    Pain when drinking/eating

Thank you all so much for your responses. I feel much better now knowing that is the case. I think it is getting better everyday. Best wishes to you all!
  2. Get rid of the scale and only weigh at Dr. Apts. I NEVER weigh at home. I won't know until tomorrow what my post op weight is at my 9 day follow up apt. Good luck, but my advise is just get rid of it. You will feel the weight loss.
  3. Hi, I am post op 7 days today and I had a small hiatal hernia repair as well when I was sleeved. I had my upper GI done and they noticed that my liquids weren't going "through" very fast into my stomach and kept me another day in the hospital. So, my concern/question is, has anyone else experienced this slight pain a few seconds after drinking shake/water/broth about mid sternum right in the middle. It only last a few seconds but it is pretty sharp. I haven't had any issue keeping anything down, but I don't get in as much as I should be. My surgeon feels it is just an issue with inflamation since I am able to keep things down and not feeling sick. Just looking for some comfort from others that might have experienced the same issues as I am with the liquids moving down slowly. The gurgling and weird sounds in the process too are strange. I see my Weight Management tomorrow for follow up and on the 19th follow up with surgeon. Thinking he may test for leak again, however if there was a leak, I think I would know it????

Anxiety Sufferers Pre and Post op

I just re read your post and it made me feel really good. I had terrible Anxiety over the weekend, which causes me to have heart palpitations and that freaks me out!!! Because then it spirals thinking something is wrong with my heart, am I okay, should I go to the hospital. I think I need to find some ways of learning deep breathing exercises, and start excercising more as I know that too will help with the anxiety. Thanks for your post, it really made me feel better. :-) Hope you are doing well, looks like you have had an amazing journey!

Anxiety Sufferers Pre and Post op

Thanks, I like your last paragraph because most of my anxiety is based on health issues, low self esteem, and feeling physically incapable of doing anything. I'm pretty sure the emotional anxiety issues stems from my weight because I never had the anxiety until I was getting heavier and heavier and obsessing over my weight. Thanks for your reply! All the information I can get is going to help. :-)
  6. Good luck, you will do great and starting the first day of your new life! :-)
  7. Good morning, I have terrible anxiety at times because I "think" to much. And of course now Pre-Op I have anxiety thinking "will I be able to handle this, will it make my anxiety worse", and so on. Has anyone experienced their anxiety going away or at least lessening severly based on weight loss? I am hopeing that once I am feeling better about myself and loving me, that my anxiety might start to subside. Any information would be greatful, I am planning for surgery in January. Thanks, Shannon :-)
  8. Hi everyone that see this, I was on here a couple of months ago with questions regarding my decision on whether or not to do the bariatric surgery and I finally made my decision about 4 weeks ago to go ahead and continue the process. Because I had already been in a weight management program for the last year, with little to no success, I have already completed my "required" time before I can see a surgeon. I have started the process, had a stress echo, had body comp, seen the excercise physiologist and have apts scheduled for EGD, Nutrution, and Phych eval. I am so excited, yet sooooo nervouse at the same time. I hope to have my surgery the first week in January. That is my plan so I hope I will be able to have it then. Thanks for your support and advise when I was trying to make my decision!

    Vitamin frustration

Okay, so how many vitamin suplements are we talking about normally? I am in the process of making my decision on the surgery and I know people are always talking about the vitamins. Can you tell me how many vitamins a day you have to take?

    Need some encouragment

Thank you ALL so very much for your responses, your truth about the outcome pro's and con's. Everything you all told me is exactly the same things I have thought myself, so hearing it from people who have had the surgery really helps. I want to live my life too instead of existing, I think ALL the time at how I think I would be so much happier if I was thinner so I could go and do fun things with my husband and daughter. Go for walks at the park, go to baseball games and do fun things that involve a little walking. I would LOVE to go camping and tell stories by the fire with my little girl and sleep in a tent in the backyard. So many things I want to do to ensure she has a wonderful childhood, and that I provide myself with the best life I can. But for some reason, I just can't keep the weight off on my own, and I think I need the "tool" of the surgery. Thanks again to all of you. I hope you don't mind if I add you all to my friends. I'm still trying to figure this site out so hopefully you all get my response. God Bless!
  11. Hi, my name is Shannon and I am 37 years old. I have struggled with my weight all my life. I have lost weight many times just to put it right back on. I know we are all here for the same reasons; however, I have this crazy feeling of fear that I can't kick regarding having the sleeve. I have a 3 year old daughter and I worry that something will happen to me and she won't have me. :-( But at the same time, how long can I live weighing 300 pounds at only 5'3". I have been working with a Weight Managment program for probably 8 months now and can't get it together so the sleeve surgery has been brought up lately. I have done a lot of research, and always come back to that "fear" feeling of something happening. I know we never know what could happen, but is it worth the risk? I read so many amazing success stories and I want that for myself, my daughter and my husband. I want to have a fun fulfilling life that isn't based obcessing about wanting to loose weight and how much pain I am always in because of my joint pain. Please, any suggestions, advise would be greatly appreciated. And I would like to start a frienship with some people that have experienced this surgery/ or in the process. Thanks and good luck to everyone!
