I'm 13 days out and I feel exactly the same as you. This is tough.. We're just going to hang on in there until we reach our own 'nirvana's'. We can do it. We're made of stronger stuff x -
Just putting it out there, so 'dirty' little secrets may see the light of day!

I just ate a mini shortbread biscuit. Or a cookie as you lot like to call them. It was delicious! -
Incision won't heal
Madam Reverie replied to thebean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like Redbean, mine are very slight and just above my waistband and below my sternum. Clearly our surgeons went to the same school! I'm sorry for your troubles, bean. It doesn't look good, but as you say, there are worse things which could have happened. Wishing you a speedy recovery x -
I can eat half a normal sized can of soup in one go.. and at a fair pace, too. I am 13 days out. I think the ability to scoff comes in fits and starts. You'll be cool

What in the hell is that? Where are your stitches? Why is it an open gaping wound? I would be less than impressed with that. Were you operated on in the States? -
If it's light and clear, you're all good in the hood.

Glad you've got the all clear from the doctor. Better to be safe than sorry. You take care x

Stomach H. pylori bacteria
Madam Reverie replied to bashmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not wanting to add to the controversy, although the view on overuse of anti-biotics is absolutely valid; In light of the subject having had bariatric surgery, there are pretty compelling reasons as to why the H Pylori infection should be eliminated with antibiotics. This information has just been obtained from the Medical Library of a very well respected University that I have online access to: Reasons to treat H Pylori: Source: Marshall, B. J., Windsor, H. M. and Kimura, K. (2010) Helicobacter pylori, in Practical Gastroenterology and Hepatology (eds N. J. Talley, K. R. DeVault and D. E. lump sensation in my throat
Madam Reverie replied to ElyQuint's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was issued PPI, yes. Except, I'd gone three days without it and was tickety-boo, naively thinking I'd be fine. Sadly, something hit me badly yesterday and took me out till 5am. Consequently, when I opened my eyes this morning, the first thing that went down my throat was a PPI. I'm going to do everything in my power to avoid having that again... Nasty. Best of luck for your tonsillectomy tomorrow. We'll be thinking of you x -
What kind of nsv is this?
Madam Reverie replied to aliekat55's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
When you said 'fell into bed for a nap and clearly there was something poking me in the belly/chest.' My first thought was 'crikey, her husband is a bit forward, isn't he?!' Clearly I need to seek therapy... Congrats on your NSV though. It's awesome -

Straws - good, bad, or ugly?
Madam Reverie replied to WesLosesIt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Verbatim, the advice given to me (taken from my diet plan booklet) was this: ' Avoid carbonated drinks and drinking with a straw. This introduces too much air and causes bloating'. By 'air', they mean enough to fill you up from pubis to sternum and by 'bloating', they mean endeavoring to expand your newly eviscerated stomach into that which resembles an internal Zeppelin. Leaving you writhing around, greatly uncomfortable, as you desperately try to maneuver your stomach into letting go of the 'air' that it has claimed; resulting in burping of the 'I don't care about social propriety, I have to get it out' variety. Apparently and for some, this abates further on down the road and they happily consume beverages through a straw when they wish. If using a straw is integral to your life, try it. I did - accidentally - when I purchased myself a nice iced latte - completely forgetting about the warning. What happened? I was stood outside a shopping centre, leaning against a wall, trying to burp that baby up. Thus leaving people to think I was having some sort of coronary. Nice. Lady-like behaviour. -
Stomach H. pylori bacteria
Madam Reverie replied to bashmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am the queen of H Pylori infection! Gratefully, I contracted it three times whilst overseas and not, after being sleeved. As has been stated, it is a common bug to find lurking in the system and it is a bit of a pain in the bum to get rid of. Normally it's combination therapy of two-three antibiotics in the one go, plus some PPI (which you'll have been given anyway post surgery). Through personal experience, I found the Metronidazole they give you, absolutely horrid and you definitely need something in your stomach before taking it. Made me feel like I'd been bashed over the head a few times and had just eaten a bag of sick. However, it is one of those things and as long as you adhere to the plan, in two weeks you should be a-okay. They'll give you a breath test to see if the badness is still in there and then when you're clear, you're good to go! Sorry this happened to you - it is a bit miserable - but you'll be fine in no time. Just be prepared to feel a bit 'whacked out' for the first few days... and if you need help dealing with domestics, be sure to ask for it from those that care. My malaise was most acute in the first week and I kept wanting to sleep - but each to their own and everyone handles it differently. Unfortunately its a case of 'suck it and see'. You'll be absolutely fine! Hang on in there x -
lump sensation in my throat
Madam Reverie replied to ElyQuint's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes indeedy... I'm back to yoghurt and all things boring today as a consequence of last nights activities... I can't do another day like yesterday. It is categorically, a very miserable experience. x -

Does that mean I'd have a legitimate reason to ingest Balsamic vinegar? Winner!!

Pissed off and scared
Madam Reverie replied to JeansBeans's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
What ARE these people doing? Anti-histamines, because you have a full-on allergic reaction to a medicine? WTF?!! I'd be getting out of that hole as soon as possible. -
Yep, I'm going to have to show total commitment to the PPI cause now. I'd gone three days without it and thought I was good. Clearly not...
-
I have to agree with RJ... You have a drain in. This is an open wound. Don't muck about now. Get someone to drive you to the doctors/hospital or get a doctor to come out and see you pronto. Please, don't leave it till the morning. Your temperature is already high enough...

I've had a lump in my throat/sternum, all day. I knew it must have been trapped acid as it came on straight after lunch (which, itself, was nothing controversial) because I'd forgotten to take my PPI. Fast forward 15 hours, two PPI, two glugs of Gaviscon and there was nothing else for it.. I went to the toilet, leaned over (for gravity to help), burped and up came pure bile (no food). Bright yellow. It didn't hurt my 12 day old sleeve to bring it up as it was clearly trapped outside of the stomach and in the esophagus, but I have the residual burn which is now preventing me from sleeping. I do NOT want this to become the norm and it is greatly scaring me. I guess the only thing I can do is remember to take my PPI first thing in the morning and hope it works from this point onwards... Even my GP said long term use of PPI was bad.. and the long term prognosis for sleevers who have severe GERD is a bypass. I really really don't want that. Does that mean I'll be eating plain yoghurt for the rest of my life?
-
7 days out with a temperature? It's not good. How do you feel in yourself? Any pain anywhere? Although, these things are irrelevant really. If you're rocking hot - there is something wrong. As the lady said above. Go get it checked and very soon...

Going up north to a rustic cabin please help
Madam Reverie replied to birdmadgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Will the bars serve soup? Mash potato and gravy? That might be a good option for when dining out? You could always be honest and ask them to prepare you something 'off plan'. As for 'in the cabin', you can't get better advice than that noted above. Best of luck -

Madam Reverie replied to byebyebelly's topic in Rants & Raves
I don't look at profiles to really evaluate a persons weight loss, although if people have before and after shots, that's very cool. I like to see who it is who has been looking at my profile and its nice if they're normal human beings, because I like to make friends. More often than not, however, when I pointedly hunt down a profile, it's to glance at their previous posts to see if they have 'form' for writing total and utter self-absorbed, 'woe is me', over-dramatic, over-the-top 'the world is ending' or generally angry and antagonistic bollox. Most of the time, my suspicions are confirmed! -
