Dude. I would, but I don't want people thinking I run after her attacking her malnourished ass. I do think she is a very poor example of a bandster, and I actually feel sorry for her. She can't see how sick this is going to make her.

Shortgal, I know you have a hard on for me, but stop and listen... A healthy BMI is an indication that a person is likely to be healthy. And unhealthy BMI is an indication that person is unhealthy. For example. Two people who are the same age, don't drink, smoke do drugs, anything nasty. One is smack in the middle of a healthy BMI, and the other is smack in the middle of morbidly obese. Who, statistically is going to be healthier? The person who is MO, or the person with a healthy BMI? The person who is MO is likely to have blood pressure issues, diabetes, sleep apnea and a myriad of other problems that most people who have a healthy weight and lifestyle just don't have. It has nothing to do with how attractive being fat or thin is. The way people look has nothing to do with being obese, or morbidly obese. And let's face it. If morbidly obese wasn't a chronic issue, it wouldn't be called being MORBIDLY OBESE. They would pick a nicer, less scary sounding name for it. Perhaps my perception of what is overweight is skewed by the fact that I don't live in a country where obesity is the norm.
-
Are you dense? No one is talking about smoking. If you want to be fat, that is fine, but don't say you are a healthy weight, because you are not. The major difference between AU and the US is that we don't see obesity as 'normal" yet, therefore we don't see this girl as a healthy weight.
-
Julie, no one is saying it's not ok to be happy with your body, but people must accept that they are not a healthy weight if they choose to be a BMI of over 24.9.
-
I'd have to say not enough. When I was actively losing weight (at a guess) I was eating roughly a cup or more of food at a sitting. For my money, it was more about what I was eating, and how long I was staying full for. These days, I would starve to death on 4oz of food.

According to the article she has a BMI of 26 (overweight) so saying she is a healthy weight is wrong. This is actually a really good example of why people think that a healthy BMI looks unhealthy. By holding this girl up, and saying that she is the picture of health and womanhood (at a BMI of 26 at 17 years old) We are saying that anyone any thinner is NOT healthy and womanly. And that's wrong. Yes she is a beautiful girl. Very beautiful in fact. But she IS overweight. She is not a healthy weight.

I have to agree. She doesn't really look that good in that bikini. The cut is wrong for her, and she needs more support for the girls. That said, she is a gorgeous young woman.

Taken off metformin/weight gain.......
Chickie replied to brandyII's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Any chance of getting back on the Metformin? Have you had your insulin and sugars checked of late? -
Absolutely! Thanks to Alex, and to everyone who contributes to make LBT the outstanding community it is!

When I started running over 2 years ago, I did a very modified C2K (meaning I skipped weeks here and there, and really did my own thing to a degree) (I will use my DH as an example because he started running far more recently than I did) After close on three years of "power walking", my DH started running just before Christmas, we tried the C2K on him... He didn't do well with the structure. He needed to be able to do his own thing, so we ran for a s long as he could, then walked till his heart rate dropped, then we ran again, then walked, then ran again, till there was no walking in there at all. He says it really helped him to have someone there to keep him motivated when it got rough. So perhaps you could try to find someone to run with when you are ready to start running?

To those banded for more than 2 years
Chickie replied to BIGDSWIFE's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Banded a wee bit over 3 years ago, feel fantastic, and have kept the weight off for just on 22 months now with very little effort. -
To be fair. She may have lost 20lbs in the first week, and she might well carry her weight better than the average overweight/obese woman. But her attitude sucks.
-
Good Lord. Talk about beating a dead f'ing horse.
-
I highly doubt she lost that sort of weight in a week. And if she did lose that sort of weight in a week, she must have quite a high start weight.
-
That horse is dead honey, and it doesn't deserve the beating you are giving it. If you are "suffering from malnutrition and low potassium" like you said in another thread, YOU ARE TOO TIGHT and need an unfill. If you are "spitting up" like you said in that same thread only yesterday, YOU ARE TOO TIGHT and need an unfill. Why is this so hard for you to understand?

Welcome to the "At or near goal forum"
Chickie replied to Chickie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Personally, I needed my fill out to stop losing weight. I am an odd bird though, and my surgeon has never seen or heard of this happening before. I put it down to the way I eat and exercise, and also down to the fact that I never maintained a tight fill. Most people need to maintain most, if not all of their fill to maintain their weight. -
Countdown to last adjustment-UNFILL
Chickie replied to VegasGrace's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You both realize that you are both WAY too tight if you are "spitting up". And by being too tight you risk slippage, erosion and malnutrition. -
I wanted to be athletic looking, yet feminine. I think I got what I wanted.

You agree that it's a super idea to live off meat and vitamins? -
Dumping in a RNY patient (from my understanding) is when sugars enter the blood stream too quickly, causing nausea, vomiting sweating and diarrhea. Because a banded person's anatomy is intact, specifically the intestinal tract, we don't experience dumping. What you went through was likely caused by the LemSip, but I highly doubt it was dumping.

I have no idea what you are talking about. Do you have any idea how to cook cats so the fur doesn't tickle my throat?

I have big hair.

Least Disgusting Way of Getting 30gr of Protien Per day?
Chickie replied to Tons of Fun's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I found the least disgusting way to get protein was to eat it in whole lean foods.
