  1. Me too! I get my pre op diet tomorrow, then meet with the doctor, anesthesiologist and measure bone density on Wednesday.

Did you keep your surgery a secret?

I tell anyone if they ask. I have mentioned I am having surgery in September and if it is someone I feel comfortable with, and if they ask what kind of surgery I'm having I tell them. So far, everyone's reactions have been positive. I have done enough research, and am secure enough in my decision that I don't really care what anyone else thinks. My husband, daughter and close friends - even my boss- have so far been very supportive.
  3. Thanks for the information. I start my per op diet on Sept 9 and I am more anxious about that than the surgery!
  4. I will be at the meeting tonight - hope to see you there. I have black slacks and a red top

    Big mistake

I am still pretty new to the forum - please, what is TSV?
  6. One monthly exactly from today! I am really nervous and excited. I will have to go on a liquid diet for 2 weeks beforehand so I am trying to clear out my freezer. I also love strawberries and blueberries and I don't think I can eat them for a few weeks after surgery because of the little seeds.
  7. No - have you? I am going to try to get to the August meeting..
  8. Dr Kuwada. I feel like I am losing my mind. I can't seem to concentrate and I flit from one thing to another. I am sure it is just because I am nervous about the big change this will be in my life. I went through the same thing when I got married 21 years ago. Lol
  9. I use isopure to add to green smoothies that I make with almond milk, spinach, strawberries, a banana and ice. It tastes ok to me - has lots of vitamins and is low calorie. The recipe came with my blender.

Any success stories for the 50's group?

It is great to hear these stories - both successful and struggling. I am 58 and will be sleeved September 23. I can't wait. I feel like I am in limbo with all my activities separated into before surgery and after.
  11. Thanks for your post - it is very encouraging.
  12. Thanks SLF1027. I will definitely check it out!

Love this idea! I will be copying it!
  14. I am trying out protein drinks, but from reading other posts on here it sounds like people's tastes change after surgery.
  15. Thanks so much for sharing. It is an inspiration to me since I am just waiting (nervously) for my surgery date, wondering if I m doing the right thing.

    bad knees !

I have trouble with my joints as well. I use the rower at my YMCA. I get a really good workout and I am never sore when I finish. No one else uses them so they are always available.
