Our stories are nearly the same. Same timelines, revision surgery after a slipped lapland, gaining the weight back. I am glad to hear I am not alone as far as another person at the same stage from surgery date. I didn't reach my goal either, but I was losing weight then started emotional eating that spanned over five years of some pretty major life events, not to mention getting out with friends a lot more, food and drinks, etc. So.......I had cash paid my surgeries out of state and didn't have a local office that worked with nutrition, and most importantly follow along. I called a local provider a few weeks ago and went to see them Monday. My plan is to link with people who work with folks like me everyday. We set three goals for the next two weeks...1. Eat Protein first 2. Drink Water ( I had lapsed with this) 3. Journal. When I go back we will keep working on current and new goals, etc. Today is my official day 1 and its hard. I too have been grazing through the day, all the while feeling very guilty about it. I think it is about becoming a bariatric patient again and living that way. I wish you the very best. Keep up your focus and good work! Joan

Hello All! Help me please!!! I was sleeved on 8/6, I am doing well but having issues getting my Protein and Water in. My bigger issue which I know is related to the food is lack of exercise due to lack of energy. I go, go, go all day and evening. From work, to kids, to selling my house I am never sitting still but I have still not made time for planned exercise. Its turning cold here in Iowa and its dark early and my motivation is at a stand still....so is my weight, I have lost about 34 pounds, but its all coming off very slowly. I would like to know what others did to start exercising. What activities, how often and how long. Any other advice is appreciated as well. Thanks!!

My surgery was done in Overland Park, KS. I private paid, it was all inclusive through Weight Loss Surgical Center. If I remember right it was $18,500 or very close to that. I had some bills come to me after the fact but I sent them to WLSC and they paid it. That was for outside blood work during recovery.

Hello! My surgery was on 8/6/13 and I am currently down 27.4 pounds. I am not sure if I am on target but it seems slow going. I lost most of my weight early on and have only lost a little over 4 pounds in the last month. Is this typical? Im being honest here, I have struggled with the Protein and the Water intake, even though I love to drink water. I just cant seem to get it all in. I have been experimenting with just about any kind of foods and seem to be able to eat most things, just not too much of anything at once. I have had some foods I shouldn't, but even though I dont think I have consumed more than 1000 calories any given day. I have had drinks containing alcohol a few times. It doesnt seem to bother me or affect me different than before. My family are big beef eaters and so I have ate ground beef a few times, I havent had issues with that. I havent exercised much due to the fact that I am prepping my house for moving and that is a lot of physical activity. I am tired as can be at the end of the day. So, looking at this, there are many areas I can improve on, but I am just living my life as normal as possible and not constantly thinking about the sleeved stomach or when to eat. I would appreciate any feedback and advice. Thanks All, Joan

My surgery was on 8/6. I have moved into the soft phase of eating foods and increasing the Water intake. I have no problem drinking water, although the quantity is a lot right now as far as how much I can handle at once. I am having a very hard time not talking normal or even big drinks of water. I drank a lot of water before surgery and now I pick up the bottle of water and find myself drinking it as I used to. Does anyone else drink as they used to post op and just looking for any words of advice. Am I risking damage to my stomach or staple line 22 days out of surgery?? Thanks All..... Joan

Hello! My sleeve surgery was on August 6th. I am still in the hospital because very little is passing beyond my stomach. The surgeon believes that this is all due to swelling of my esophagus and new stomach. Has anyone experiences this? I am very nervous and frankly scared. There are no leaks, but for the first three days I was spitting up lots of blood. I was told for the sleeve they use a much bigger tube down the throat and it probably irritated and scraped it all up. Anyone have a similar situation? Please let me know....take care! Joan -

Thanks for letting me know, it sounds like we are having similar experiences. The doc changed me to loratab for pain today. I am drinking a slim fast protein drink they have me right now, small sips and they are staying down! -

I would say I was active but followed all guidelines to a T. He said he removed 65% so not as small as others and that would be about 4 ounces. It's just a terrible feeling when everyone else is moving right along. I fear there could be damage but that is only my fear, the doc says it is what it is, he is not worried and just started me tonight on jello,,Popsicles, broth to see how they pass. I have been able to keep food down but can't eat a whole lot before I feel it in my chest. I wonder if that is how others know they reached capacity or am I super tight?!?! -

I was sleeved 8/6 and I am still in the hospital. Liquids are not passing through as they should. Doc thinks its due to a lot of swelling from the medical equipment used in the throat area. I am very concerned and afraid. I feel terrible. Any advice? -
Isnt it odd we are all on different combinations of liquid diets for different time frames? Why is that? My surgery is on 8/6. I am on day 2 of 5 of full liquids and then go to clear liquids for days 6 and 7. They told me 5-6 protein shakes a day and my stomach is still growling. I had a beefy mushroom soup, strained, and it was yummy! Good luck to you all!
