Hello. My Name Is Revs And I'm A Carboholic And Hungry!
Madam Reverie replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Many thanks, GG. I did see this article when you posted it previously. Carbs are food of the devil - but boy are they tasty. Ergo, I try to limit them to save my pain!!! Now, who hid the cheese?! -

I just added my two penneth worth to the referenced thread. Not by calling anyone out (because I cannot be bothered with the aggro), but by cutting and pasting some relevant and recent scientific academic journals - as I do. This is not 'cause I want to stir up a hornets nest. But I often feel sorry for visitors seeking experiential and scientific data who could be lead by people who by dint of having a 'strong voice' on this website, promulgate conjecture as fact. Often responding to the merest enquiry as to the source and legitimacy of their hypotheses with infantile and inappropriate personal attacks. No doubt I'll catch some crap as a consequence.. but I'm about to have a cider, seeing as it's Saturday evening. Consequently, this could prove amusing, folks!

Academic research of 2013 and the sheer volume of people getting sleeved in preference over and above other options - should speak for itself. I find the debate yawn-worthy....

NB - as for Myfitnesspal. I have a smart phone which has been sat in its box for the last 6 months. I'm scared of its fragility and haven't taken it out of its box as a consequence. I love my Nokia brick and think (because I'm a clumsy bat), that I'd destroy it in under a week! Maybe I should break the cellophane and join the brave new world... x -
Hello. My Name Is Revs And I'm A Carboholic And Hungry!

Thanks, All. Very useful. I'm snacking on nuts and dried fruits (as per the nutritionists recommendations). Its good, it does the job for a bit. I try to limit the cheese I consume.. Primarily because it was my nemesis before surgery and now my ability to eat most things has improved greatly, I know it would be my nemesis afterwards. For those of you who had a thing for cookies, ice cream, chips, cake and the like.. Those things were not my issue. It was CHEESE!! (and biscuits for cheese and olives and charcuterie and chutney for cheese and cheese and a bit more cheese) My diet is varied and wholesome. I was even metaphorically patted on the head by my Nutritionist, on detailing my food choices. That's all good, but the scale isn't moving... Regarding the hunger - he noted that people who are on the younger end of the scale feel hunger much more than older folk and concurred that it wasn't head hunger. It was the battery running completely flat. He also commented that older folk found 'richer' foods harder to stomach. He found my ability to eat what I can eat (which is not bad stuff, but roast dinners, lamb shanks and veg, etc) remarkable. However, the portions are small and they leave me hungry 2.5 hours afterwards. So I'm on a mission to find the alternative snacking options which will keep my energy levels and I, happy. Thank you for all your suggestions. I shall be mooching to the supermarket this evening to see if I can find alternatives which don't make me feel like I'm some sort of mutant obese squirrel... -
That's the one I stumbled across in my attempts at navigating layout-newness... I was afraid... Very afraid....

I don't care for it. But then, I don't care for much because I'm a grumpy-bum. I accidentally walked into a band thread yesterday, because I clicked on 'recent posts'. All I could think when I read it through was 'what in the holy-blue-feck, is this?!' All I can say is us Sleevers are a cordial lot... Disagreements or not.... Glad I didn't get banded!

Thanks, all. Thing is, with snacking, I'm easily hitting the 800-1200 calorie mark that he wanted me to be at. Admittedly, I am drinking a few of my calories, in the form of fruit juice and squash and the like. I just don't see how the 3 square meals is tenable without supplementation. I think I'll take your words for it, not worry about too much, hope that the weight starts moving on its own and my desire to eat every 2.5 hours in order to get energy diminishes.... The thing that worries me a bit, is that he said 'because you're tall, you should be losing more quickly'. Well, that clearly isn't happening. My weightloss appear to be very slowwwwww.. Oh well... I guess I'll just have to carry on regardless and try not to listen to the little voice in the back of my head saying 'if you don't lose it within a year, you're screwed...' -
Anyone else received a dodgy email today like the below, requesting that you respond to someone offline and with your private email address? "hello dear, my Name is miss ******* i am here to seek for your friendship please contact me to tell you more about me (*********@yahoo.com)please my good lovely friend do not contact me in this site try to contact me in my privet Email id with your own contact Email address," If you have, I wouldn't respond to it. I disliked the look of it so much, I reported it. Looks decidedly like an intro to email hacking/scamming/419 fraud. Revs x

