  1. lawree,

I am curious as to how many calories you are getting in a day. I am 2 weeks out and only down 8 pounds. I have been getting my Protein and Water requirements in but only at about 400-500 calories per day. I have been at 250.2-250.4 for the last 6 days. So Im wondering if maybe I am not getting enough calories? Thanks! and congrats on your recovery, mine has been very smooth also!

I am in the same boat-- 15 days and 11 pounds down. But I lost ten on pre-op diet, so I am fine with it. As long as it's going, i don't care the pace! Good luck!

  2. I had the same problem with the funny smell from the Protein shakes. I tried several different brands, and they all were horrible. Not the taste, but the smell. I finally found one I love. It has no funny smell, or taste. I use Isopure Low Carb. I get it at GNC. I've only tried the dutch chocolate flavor, but I am sure the others are good too. I'm 3 months out and still do 2 shakes a day. I swear the Protein Shakes are the key to how fast I have lost. I'm down 72 pounds at 3 months. I think the Protein keeps me full, and keeps me from craving other foods.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you weigh to start? Your loss is really motivating! WOW!

  3. Hi All,

What are you favorite VSG and WLS blogs? I've found a few:

    beareatric

    Bariatric Beginings

    Chubby Mcghee

    sleevers.wordpress.com

    bariatricfoodie

    Miles to go

    and of course... theworldaccordingtoeggface

I also like mine, of course: greeknugget.blogspot.com. Today I wrote about my husband passing out and hitting his head on my IV stand!

But! I want more! Please share.

    thanks!

  4. I planned for everything.... except for my husband passing out after watching my drain removal! Ha!

More on that here, along with other post-op talk:

In all seriousness, if your partner/family member is easily nauseous, maybe keep him/her out of the room when the drain is taken out!

  5. I had my surgery on the 11th and I'm not gonna lie to ya...I'm 3 days post-op and in pain, BUT, I have pain medicine, I walk (helps with pain), and I am following my surgeons instructions. However, none of that is stopping me from whinning, I'm a pain wimp! It hurts but everytime I hurt I tell myself how worth it that this surgery is. Everyday the pain has gotten less, I just wish I could poop but that's another story!!! Please don't let my comments about pain or anyone else's make you change your mind about having this surgery because I promise you once you have it and are on the mend you are going to be so happy...especially when the pounds start coming off and staying off!!! :D

Thinking of you! the pain does get better! I was two days ahead of you. I pooped today! Never thought I'd say that publically, but it was a huge deal and I lost 1.5 pounds from it! You can do this! You've got it. Hugs!

  6. Sassy sleevers on Fb is great, and I have a separate September sleevers group. Just email me your address and I'll add you.

I had surgery Monday. Today is a great day, but it's still hard to get Protein and Water in. I'm on full liquids for a month and I don't think those include mashed potatoes or cottage cheese. But! I'm ok with that because it sounds horrible right now.

Anyone off pain meds? I think I will be by next week.
