I'm 5ft 10. I started at 250 and I'm aiming for about an 85lb loss... Don't want to look skeletal! -
GERD - Indigestion, Reflux, Lumps in Throat/Chest. Exposition of Symptoms and Treatment.

I shall be sleeping on as many pillows as I can get my hands on. And as for the sore throat, I think it sounds most definitely like reflux... Just very very unpleasant all round.. -

So do I, treacle, so do I... What scares me the most, is that this might end up being permanent.... <shudders> -

I think I'm going to have to do the same thing - no drinks. As for food, I don't eat late anyhow. It is a thoroughly miserable experience, isn't it. Could you tie it down to any food / drink type in particular, or did it just happen to you? Did your attacks happen regularly? Right now, I have to say I'm quite scared of going to bed tonight... -
GERD - Indigestion, Reflux, Lumps in Throat/Chest. Exposition of Symptoms and Treatment.
Madam Reverie replied to Madam Reverie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, this morning, at 05:00hrs, I awoke, choking on my own bile. I actually inhaled it. Cue 1.5 hours of rolling around on the bathroom floor, crying/panicking, desperately trying to cough up battery acid out of my lungs - gagging, burning, dry heaving. As it went into my lungs, I now have burning all up my esophagus, throat, vocal chords, sore gums/teeth and the pain radiates from the middle of my back. Not to mention the wrench of my stomach and incision sites. I contacted my bariatric providers and they are having me back in to see the surgeon on.. Tuesday. I was also reliably informed that if it went into my lungs, I would likely have to take a course of antibiotics... Now, after answering questions, i could understand it if I had eaten something which hadn't agreed with me. However, my attacks are not during the day/evening. They're in the middle of the night, where my PPI has obviously worn off and the valve just opens itself and lets all the bile escape into my throat and lungs. This, to me, indicates an over-production of bile and the valve malfunctioning. Anyone have any experience of this? What did you do? What did your med team do? Any advice or assistance would be very much appreciated x (One fairly miserable girl) -
If you do, and you confess to it? Be sure to write a disclaimer underneath

3 weeks out tomorrow! /skip pureed
Madam Reverie replied to a_jap21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have tried beef ragu sauce with vegetables - bit too rich, caused a fair amount of heartburn - I think this was due to the volume of tomatoes and the richness of the cheese Roasted beef slice, potato, peas and carrots and gravy - went down a treat Mini pork sausage (3), potato, peas and carrots and gravy - went down a treat Slow roasted lamb shank, peas, broccoli, carrots and minted gravy - went down a treat Shelled mini shrimp with cocktail sauce - lovely and very high in Protein for a very small portion Steamed cod with parsley sauce - lovely That's the sort of thing I've been eating for dinner. I've tended to have a protein yoghurt drink, natural yoghurt with fresh blueberries for Breakfast. Maybe a slice of toast, sliced deli-ham and a bit of cheese for lunch.. (although it takes a bit of munching through, as my appetite doesn't kick in until about 3pm). So that's about it. Soft, gravy dinners seem to work and they're very nutritionally balanced. Can't complain with how things have been going since commencing 'real' food. Managed to eat fresh tomato, lettuce and onion in 1/3 of a sandwich today - so that made me very happy! Tonight.. I am tackling sliced deli-chicken... Wish me luck! -
I ken what you mean. Total confusion and anarchy with reign! Therefore, you absolute must do it, hen!

Not hungry at breakfast time

Nope, you're not alone. I don't start getting 'hungry' until after 3pm... It concerns me... -
3 weeks out tomorrow! /skip pureed
Madam Reverie replied to a_jap21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I skipped pureed entirely. I'm 3 weeks out tomorrow. I'm eating real food cooked thoroughly and that can be well chewed. I take it slow and as soon as I feel full, I stop. Consequently, I'm eating 5 small meals a day. Feel much better for it, too. -
Yeah, I must remember to only use only Standard American English from this point onwards Numpties...
-
Oh, us Brits have at least 20 different words for any one activity. We're creative like that.
-
I love Americans. So much so, I'm marrying one One of our favourite debates is the difference between the pronunciation of 'route' i.e. the planned direction to get somewhere (pronounced 'rowwt' (sp/ph) by your good selves) and why the major arterial road '66' is pronounced 'route' 66 - the English way... Yes, we are that sad... Can you imagine what our sex lives are like?! Actually, don't, that's just rude and wrong - on so many levels... and Newat, I'm everywhere, baby! I am omnipresent  Muahahahahaha <evil laugh>

lump sensation in my throat
Madam Reverie replied to ElyQuint's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh no... Let us know how you get on. Must be quite frustrating to feel awful, but not have a diagnosis yet.. Chin up x -
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Much awesomeness, M2G. Finally! Someone with an original sense of humour! (And no, that's not a spelling mistake!) Right, let's all start you off on your process of gentrification with a rousing chorus of : 'Rule Brittannia! Britannia rules the waves! England shall never, never, never, shall be slaves!' - James Thomson (1740-ish). Or, should you prefer? 'God save our gracious Queen, Live long our noble Queen, God save the Queen! Send her victorious, Happy and glorious, Long to reign over us..... God save the Queen! Sing along now, people!

I think everyone feels like that. Me? On a thrice weekly basis so far. My coping mechanism is surfing websites of expensive clothing manufacturers, fantasising about what I will buy and mocking the afflicted. It is a healthy and productive distraction. Take a deep breath, try and throw yourself into something which will occupy your mind and don't be ashamed to shed the odd tear whilst telling people to bugger off! After all, it's entirely natural. Hang in there, honey x
-
Oh, it doesn't matter. Tomaaaayto, Tomato.... Us Brits created it and you Americans ruined it. It's a fact of life. I love you all regardless... ROFL <Runs out of the room giggling and squealing>
-
and clearly, the word 'f-star-a-star-g' is a prohibited word on this website! Hehe, amusing...
-
When I first started working with my American brethren, I announced to some colleagues nearby that I was going to step outside and 'smoke a ***'. This, stopped the whole room as they looked up at me in complete horror. When I clarified I was going to smoke a cigarette; they all burst out laughing. I think we should embrace our own little linguistic colloquialisms and nuances. They can sometimes make for great fun

Sitting in waiting room, slightly freaking out
Madam Reverie replied to Inactive Profile's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Try not to be scared people. It is but a small moment in time with a little bit of interim discomfort, which will lead you to a better, happier and longer life. Besides, you get lots of legal, free drugs to keep you all warm and comfy! Free drugs! Yay! it'll be like going back to your student days! Hang in there, folks, you'll be fabulous and it will be fabulous. Let us know how you get on - we'll be thinking of you x -
LOL. Good job I didn't write 'Balderdash'.. That would have screwed everyones minds up!

An English Sleever's Journey
Madam Reverie replied to marywithoutsound's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
LOL... I hate to say it, but it gets worse.. Try licking a little bit of a stock cube. That sated my cravings for taste and salt for a while.. Hang in there! x -
Thank you, Lady. Yes, being British, I use the English language. As opposed to the American interpretation of the English language! Apologies, Sassy!
