    Show me your plate

Is that a full size dinner plate?
  2. I'm with Gamergirl on this matter. In short, your 'friend' is, as we Brits sometimes like to call it; 'Howl at the moon mad'. Firstly, 'arses and elbows' comes to mind with regards to the cogency of her argument. Secondly, she's been moronic and immature enough to post a derisive message on a board that you manage?! In short - she's an idiot. She wanted a run in - and she got one! Well done her! I know you're hurt - who wouldn't be. However, and taking the weight loss/weight loss surgery completely out of the equation, this bird seems to crave attention. Ignoring her irrational musings and moving on, will be the best thing you can possibly do for your physical and mental well being. Those that truly love you won't entertain another moment of her lunacy and nor should you!
  3. I'm a Brit from the good ol' United Kingdom.
  4. I was on the 19th, too.. Think I'm down 19 pounds. Yippppeeee!

    Eggs!

Quick question. May I ask how people tolerated eggs when on the mushie/soft food stage? Did it give you rotten indigestion? Or were you all good in the hood? How did you serve them? Many thanks, lovelies x

    Its LOSE NOT LOOSE!

You can do.. Is there anything you'd specifically like to know?
  7. I'd had a terrible day a week ago and had two bison grass vodkas, water and a dash of apple juice. Marvelous. I was two weeks out and it was even approved by my bariatric nurse. First one went down quickly. Second one, as quickly, but I felt it! Ergo, I only had two! Enjoy!

    Its LOSE NOT LOOSE!

lol of all the times for auto-correct to kick in! Funny!
  9. That sounds like it's ALL about the hormones and thyroxine levels... As the learned ones above have stated - try and get a referral to an Endo. I feel for you. x
  10. I just threw a red velvet cupcake, with its cream cheese frosting, in the bin. Yes, in the bin. Un-nibbled. Un-touched. I am a legend with a resolve of steel. STEEL I SAY!!!!

    Sausage?

I love a bit of sausage, me
  12. Yep, I think tomatoes are off the menu.. As is hot chocolate, cream cheese, raw onions and certain carbs - which is dependent on the time of day. Weird. Trial and error, decent drugs, nil by mouth for 3 hours before bedtime, lots of pillows and hopefully i'll be golden. As this thing is evaluated by the Rome criteria, you have to have more than a few symptoms and regular 'episodes', for it to be classified as GERD. Thankfully (?!) I have only had a few night time episodes. Nothing during the daytime since the first week and that was the globus feeling in the throat. Makes for interesting reading: http://www.romecriteria.org/assets/pdf/19_RomeIII_apA_885-898.pdf Lets see if I can go a few days without incident! Fingers crossed! x <holds up a pot of Total in salutation to LV> Cheers!

    REJECTED!

I think men mock 'fat' women, because they have very small penises... and no dexterity in their hips and hands.

Why Can't I Get In The Mood

Oh, honey.. this very issue has been discussed at length on this site.. Sadly, it goes back to the adage 'you can take a horse to water, but you can't make it drink'... If he doesn't want to, then he's not going to. Nor, really, should he have to. However and you never know.. When he sees you succeeding - he might get motivated. In the meantime, you either tell him as it is.. Or you blame it on being preoccupied with school... Either way, the truth will out sooner or later. Never easy and I don't envy you your position. x

Why Can't I Get In The Mood

Hmm.. Maybe you're a bit preoccupied with all the other things going on in your life at the moment to really 'get into your groove'? Obviously, if your libido is low, then your outlook is going to be impacted upon. That might include how you view your partner. However, has the downturn in your lustful feelings towards him been a recent thing, or has it been bubbling for a while? I might put it down to being a bit preoccupied.. But only you know whether this is true, or whether it is symptomatic of something deeper and more significant? What I will say about libido and being post op; for me, it comes in waves. And generally, when i've got enough nutrition in. If I haven't eaten enough, the first thing to be knocked out is that. Consequently, my recent advice to my partner was 'if you want me feeling 'fruity' - make sure you've fed me!' Wishing you the best of luck and hoping you find your groove again x

