lol Is that supposed to be 'incoming'.. tut tut. I'm not bored now, obviously. People are uttering things other than how many edamame Beans they've consumed. Deep and meaningful? Mentally stretching and thought provoking? No - but neither was the rant. That's why it's in the rant and raves section in the first place. Breaks the tedium. But not, sadly, the tedium of apparent attempted digs... -

I sadly think you're mistaken. I can fall in love on a daily basis with wine, gin, vodka, lasagne, cocktails.... -

I will try not to bore you with my comments. And I won't take your comment about the others personally either. But I will say one thing and hope you understand this....When I am done here I have no plans to run away when things get a little to tough to handle or I need to have a break. I plan to stick around and help some who really need to be helped. Just like others did for me. Ouch by the way. Slap! No one was slapping, RJ! -

I haven't written a book. Clearly you're talking about the Amazon book. You can buy it for Kindle download. I saw that. Its handy. I like technological developments. But I also still like the feel of old and fusty books. What a quandary. As for the 'others'. I have no idea. I'm too wrapped up in my own personal fabulousness (read 'boredom') to worry -

You want snazzy? Steal a bit of Kafka.. How's about... <insert drum roll> Metamorphosis! Cue snazzy flashing lights AND literary credibility - all in one move! Oh yeah, and I'll expect a citation in the footnotes somewhere for that bit of genius -

It's a calamitous swim up a Protein infested stream! I'm not saying you shouldn't post about yourself, after all, that's our knowledge base. Could we make the posts a little bit more varied and interesting? As for self publication - you got it. Right here, baby! Forgive me if I won't purchase it though. I am saving up my pennies for more edamame Beans and protein powder Are you a published author as well? Sorry but mine is a journey...and I am liking it.......if you are a prime member and have a Kindle, maybe you can borrow it for free, at least humor me and read the Amazon reviews.. or we can talk about my Blood Pressure Now now, no need to get defensive! As for being published? Yes, actually, I am. Sadly, my stuff is not fiction or autobiographical. As for your book, I did read the reviews and the precis. No offense intended, but its not really my sort of thing. Sounds like a heart-rending very human story though. Not many go through that and come out the other side in tact, so many congratulations on surviving something so devastating and coming out the other end so positively. As for what you call this stage in your life and the process you're undertaking right now with your weight loss - you can call it whatever you like! There's no judgement. I just prefer not to use the word 'journey'. It's a bit too 'on the sofa with Oprah' for me. Its a case of 'each to their own'. I like that aspect of life. Different strokes, for different folks, whatever makes you.. happppppyyyyyy! (as the song goes) -

Start away! I'll contribute! And for the record, flattery will get you everywhere! As it stands, I don't need to read another article today (having, in truth, no knowledge of what 'Focus' is). I have done enough academic journals to scare the most dedicated of academics. Sadly, I have learnt nothing to which I could contribute to this site and would enhance any currently posted discussions. Never fear, however. I have embraced banality! I am watching the film Fracture. Because its got the marvelous Anthony Hopkins in it? Because the story line isn't bad? Nope.. Because Ryan Gosling is in it and he would get it. Big stylee Now, look at my half nekkid picture. Doesn't it make you want to touch yourself. It does me -

The Sleeve Gastrectomy and How and Why it can Fail (Surgery Current Research 2014 publication)
Madam Reverie replied to Escape_Pod's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Fascinating... 1 in 14 had dilation (that's a low figure on balance) And physical ghrelin compensation should be considered.... That's the little beast that makes us hungry. Ergo, there are cerebral and hormonal checks and balances which potentially need to come into play more heavily to ensure, along with dietry compliance, that we stay on the straight and narrow. I'll be honest. I'm 6 months out and I am hungry. I was not one of the lucky ones whose appetite disappeared. I cannot eat a huge amount in one sitting, but I can surely graze regularly. I'm not saying I'm chowing down on horrendous things either, but I can absolutely state that at 5 months, my capacity to eat went up considerably and I see, personally, that I'm going to have to really work at this - for life. Its almost like its the same beast which beat me up daily before the surgery. i concur with the statements in the report. I would also advocate they channel the research funding into working out how to combat the ghrelin and physical compensatory mechanism. After all, it is well proven that someone who loses their sight, often get acute hearing abilities. This is where I feel the weakness in this procedure, for the majority of us and due to the fact that for most, follow-up care is minimal, lies. Scary stuff... -
my boyfriend doesn't approve of the surgery