I've just ordered a ham and pineapple pizza and chicken tenders from Domino's. The human dustbin that is sat next to me will be consuming most of it, but i shall thoroughly enjoy the 6 bites of quality saturated fat I'm going to get in whilst watching Star Wars. Happy Saturdays. Huzzah! -
Today, with my hair all messy and a cup of coffee in hand, my scale said the following: 99.9kgs Oh yes indeedy. That is NOT over 100 kilos and NOT in the 3 digits any more. Yipppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

You're doing great. Hang on in there and enjoy the broth!

Flaky scalp, splitting nails -what am i missing
Madam Reverie replied to UK Cathy's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
It's fish oil - effectively. So, cod liver and other fish oil tablets/liquid. If you're hard core, you can take the liquid straight (however, i wouldn't do this unless it has a strong flavour in it, like orange, to mask the gross taste). Texture is bad, too, because it's oil you're having to swallow. If you can swallow tablets well, I'd do it that way. It's great stuff. Awful to taste, but very very good for you. Alternatively, eat waaaay more good quality fish. -

Thanks, folks. x NMJG, reflux not too bad now, thank you. Still have to be careful - not eating/drinking before bed, being careful with what I eat, sleeping upright, etc.. But it is definitely improving! I might not have this forever after all Yay! -

How much are you eating? Are you eating regularly enough? I find if I don't eat every 2.5 hours, I'm the same way. I'd introduce a small amount of trail mix to chomp on.. Good quality, low GI, blood sugar stabilising stuff. -

4 weeks post-op troubles
Madam Reverie replied to melliratt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Allegedly and according to my Nutritionist, 7-10 day stall is totally normal at the 3-5 week stage. Mine lasted 2.5 weeks. Bounced around .02 and .07 of a kilo repeatedly. Don't freak.. Your break will come.. -

Narcolepsy - Does anyone else suffer from it after they eat?!
Madam Reverie posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It is weird.. During the day I'm fine, but the moment I have my dinner I just cannot stay awake. I literally spin out and pass out. 30 minutes sleep and I'm good to go, however I don't want this to be the state of play for the rest of my days. Can you imagine it?! You go out for dinner with friends and you promptly want to pass out face down into your dinner plate?! It's like I've reached my dotage. Blue plate specials because I have to be in bed by 19:30hrs... Not groovy! -
Narcolepsy - Does anyone else suffer from it after they eat?!
Madam Reverie replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Too right.... I'm finding this all largely based on guess work... Consequently, I'm thinking; if I eat little during the day, am I okay to eat properly (or more substantially) at night? Is it anything carb related that makes me sleepy? Or is it the quantity? I shall certainly be asking for some definites from the professional on the 28th. We were told 'don't focus on calories - focus on protein'.. Well, what if that 'focus' is a veritable mountain of Protein through the afternoon and evening?! Oh, I give up! -
Narcolepsy - Does anyone else suffer from it after they eat?!
Madam Reverie replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have no idea.. But as it stands, I can eat every 2.5 hours.. and feel it if I don't. This is not head-hunger. This is running around and then wooosh, the batteries run flat. Like seriously flat. I am seeing my nutritionist on the 28th, so I hope he can come up with something. I have not been sick once since surgery. Have had a couple of mouthfuls get stuck because I didn't chew it well enough; but I've not 'pushed it' and had an adverse reaction. Consequently, I wonder when it comes to the evening 'when is full, actually full?' Seems like a silly question, but I do worry that I am stretching my sleeve...
