Anyone else have a 'healthy' spouse and
Madam Reverie replied to Wires's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yes indeedy... But this was more with my former partner. Emphasis on the 'former'. The current incumbent met me chunky and has seen me through my surgery and still loves me for who I am. I am lucky. Saying it as it is - I wrecked my former relationship. I was jealous, irrational, had critically low self-esteem, buried myself in my career and basically pushed him away. Although in saying that, he was in no way perfect either and his peccadillo's were more than the average person would be prepared to deal with... All my fears and neuroses became self-fulfilling prophecies. A hard lesson to learn - but I'm glad I learnt it. Your husband loved you then. So much so, he married you. What gives you any reason to think he doesn't still love you? You say he gives you no reason to feel insecure.. Try to remember there are two of you in this together and if everything else (apart from this) is good, you need to perhaps 'think of him' sometimes. Its so easy to get bogged down in the Protein, the appointments, doctors, bariatric nurses. It might prove a healthy distraction from the arguments caused by your insecurities - but it also might, too, get on his nerves a bit in 'another thing to add to the pot' kind of way. I'm not saying you're ignoring him - or even causing excessive discord... But if you're arguing about these things and you're worried about it - and you love him and want to make this transition as smooth as possible? Perhaps try and talk about your insecurities with a counsellor - or your husband. You never know what can happen... Failing that, in the interim and if you're feeling a bit blue about it? Hows about a few date nights for the two of you and enjoying each others company, spoiling each other, whilst leaving the insecurities at home... I wish you the best of luck -

I'm 4 months out and I've been stalled for a good couple-three weeks. Moving again today though. All of a sudden - whoosh! Down a kilo! Yippppeee! Hang on in there -

Has weight loss surgery made you rethink your career?
Madam Reverie replied to mistysj's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm now God.... Oh wait, that's my internal dialogue coming out. Okay, I'll go for Obama's job when he leaves it... Oh wait, I'm British. Okay, I'll go for not being 'the work-horse of the team' (as I was once referred at 9pm on a Friday evening whilst still in the office). I'll continue to reach for the stars and feel physically and mentally confident in doing so. That'll do me -
Pasta?!
Madam Reverie replied to Carol Quabeck Boyer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't bother with Pasta hardly at all. I might have a couple of mouthfuls if its in a lasagne.. Other than that, it just seems like a big waste of space.... Doesn't taste of much and whoomf, it expands and can make you feel crappy... I wouldn't bother, if you're not hankering for it. -

My ability (or lack thereof) to consume plain roasted chicken breast tells me otherwise.... Unless, of course, there's a global conspiracy to bring down the chicken market! -

I think this is along the same lines as when people think they have a right to touch a pregnant woman's belly... Id've snatched my wrist back pronto.... -
Not doing good with foods!
Madam Reverie replied to sweetjam69's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you taking it in the morning? If so, what time does the lump sensation come on? -
Not doing good with foods!
Madam Reverie replied to sweetjam69's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes certain PPI will work for one person and won't for the next. Which one did they give you and what size is it? I suffer from GERD if I don't take mine - and I had the constant lump sensation. I'm on 20mg twice a day of Omeprazole. I've also cut out a load of things that aggravate it - citrus, etc. -
Not doing good with foods!
Madam Reverie replied to sweetjam69's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the lump feeling and food does not sound good. I'm never nauseous but I have had the feeling that I may gag if I yet to eat. I wondered about the lump feeling. It's not a feeling of something stuck in my throat but like sitting down my esophagus The lump sensation is an indicator of excess acid.. have you been given a PPI to take? -
Cracking job! You look amazing, well done

I HAVE BEEN SLEEVED!

Aww, many many congratulations. Hope you heal quickly. Welcome to the losers club -
I never thought I'd say this, but..
Madam Reverie replied to Seela's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm the queen of paranoia these days. My mind hasn't caught up with my body, so when people look, I instantly think 'oh lord, have I got lipstick all over my teeth?' 'Have I spilt tea down my font?' More often than not and now men glance, my internal dialogue says 'WHAT are you looking AT?!'... This might be accompanied by a defensive 'stare down' moment. I don't like it. Being invisible worked for me. I feel like my privacy has been invaded -
Oh boy! I need some support folks!
Madam Reverie replied to Antonette's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In answer: 1) Yes, abso-bleedin'-lutely. I had such a wobble, I postponed my surgery and ran away on holiday for a week to 'think' about it.... I wrote down the pros and the cons. The pros won and I got sleeved on the 19th September. 2) As above. I got very nervous, 20 minutes before I walked into theatre. I reminded myself of the pros and cons as above, strode in, head held high and knew I was doing the right thing. You have to be sure of your pros and cons. If you do yourself a list, you'll be seeing everything in black and white. My cons were largely focussed on 'what if I didn't have this surgery?'. The results were shocking.. and voluminous in comparison. The cons were VERY sobering... As for the soft foods? Out and about in restaurants? Soft veggies, roast meats, gravy, prawns in sauce.. Chew really well and you'll be totally fine. Best of luck with your list -

Madam Reverie replied to leslie1958's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I don't know whether you would be able access this - as it is on a British website - but this is the channel over here that is showing the series 'Fat Surgeons'. This is the link to both series and all the episodes. Hopefully it'll work for you all. You may have to register to access. Fingers crossed! http://really.uktv.co.uk/shows/fat-surgeons/watch-online/#2094920414001 -

She is a friends friend and I had never even met her before, I was discussing it with my friend when she chimed in. Woah! I'dve replied 'Excuse me?!! And you are?!!' Oof... I wouldn't have taken that lightly.. I'm sorry you had that. Lets hope your real friend turned to this woman afterwards and said 'Yo, dude, you were bang out of order there...'