Smells a bit like any efforts you make towards the weight loss, is only going to make him have to look at his own eating behaviours... Its admirable that he is open minded towards enumerate things, but something that struck a chord with me, on reading your reply, is the 'Ive always dated women and he's the first man I've ever been with' mixed with the 'I'll end the relationship if you do this'.. Maybe I'm way off base here, but he's not one of those sorts that's a bit, well, controlling and wants to be the one, the only one, who facilitates and enforces the changes in your life? I'm sure he's amazing on many levels.. But I can't help but get the heebie-jeebies about this one... x -
Oh, there'd only be one way to go for me on this one... Humour. In response to the question about excess skin, I'd get REALLY over-excited about it. I'd emphatically and conspiratorially touch her arm, leaning close to her face whilst giving a 'howl-at-the-moon-mad' maniacal grin and state in hushed determined tones: Oh, I know, it's going to be BRILLIANT! I'm going to harvest as much as I can and have the whole thing cut off and transferred to my butt. Why? Because, and I don't know whether you knew, <looking to the left and the right> but I only had the bariatric surgery done in order to emulate my most favourite person in the world... Kim Kardashian' <adding an extra sigh of hushed reverence> At which point, I would produce a laminated picture of the following, press it into her hands and say whilst borderline shrieking 'I'll look amazing, WONT I?!!!!!' Then I'd skip off into a different room leaving them dumbfounded.... (I know, I need mental help, but if you can't beat them - join them! )

Okay, I am going to be blunt. (Primarily because I feel angry on your behalf) Is he Mr Right? Or Mr. Right now? Its YOUR life, your body, your health. Anyone who truly loved you, wouldn't make threats. They'd listen, they'd read about things themselves, they would try to see it from both sides. Even if at the end of it, they weren't comfortable. If they'd made efforts to be fully informed, discussed the risks/rewards/statistics and THEN said they weren't happy - I could kinda empathise with that. However, anyone who makes threats, directly or indirectly, is a d-ick. Fact. I know you may love him and this may indeed come a place of insecurity, worry and love. But who loves someone then threatens to leave them - because of a surgery?! Scrap the should I, shouldn't I element in all this. I'd be focussing on how your partner threatened to leave you. That, is a very telling and negative thing indeed.... -

I'd say drink more fluids to move things along. You'll be peeing like the proverbial race horse, but whilst you're taking it easy on the food, more fluids can only be a good thing. You'll be peeing out all the weight in no time -

Oh lordy, I'm only kidding, kids. Although, i haven't been in receipt of an email to be fair. I shall duly check. Besides, I am not the type run a meeting anyway. I can barely run a bath Wouldn't mind turning up to some of yours though - if my butt gets back to the States sometime this year. Indigo and I can be the Scottish party contingent! -

No one emailed me. I don't know whether to be offended or relieved?! Muahaha -
Yes, us Brits don't do 'take home' usually. As Cathy said - you get foil, or nothing. As for signing a disclaimer on the fish? Yep, I can see that. We developed those litigious tendencies from you lot across the pond. That aside, we're not the types to re-heat fish anyway, purely because of how far certain fish have to travel - so that might have something to do with it. My advice? Eat fresh and eat once. Snacks for home? Get stuff with a longer shelf life.

You shouldn't be throwing up What are you eating? Have you spoken to your surgeon yet? If not, you should do. Throwing up so early and so regularly, can only be doing you harm. If you're trying to push the envelope on what you're eating - I suggest you stop, go back to clear fluids/protein drinks for a while. In the meantime, contact your hospital/surgeons office.