    An English Sleever's Journey

Has he moved out then, Nathalie? I couldn't recommend going and seeing the world more highly. Having done it myself - it changes you. And totally for the better. Next on my list to do is.... The South Pacific... (I want to be part of my own Blue Lagoon film. Just without the unplanned pregnancy!)
  17. Well, I'll see what I can do until I see the main man on Tuesday. Maybe he'll double the dose - maybe he'll issue me with something else? I was permitted to take Gaviscon yesterday, due to the horrendous nature of what happened. However, I was told the same thing - no OTC because it reduces the efficacy. Ho-hum.. Guess we all have to plug on through and wait to see what happens.. In the meantime, I have to say I'm now actually scared of eating. Wasn't, before the attack... Yoghurt for Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Delightful!

    An English Sleever's Journey

Hehe, it's okay. I think I'm just learning what I can and can't do and what I should and should not be doing. Got 10 hours sleep last night with no reflux - so what I did yesterday clearly worked. Fingers crossed it continues and this is just a 3 week transition issue. I am genuinely scared of the alternative. It's not pleasant, I'll say that. Glad you're seeing the tangible results.. I'm 2.6 kilo's off being 100 kilos. I think I may have a mini party when I hit that mark! Sad, but true!

    An English Sleever's Journey

That's a pretty good result! Are you starting to 'feel' skinny? I know I am! It's weird!
  20. Thanks, LV. Sadly, I am only too painfully aware of the sleeve revision to bypass if all other options fail. As it stands, I'm early days. From what I've read, this is common at the 3 week mark when the food transitions happen. Hopefully though, and in a good proportion of cases, episodes become less frequent as the weight comes off and you learn what you can and can't do. One ray of sunshine, is that last night I got 10 hours sleep and no reflux. So, what has this told me? a) I can't eat certain things for right now I have to go nil by mouth for 3 hours before bedtime c) I don't get reflux during the day - so being up and about helps move things along d) there is a correlation between not going to the toilet for a couple of days and an attack (so motility is a factor) and e) sleeping significantly elevated, certainly did the trick last night. Clearly, after 10 hours sleep! In fact, I feel marvelous! I guess I'm going to be one of the people who has to pay particular attention to this aspect and hope, that in the next year and when my sleeve naturally stretches a bit - it gives me some digestive 'wiggle room'. Fingers crossed until the next time!
  21. I'm on omeprazole, 20mg twice a day. I take one first thing in the morning and I'm holding off on the second dose till 10pm, to attempt to stave off the acid until the morning. The weird thing is that I didn't have reflux or indigestion prior to the surgery. So it's definitely the surgery that has caused it. I have cut out all the usual suspects for causes (even reduced my smoking - which is miraculous!) and am taking to glugging Gaviscon before sleep to coat my throat - as Blue suggested. Peggy, you're absolutely right about the pneumonia and it scares the living hell out of me. The last thing I need is a full on chest infection when I'm so fresh out of surgery.. My fiance, who is a former EMT, ordered this evening (because he's less than impressed that I can't see anyone until Tuesday) that if I wake up tomorrow morning and the same thing happens again - I go straight to the ER and get them to mainline antibiotics into me. I have done so much reading on the issue today, the only glimmer of hope I'm holding onto is that with the weight loss, this goes away naturally. Right now it feels like I've got a lifetime of eating baby-food in baby-portions ahead of me, with the reward of excruciating discomfort afterwards. Yay, me!
  22. Apparently it's vagus nerve stimulation which triggers off reactions in the autonomic nervous system. This triggers hiccups, the snots, sneezing. Bottom line, it's your body's way of saying slow down, and more importantly, stop eating...
  23. Cheers, my dear. I guess all I can do is hope that it's not what I'm reading in academic journals - which is the pancreas going into overdrive. In that way, grave danger lies...
