I am almost 8 months Post Op and have never been happier! I was so tired of being overweight, and struggling to truly find myself again. I had been through many diets, used weight watchers, online sights meant to track food, medical weight loss clinics, and although I would lose some weight it would never really get me enough because of the plateau's and couldn't get past them and would end up gaining the weight back and then more. I decided to focus my energies inside and I knew I needed help to get where I needed to be, mentally, physically and energetically. So I did a lot of research and worked with the Dr for 6 months prior to going through this life changing operation. I was excited, nervous and scared. Happy to finally come to peace with making a decision that would impact myself and those I love for the rest of my life. The surgery itself went very well, and I was up and walking around within a few hours of my surgery. The next two days after going home I began second guessing my surgery and my decision, I had a reaction to the Whey protein, which I had taken with no complications before surgery. I couldn't get protein in from whey and ended up using soy and vegan proteins, those soft foods couldn't come fast enough! Once I was able to get to eat foods again, my mental health improved dramatically. I lost weight rapidly at first simply because I didn't get much in and it was amazing how little I could eat. Over time I am able to eat more, and have plenty of food choices now. I am down over 80 pounds and am so happy!! I work out regularly now and do my best to eat healthy choices and make my food count. I do have an occasional splurge :) I need to be able to reward myself too. I am so happy with this life decision and I feel great, look great and most importantly I am a much healthier person!! If you are considering this surgery, know you are not alone there are many people here to help you through your process. It will be a roller coaster ride and if you know that going in you will be in a much better place mentally to get through those dips you will have.
