Ok I have an update. I went to the Dr last week and got Chantix. My Doctor told me to take it for 3 weeks before I attempted quitting. Unfortunately, I didn't have 3 weeks. My surgery is the 12th, and I have to be two weeks smoke free. Yesterday was my first totally smokefree day in over 22yrs. It was a lot easier than I expected. I was even able to sit outside and watch the bf smoke with no major issues. Feeling really good about this whole quitting thing now!

I'm the 12th as well. I have to do 7 days liquid diet. I'm not looking forward to the shakes. Good luck!

I hope mine comes that fast. I also did passport card and expedited it. I believe I applied Aug 21 ...whichever day Wednesday was. Anyhow that was exactly 3 weeks from scheduled flight.

Did you expedite?

Ok so last Wednesday I mailed out my deposit. I have tracked it and know its there at the post office in Eagles Pass. My liquid diet is supposed to start by Thursday at latest. I guess they didn't go get mail today, which means I still have no clue as to what my liquid diet will be. I'm starting to really get upset. I have taken so long to plan this and like to be prepared for everything I do. This isn't my norm, I feel like it will have to be rushed now. Ugh!! Other than this hiccup the rest of the process has been pretty smooth. Maybe I'm just obsessing and being impatient. Either way, sorry for the vent but I have no support outside of this group as I have chose to keep the surgery to myself. Thanks.

Thanks so much! I will head out to Sams now. Premade sounds a lot easier for now. What I have is chocolate that tastes great with skim milk, but gets so thick I can barely stand to drink it.

I just booked my flight as well! I'm really nervous to be flying on 9-11. My surgery is the 12th with Dr. Alvarez :-) I am super nervous and excited at the same time. I went vitamin shopping yesterday for the first time in my life! Also I have to get some kind of protein shakes. I have Bariatric Advantage chocolate right now left over from some fad diet I tried at the beginning of the year. I have to start my pre-op on Wednesday and I'm scared to death I won't be able to do it.

Hi everyone! Ok so I have a surgery date of 9/12/13. I fly in on the 11th. I'm getting down to almost no time with this. I have been in close contact with Susan during all this, but until they pick up my deposit on Monday, I am just waiting. I know she has confirmation of deposit she will send me a bunch of stuff that includes all instructions. I am 5ft 3in and about 220. If anyone close tp me knows a little more than I do about this pre-op stuff and what all I will have to do, please be a doll and share. Thanks :-)

I too am all of those. My sugery is the 12th in Mexico. I'm going solo and flying out on 9-11. Pretty nervous about the whole thing.

I will fly into San Antonio, then driven to Eagle Pass, Tx. Then stay there one night and be picked up the next morning and taken 10 mins over the boarder to the hospital :-)

I just got my labs bad yesterday. Luckily, mine are all normal. I don't have any co-morbidities, so may main focus right now is stop the smoking and pre-op diet.

Hi everyone! I am scheduled for 09/12 with Dr. Alvarez in Mexico. Kinda nervous about flying on 9/11 but it should be fine I hope. I'm getting very excited. Started my Chantix today, and next Wednesday begins my 2 week pre-op diet. Hope to find some people that will be there around that time. I am planning to bring a friend, but that may not work out.

Wow! They got lucky. I would never attempt going without a passport of some kind.

I am also a lower bmi, around 35. I am 36, 5ft 3.5in, highest known weight 218, currently bouncing around from 205-210. I have been losing and regaining the same 50lbs for the last 6yrs. I also have no problem losing weight, but maintaining the weight loss is where I can't seem to get it right. Even though I can lose weight if I work at it very hard, I have never been able to achieve a normal bmi. Now after years of gaining and losing the same 50lbs over and over it seems to be affecting my health. I now have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and heart disease. I have chosen Dr. Alvarez in Mexico for my surgery. I am going Aug 13th to my Dr. here to have bloodwork done. Then applying for my passport card and booking the surgery. I'm hoping I'll be able to pick a day within the first two weeks of Sept. Good luck to everyone!
