Anybody suffer severe anxiety after surgery
Madam Reverie replied to LaurieC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds a bit like this... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasovagal_response I had this. Its not pleasant. Took a while to ease off. Mine was not related to the surgery, but a nasty bug I caught overseas and all the drugs they put me on to get rid of it. Take it slow. Drink lots of Water. Eat lots of protein.. Give it time, it will ease off -
Good God, where did you get a man like that?! Mine just about manages mono-syllabic grunts of vague approval! Well done, honey. I'm sure you absolutely do look fantastic. (with no follow up required)

Okay, all I'm going to say, is that if people don't start to use the 'search Forums' function...I may have to have a Michael Douglas Whammy Burger moment. It's not that hard. ALL of the information you require will be there (with the exception of a few, personally focussed nuances and topics). If your topic is not original, do us all a favour; thoroughly exhaust the search function and if there is something not covered (which I doubt it won't be), THEN ask! Ideally making reference to what you have read so far and how and why, the information presented did not cover your specific area of interest/concern. If you don't know how to search - please ask us. We will be MORE than happy to help. Its just and outside of this, the general laziness permeating the threads is starting to get on my mammary glands. For those of the 'bleeding heart' brigade who will no doubt mew in my general direction: 'But some people are new. Some people need special attention. Don't be mean. You need to be more compassionate. You were new once. This serves no purpose but to scare people away from posting' (etc.etc, ad infinitum, ad nauseum) Bite me. I have never been 'lazy' in the pursuit of information which will allay my fears and build upon my knowledge for a proposed action which really should not be taken lightly, so why are other people? If someone is incapable of using the search function through internet inexperience - this is one thing. (See above). But I find for those who have already managed to insert Giff's and tickers to their signatures, this is not applicable - so why haven't they searched first? If you evidence that you've searched (not just stating 'I've searched', moving on to ask the same bleedin' question, thus indicating you haven't actually been bothered to search!) and there's a genuine need for additional and unique information - there's not a person in the world who won't help you. However and I'm just going to put it out there. If you're this lazy in response to finding out the critical information YOU need for YOUR surgery and post operative care; how does this bode for your attitude post surgery? If you can't be bothered now, will you be bothered later? Or is this just emblematic of the attitude 'Its not me, it's them.' Absolving yourself of all responsibility? So and to summarize; take the initiative people. Use your brains. Read, analyse, compare, contrast, critique - THEN ask questions. You will gain far more from it and the website will also benefit. I concede that the search function on this site is a bit laborious. However, by showing some effort, the people who genuinely want to help you will be invigorated to do so - valuing the efforts you've already made to push the debate on and contribute to the ever-growing invaluable pot of knowledge on Bariatric Pal. Failure to do so will just fill the the site with repetitive, unanswered questions, because those who are capable of helping have become exhausted and their pot of compassion depleted, by those whom seem to think that THEIR questions are more important/relevant/unique than anyone else's? The Quest for knowledge should be a daily mission. It is how we learn and grow. Asking people to spoon feed you pap, like baby food, will do nothing for you long term and will do nothing for this community, either. Maybe have a think about that, before you post another 'done to death' topic; expecting the world to rally to your call. 'Cause after a while, people just won't respond and all thats been affected, is to leave the site a wasteland full of whistling wind and tumbleweed. Rant over. <Wanders off grumbling, back to her cave of mean>

Hehe, I know what you mean. I suggest covering it back over and forgetting about it until you absolutely have to deal with it! -

Don't be alone. There are hundreds of us on here who have been where you are. I am not a band to sleeve revision, but I know what it's like to have no familial support. It sucks. But we're all here to have a natter with if you're feeling crappy or despondent. You never know, we may even be able to raise a smile or three. I know it's not nice to feel like an island - but you're not an island. You have us mad lot backing you up. Whether you like it or not x -
Large Incision (pic)
Madam Reverie replied to DaddyMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That incision is where they remove the part of your stomach they cut away. Within that incision are also sort of 'tethering' stitches. These are attached to the muscle, which is why if you pull them a bit, they hurt waaay more than the others. Try not to fret. Give it a few weeks - perhaps 4 -6 and all of a sudden, that 'tethered' feeling just disappears. Its like the stitches dissolve and you're back to being you - just with incisions healing on the outside and your stomach healing on the inside. All perfectly normal - and your scar looks great. As long as you're not over-exerting yourself and other than the 'oooh, that's weird' kinda feeling is all you're encountering, all is well. The moment you get any seeping or pain and fever, you have to go back to your surgeon. -
Mine are no longer objects of sexual desire. They have a practical use. I can shine my shoes with them during the day. And in the night, they double as a neck and armpit warmers. I'll be first on the plastics bench as soon as the 'margin of skin shrink' has taken place. Hopefully takes place... PLEASE GOD LET IT TAKE PLACE!!!!!

