December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
HoustonTexanFan replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well I was scheduled to have surgery at the end of December but I called an had mine rescheduled for the 1st week of January. I really would like to do in December because I'm very anxious, but my choice is based mainly on deductible issues. I want the max out of pocket fees I spend on surgery to cover me a whole year, not just 2 weeks! Idk maybe I'm crazy.... -

Need Input!!! This is what I've been considering, don't think I'm crazy. Ok as u no from my last post I have 1 more visit to complete supervised visit an then have egd to do an psych eval. I was going to finish everything by the 15th so I could have surgery by the end of December, but now I'm considering having the egd an psych eval dne first week of January. Now of course I dnt want to wait but at the same time I'm thinkn about my deductible an max out if pocket fees. If I do in January I'm covered for the whole year of 2014 without paying a dime all year! What is your thoughts on this? Am I over thinking this? Another plus is Christmas an partying/drinking for New Years! Lol Input please??? -

My last dietitian appointment is November 5 an then we can submit to insurance. My dr told me that my surgery will be in December! -
Well ladies had my first visit with dr Scarborough at tlc today, and a little excited now. Come to find out uhc does want 6 month weight loss supervised diet but it does not have to be consecutively! Yay! Also they diet with physician can go back 2 years, so I no I have 2 months covered for sure. I no have to do 4 months with dietitian a psych eval and a egd. I'm hoping to have surgery in December so I dnt have to meet my deductible all over again. Dr says we have pretty good chance as long as I do appointment with dietitian this month September October an November we can submit. Getting excited!

Supervised diet 4 insurance approval & losing weight!
HoustonTexanFan posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been currently completing my insurance requirements for approval to get sleeve. I'm doing the 6 month supervised diet program now an I'm losing weight fast. If I loose to much weight will I still be able to have wls? Don't they go by your initial weight? I've lost weight before with diets but the weight always comes back worse! I would rather get the surgery for the long term affect. -

HoustonTexanFan replied to MrsAnders's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I also have a lot of pre op requirements but its mainly based on your insurance company an what they require. It's a journey for sure a long process of different things that need to be completed. I hope to be done with everything December 1, an hope to have surgery by then end of December. Yay! -
Pre OP testing
HoustonTexanFan replied to MrsAnders's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tuesday was my first visit with surgeon an he didn't order any testing for me to have fine. We mainly talked about which surgery i wanted where he wanted me to be at on the scale an then he introduced me to the lady that explains all of insurance requirements. He also talked to me about the egd that you have to have before your wls. It's a day surgery where a scope goes down your throat to your tummy area ( I think) lol. -

HoustonTexanFan replied to leelah68's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm also going to be in December(hopefully) if everything goes as planned. I won't be through with supervised diet program until first week of December, so that's when my info will be submitted for insurance approval. Hopefully it's a quick response of yes because I want to get done in December before the new year an new deductible hits! Lol -

United Healthcare (Optimum Health Bariatric Resources)
HoustonTexanFan replied to SuNMooNStaRS816's topic in Insurance & Financing
I also have uhc with the bariatric resource an my plan requires me to meet my 600$ deductible an then after deductible I have to pay 20% of procedures done afterwards. Also my maximum out of pocket fees will be 3500$. The way I see it is even if I have to pay the whole 3500 it will so be worth it in the end. I would rather pay a portion than the whole thing
