    Band tightening while running???

I can't say that I have ever experienced what you went through. Perhaps a call to your surgeon is in order?
  3. I think I killed my shuffle on Wednesday night. I went out for my run, and it started bucketing down, I was saturated, and so was my shuffle. I tuned it off straight away, but it still got soaked. I got home, dried it off, and left it to dry out. Now the dammed thing won't stay charged. So I am thinking it is a really good excuse to by a Nano. Does anyone have one? Any issues with them? Or are they just the best things in the whole wide world? TIA.

    Extra skin Vs. fat

Extra skin will weigh very little. It's really surprising how thin (especially stretched skin) is. When I had my tummy tuck, I was at a healthy weight for my height, and my pannus was fairly thin. But, it still weighed close to 2lbs. There was fat in what they took off, for sure.

    DO I need an unfill

If you cannot eat solid food, yes, you do need an unfill.

So who would you like to meet?

To be serious for 3.2 seconds... I'd like to meet (in no order of preference) LJM, Wasa, the Aussie Gals, Boo Boo Kitty, Lauren, and a lot of other people I am sure I have forgotten.

It's up to Santa's discretion... Ho Ho Ho!!

We have never really "done" the Santa thing, so this doesn't worry us either way.. But I do find it amusing that a word that isn't even really used in a derogatory way here in Oz is being banned for use by Santa's.

    I need help!!! input please

What the poster I was replying to meant was that it only takes a few bites to feel full (I have seen her post about this several times on different thread that it only takes 1/4 of a cup to feel, full, full, full!) And not everyone feels full on 1/4th of a cup of food, or a couple of bites. I don't disagree with you at all, Jacqui. I disagree with the the notion that we must starve to lose weight.

Wow, you guys are ALWAYS right!!! LOL

There's nothing funny about people discovering the power of exercise! It's fantastic that you got out there and did it! That's the hard part done. Way to go!

    I need help!!! input please

And sometimes, it is more like 3/4 of a cup to a full cup.
  11. Like I said, it was and is only my opinion. But it is a fact that you will get the best answers on statistics from a health care professional, not a message board.
  12. Thanks. I honestly have no idea.... Even if you do end up with some loose skin, it's gotta look better than morbid obesity, right?
  13. A tummy tuck is going to be riskier than say the band... But the mortality rate is still lower than that of the gastric bypass. And 30 years ago, surgical technique was very different than it is today, and anaesthetics were less sophisticated than they are now. On Kayne West's mother... What I have caught without really paying attention to the story (so I could be wrong) there was apparently some heart condition involved, and she had gone to one surgeon who refused to do the surgery, then went to another surgeon (Jan Adams, I think?) had the surgery, than I think he said she had a heart attack? My opinion (for what it's worth) is talk to a doctor. People on a message board can only reassure you so much. But if you talk to a surgeon about your medical history, and any risks that you may face, it will be a hell of a lot more reassuring than faceless strangers on a message board saying it will all be ok.
  14. I would wait till you got to 160lbs. The thinner you are at the time of surgery, the better the result will be. If I had still been overweight when I had my surgery, you can bet your boots that I would have new sagging skin. There is no way a tummy tuck will hold up to massive weight loss. As it is, I can pinch skin on my stomach due to the weight loss. And I wasn't all that fatty on my stomach when I had the tuck, the extra weight I lost came off my boobs, legs and backside.

    For those who have PCOS

Yes, I was on Metformin, but have stopped taking it. I was on Metfomin from 2001 till mid to late 2005.
  16. If I had known I was going to lose another 26lbs (the doc took off close to 2lbs) I would have lost the weight first, then gone in for the tuck. I was at my "goal" weight when I had my tuck, I was well within a healthy weight. My additional weight loss was not planned. I wanted to stay around 135, but my body had other idea's. Go with your gut. If you want to lose as much weight as possible before your tuck, do it. What weight does your surgeon want you to be at?

    For those who have PCOS

Yeah, I have chin hair that drives me batty. I still have to pluck, but there is no new hair growing. The hair on my arms has gone from fairly wiry, very dark hair to light and soft.

    For those who have PCOS

Hi Linda! My symptoms are for the most part non existent at this stage. I have a perfect 28 day cycle, no issues with hair loss, no acne, my blood sugar issues have totally resolved, I have no new hair growing, and my mood swings only happen during PMS now. I feel like a "normal" woman for the first time in my life. Sam.
  19. I was 135lbs the day of surgery (I distinctly remember weighing in before surgery) So I lost roughly 28lbs in the couple of months after the surgery.

    Roux-En-Y or Lap Band

The trouble is, without exercise during weight loss, we lose muscle as well as fat, and when we lose muscle, it takes less to fuel our bodies. So to maintain during winter when you don't want to move too much, you will find yourself eating next to nothing. Or putting on weight.
  22. No, I just had a tummy tuck, nothing done to my breasts, or backside. I didn't have any lipo either. It's now been 15 months since my tummy tuck, and I am still as happy with the results now as I was at 8 months po. Thanks. Thank you muchly! I logged out, and could still see it. Maybe try refreshing your page?

    Roux-En-Y or Lap Band

If that's the type of lifestyle you are after, maybe the RNY is a better option, because for every bandster who doesn't exercise to lose 100lbs, there are 20 who do have to exercise to lose the same 100lbs. That said, I don't actually know of too many people who have had RNY who don't exercise either.

    For those who have PCOS

No, I don't eat any red meat, chicken or fish at all. For protein I eat eggs, cheese, TVP, Beans and nuts. I never really counted protein grams, so I couldn't say exactly how many grams a day I eat. When I eat out I usually just order from the vegetarian section of the menu (99.95% of the places I eat at have this) And when there isn't a Vege menu to order from, there is usually something that suits me. I didn't become vegetarian for any ethical reason (I don't have a problem with seeing other people eat meat) I was just never a big meat eater, and I found that I was eating less and less meat as time went on and just thought to myself "why not just become vegetarian?" and within a couple of weeks I had eliminated meats from my diet all together. I am what's call and ovo-lacto vegetarian, meaning I still eat dairy, eggs and honey. There are other types of vegetarianism that are far more restrictive in what can be consumed, but I love my cheese and yoghurt, so I don't see myself becoming vegan any time soon.

    For those who have PCOS

About 6 months post op I started running (slowly!!) 3 times a week, and I did, and still do 3 days a week of resistance work. These days I run about 5km a day, a long run on the weekends of about 10km (I am working on getting my daily run up to 8km, and my weekend run up to 15km), still do the resistance work 3x a week, and when my friends can rope me into it, a yoga class a week. I stopped taking my met around the time I started running, at about 6 months post op. For my money's worth, it's not just been exercise. I converted to vegetarianism about 2 years ago now, and the weight started falling off when I paid attention to eating whole foods (not over processed diet type foods). The exercise was a HUGE part, don't get me wrong, but I felt a huge change when I started eating whole, organic foods.
