Skin is not muscle, and cannot be exercised. No exercise in the world with stop excess skin if you are genetically predisposed to it. Exercise can build muscle under skin (in the arms, for example) and improve the look of the skin, but that's about it. I opted only to have a tummy tuck. If I had pushed, I could have had a lot more surgery (breasts, thighs and arms) but the tummy was the only thing I was really unhappy with, so it is all I have done. No one has to have plastic surgery. Some people just chose to.

This is a myth. If you are going to have excess skin, you will have it whether you lose weight fast or slow.
-
*Puts hand up* Dr Copp did my surgery. I think he is fantastic. You do actually have to get on with your surgeon. After all, you see a lot of them in the fist year. Good luck!

We are around. I am 8 weeks shy of 3 years post op, and I am yet to have any major issues, got to goal in 17 months, and am happy as a lark.
-
For me, it hasn't gone away. But I am used to it now. It's not a big deal any more. I just put a jumper on, and get on with it (it's the middle of the Australian summer, and yesterday I wore a cardi, granted, it was overcast, but no one else was wearing a jumper!)
-
Fro me, there have been lots of best parts. Regaining my health, rediscovering my passion for running, getting to goal 18 months ago, then having my tummy tuck... Just living. It has all been worth it.
-
It's only hard if you let it be. I won't say losing weight is easy. Because it's not. BUT. I can honestly say I have done harder things in my life than this. Congrats on the band!
-
Yup. It's because a size consists of far fewer pounds the smaller you are. (5lbs = almost 3 dress sizes for me now)

I don't know how I missed this!! Woot! Congrats LJM!! I am super excited for you babe! -
Congratulations Bronnie!

I eat as much as I like. I don't really take too much notice of the quantity any more, I just eat till I am full, then no more.
-
My wasn't changed or repositioned during my TT, and it doesn't protrude at all.
-
I give up. People who have never had it used as as a nasty, nasty insult will never understand just how hurtful it can be.

Fit, healthy, glowing, athletic, toned, & happy are all words that spring to mind as a positive before "skinny" "Skinny" is a word used to describe the starlets in Hollywood who are starving themselves to death in the media. Why would I want that associated with me? I'm not starving myself to death. Why would I want to wear that label? Definition of Skinny skin·ny [ skínnee ] adjective (comparative skin·ni·er, superlative skin·ni·est) Definition: 1. very thin: thin, especially in an unappealing or unhealthy way 2. low-fat: made with skim milk ( slang ) One skinny latte to go.

Exercise to frim skin before and after Lapband
Chickie replied to devonaravenhold's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Did you see them in undies? Because even shorts hide a lot. My point. Again is, they probably DID look "toned" because they are still overweight! The skin is still being fill out by fat. Naturally you wouldn't see hanging skin on someone who has still got 50 odd pounds to lose. It's when we get close to the finish line (a healthy, normal BMI) that the loose skin begins to really show. -
I think we all need to speak for ourselves. *I* don't like being insulted for being a normal healthy weight any more than I liked being insulted for being fat. And sometimes they *are* insults. Not everyone is nice.

Exercise to frim skin before and after Lapband
Chickie replied to devonaravenhold's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Did you see them naked? Like 100% butt naked? Because I look like I have never been overweight, let alone super morbidly obese, till I take all my clothes off. And how many of them were at a healthy weight? As in not in the "Overweight" category? Trust me. You see big changes in the skin between "Overweight" and "Normal" I am not trying to be argumentative here, but TV (even reality TV) is not realistic in any way shape or form. -
Uh. Cherry... That's not Lana... It's me. She quoted my post.
-
I don't like it. Being called skinny is just as bad as being called fat (to me anyway). I have had over 2 years of being called "Skinny" (I have been at goal for 18 months now) and it gets dammed old being told that you are "skin and bones!" and that you really shouldn't lose any more weight, "Are you sure you are eating enough?" and "maybe you should stop now" (that one was just last week. I haven't lost weight in 1.5 years!).

Exercise to frim skin before and after Lapband

I have no idea what the people on a tv show (that I don't even watch) have done. I only know what several doctors, including no less than 3 reconstructive surgeons have told me, and personal experence have taught me. -
Successful losers what is a days food for you?
Chickie replied to Liz1531's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
See, my feeling on "No fruit, ever" is that it is just too weird to be lopping out a major source or Vitamins and minerals for no good reason. A good balanced diet of whole food is what a bandster should aim for. And said diet does include fruit. -
Had Lapband Surgery 6/12/07 from Sydney Australia
Chickie replied to jennid42's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
A big hello from Brisbane Jenny! It might be best to contact your surgeons office with regard to when to start the puréed diet. I haven't heard of anyone having any real issues with getting used to the feeling of food in the stomach when they resume eating, most people report great delight at being able to eat solid foods again. If you do have problems, it is best to give your surgeon (or the surgeons support staff) a quick call. Congrats on the 5kg! -

LMAO! Really? I must have missed that memo. -
There is nothing that I am aware of in Brisbane (but that doesn't say a lot, I tend to keep to myself)