Ha! Well deserved and well consumed! Out of interest, I do hope that second one didn't go to hubby - no matter how lovely he is!

Do I have a freaking ulcer or what?!
Madam Reverie replied to SandeeD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, Sandee, I feel your pain. I woke up choking on my own bile. Went up my nose, inhaled it - the whole nine yards. It is grossly unpleasant. What I found useful was limiting caffeine, not eating three hours before bed. Propping myself up at night. Nothing acidic, nothing too rich... Just keeping it really plain and boring. Honey and Cider Vinegar can help. Just a bit mixed into Water and chugged. Not drinking plain water - strangely. Here's hoping your twice a day tablets can help keep it at bay. Keep us posted and hope you feel better soon x -
Do not follow the leader
Madam Reverie replied to fred2014's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Fred - You've so got this. None of us are infallible. We're all going to be facing these demons at some time or other. Its a brave thing to come back and say 'Hey, you lot, this is how it is..' I admire you -

4 days post op & regretting surgery
Madam Reverie replied to Antonia_megan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hang in there, honey, it does get better - promise. I came to the conclusion, in the very early days, that anything down my throat was good. Consequently and for the first two weeks, i didn't worry about whether something was 'sugar free' or 'fat free' or not. I just ingested what I could. If you need some energy, try adding some gatorade (not the sugar free stuff) to some Water and sip on that. It'll perk you up no end. It will get better - you just have to get through the first few weeks. Hold tight -
Nope. Door to this thread.

Does this count as a NSV?
Madam Reverie replied to Kindle's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Totally! You've got your mind to overcome one of my biggest personal struggles. I have to clean a plate. Still have to. Consequently, the plate is either pretty small, or the human dustbin opposite gets it. Well done, honey. -
Eh? <scratches her head>

After everything you've been through? Eat-the-bleedin-pop-tart. You deserve that much!!!

For the record, I'm not being a 'jerk'. If I wanted to be a 'jerk', i'd be going into individuals' threads, winding people up, calling people names and the like. Ringing any bells? I think most would observe, I haven't done that - even if by implication, you think I have. Humorously, I would hazard a guess - those getting most offended by my rant, are those most likely to identify with the pattern of behaviour observed... If that's you? Well, sorry, but this is a 'rant and rave' section (as keeps being endlessly repeated). If you don't like it. There's a door... I suggest you use it ------------------------->

Hopefully now I've linked her, she'll be easy to find. Best of luck to you and your Dad.

Need breakfast ideas, sick of eggs and protein shakes
Madam Reverie replied to NMJG's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
lol it's true! My man made the pulled pork (he's from the south), and he leaves it plain for me and then I add what sauce I want! He drowns his - but us brits just aren't built like that! And why would your hubby react like that to your chicken snack? I do that ALL the time! I'm always found gnawing on animal carcasses.. -
Need breakfast ideas, sick of eggs and protein shakes
Madam Reverie replied to NMJG's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Erm, I didn't even know you could get sugar free BBQ sauce?! So clearly, that's a no. BUT, to be fair, I don't like too much sauce on mine so it was more plain pulled pork with a light smattering of BBQ. It was Breakfast, after all -
Almost 3 months out and starting to have pain, cramping feeling
Madam Reverie replied to Littlegirldreamer's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hmm.. if you're in severe pain, i would go back and see your doctor. If it's just 'grumbly', have you tried going back to liquids/mushies/soft foods for a bit. Ideally not rich or spicy.. To see how you go?
