My husband and I both had the sleeve done in 2013. I've lost roughly 90lbs along with having a baby as well. I've been sticking to Protein shakes and lean meats/vegetables while trying to stay under 1200 calories. It's still hard to lose the baby weight and I'm currently 181. My husband on the other hand has lost about 200lbs. He is 6'1 and now 180ish. His calorie goal is 1600, but most times he is getting 1200-1500 according to his food log. He is almost too skinny now and is still losing. He doesn't work out and gets most of his calories from beer and chips after a healthy dinner. I'm afraid he is going to keep losing and sacrifice his health. I know he never meets his protein goal and overstates his intake. Vitamins just sit in the cabinet unmoved. Guys, I'm looking for advice to relay and I would like to know your calories/protein goals. I've explained to him he needs more protein and at least 1800 calories. Am I over reacting or should I be worried? I've even asked him to see a nutritionist, but he declines. Not sure what else to tell him.

How much did you gain?
skinnyphotog replied to Banana14's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
8 months post partum...just got my first period. I'm just now getting restriction back, since we are just about done breastfeeding. I gained more breastfeeding than the whole pregnancy! Lost all the pregnancy weight shortly after birth only to gain it all back...25lbs or so. So happy to start feeling normal again. Lost 8lbs in the last 1.5 weeks. 203 down to 195...hoping to reach 175 soon!! -
How much did you gain?

I started at 178, dropped to 175, then delivered at 200. Within a week or two, I was back down to 181. Started breastfeeding and gained it all back. I fluctuate 190-200 right now. Little one is 5months and restriction is gone it seems. Ready to wean him to get back on track. -
Breastfeeding 2 years post op
skinnyphotog replied to soonenough162's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I too am experiencing no restriction while breastfeeding! Pre-pregnancy I weighed 178 and at delivery 200. Within one week or so post partum I weighed 181 and felt so excited that I might actually weigh less than before...weight was dropping fast and I was eating right. However, when my milk came in, I was drawn to carbs and started eating constantly. My baby is 3months now and breastfeeding well; however, I am now 198 and I feel every bit of it. Super stressed about the weight gain, but know nursing is best for baby. Keep thinking about weaning, but I'd feel like a failure. If I see 200 again, I might flip! Clothes don't fit and I feel like a pudge! Afraid if I limit calories my milk will diminish. I never anticipated the hunger while breastfeeding and this is baby #2. -
I'm almost 6 months out and decided to have the mirena put in about two months ago. Since then, I've only lost about 10bs. Im starting to believe that the mirena has slowed my weight loss significantly. I'm definitely not done losing weight and I am now considering having the mirena removed. I also noticed my hair starting falling out after the mirena was placed, thankfully I have thick hair. I was doing great until the mirena, down 70lbs before I had it placed. I specifically asked the doctor if it could pose any problems losing weight and I was told no. Anyone else experience problems with the IUD after surgery? sw 272, current 195, 5'6.

Any recommendations on prenatal Vitamin brands? And additional supplements? Is there a particular brand you've tried and didn't like?

For those that are pregnant, How many calories are you getting each day? Do you have a daily goal or just listen to your body? Are you gaining/losing weight at that amount? Are you working out? I haven't seen my new OB yet and I haven't found much information online about vsg and pregnancy. Just want to make sure I'm getting enough in and still have a healthy pregnancy. I'm one year post op and still not to goal...maybe about 30lbs to go, so I have room to lose. The past few months I've been maintaining my weight, but now that I'm pregnant I've lost a few pounds. Just worried about eating enough, but not gaining a ton of weight either. TIA!

Just an update...I've lost 6lbs since having the mirena removed three weeks ago. The last and final month I had the mirena in, I only lost 3lbs total. It's made a huge difference having it out. My hair isn't falling out anymore and I'm not craving bad food. I'm so glad I made the decision to have it removed...ready to get to goal!! Only 9lbs till my next goal...175.

Waiting at the doctors office to have my mirena removed. Decided to double check my weightloss progression on MFP...down only 2lbs in the last month. I know this is the right decision now! Still have about 50lbs to go. Ready to jump start my loss again!

The only way I can drink Water is with lemon. Lemon also helps curb appetite and aids in digestion. Also a great detox! I'm always buying fresh lemon, since I can't drink anything else but lemon water. I'm six months post op and have tried all sorts of drinks...nothing tastes as good and refreshing as lemon water. Can't do crystal light, g2, or mio...too sweet. I used to be a big milk drinker before surgery, now I don't even touch it because it hurts.

I just made the phone call to my doctor to set up an appointment! Wanted it out yesterday, but it'll be the end of next week. It can't come soon enough!! Besides not losing weight, it's painful during intercourse...ready to be mirena free!

what to get at red lobster 5 weeks post op.
skinnyphotog replied to birdmadgirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went a few days ago and shared a "you pick two meal" with my three year old and mother... I still couldn't eat it all. We picked salmon and grilled shrimp. I was super stuffed and had some left over too. -
How many weeks off
skinnyphotog replied to christy38's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 2.5 weeks out I photographed a wedding for at least 8hours. Mind you, this consisted of alot of running around, bending, and stooping...and sweating. I was worried before my surgery that I wouldn't be able to make the entire night, but it wasn't too bad. Maybe the 30lb weight loss helped. I made sure to drink lots and lots of water! -
I am one week out from surgery today and still in a fairly good amount of pain. I am struggling with getting down my Nexium, which they directed to sprinkle into a drink. I cannot help but to gag with the Nexium when sprinkled. I'm still on Clear liquids and barely sipping enough Water. I just tried mixing it with watered down applesauce...no bueno! None of it when down. Any suggestions on how to take this gross stuff? Anyone just take the pill itself without sprinkling it?
-
Called my doctor and they are giving me a different RX, but said I might still have the same issue...so we will see. They still don't want me to ingest the Nexium pill form due to healing.

thinking about food

For some reason, I want to watch cooking shows now. I'm one week out, maybe it tricks my brain into thinking that I'm actually eating it! -
Trying to talk husband out of the band
skinnyphotog replied to skinnyphotog's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you all for your stories, I will definitely share them with him. All I can do for him is to provide him with information, ultimately it is his decision and he knows that I'll support him either way. He is afraid of the sleeve, because it cannot be reversed. However, I'm afraid that he will need to endure another surgery later on down the road with the band, like most band patients, to remove or fix it. I only want the best for him and feel like the band isn't :/ Again thank you all for sharing! It makes me more excited going into this tomorrow. Maybe I'll be skinny again soon -
I am set to have the sleeve TOMORROW! My husband is a couple of months behind me in the pre-op process and is considering the Lapband. I really wish he would consider the sleeve and I have given him a few reasons to switch. Those of you who have had both, can you give him/I some advice and why he should have the sleeve instead? He is hard headed and I don't think he has done enough research :/ his mother has the Lapband and she has had complications, but he only sees the weight she has lost. I think his judgement is a little clouded... I'm praying he changes his mind! Super nervous for my surgery! liquid diet is killing me
