My surgery is September 12th. I start my pre-op liquid diet tomorrow. I'm drinking lots of soda today, knowing it will be my last day ever, to drink soda. I look forward to a new healther life!

I confided in my supervisor what type of surgery I'm having, and asked her to not tell anyone. At this point, I've decided that I will tell my co-workers eventually, I'm not sure if it will be before or after my surgery (Sept 12). We go out for lunch for everyone's birthdays, and the holidays coming up means more snack food brought into the office. Since we eat lunch together once/month or so, I will tell my co-workers. They will suspect something is different anyway, since I'll be having protein shakes, jello, etc., for awhile after surgery. I just don't want my co-workers to be offended if I don't eat the food they bring in, or eat at their birthday lunches (I'll still go on the lunches with everyone, but won't eat with them for a few months).

I'm also in September (12th). I'm nervous, but also very excited to a new me!

I spent at least 2 months doing research, I was adamant on having the lap band done. After learning about the sleeve, I was drawn to it, and then I was against being banded due to many complications that I’ve read others have gone through. Here is my journey: July 8 – Met with surgeon for the first time July 10 – Had upper GI July 18 – Met with dietician July 22 – Scheduled surgery for September 12 July 25 – Received a phone call saying that insurance has approved surgery July 20 – Received insurance confirmation in mail August 21 – Will have a 2-hour class with other soon-to-be-sleevers, to review pre-op liquid diet, what to expect while in the hospital, etc 1st week in September - Will have a pre-op pysical, do blood work, etc September 12 - Surgery date!

Mine is scheduled for September 12th!!!

I'm not from Chicago, but from Illinois. I'll be having my surgery (Sept 12) in Urbana.
