  1. Great Job! Very glad to hear your full of energy!
  2. I'm three weeks out from getting sleeved and over the last two days I've had quite a bit of stress and very bothersome, not quite severe, tummy / bowel troubles. I'm still able to get in protein shakes and plenty of fluid, so I'm not concerned about that. With such a little stomach now, does stress affect more profoundly now?

    Gaining too much

Talk to a doctor who's had the sleeve.... It sounds like this one didn't listen to you at all.
  5. I'm only two weeks out. We've gone out once and I ate off my husbands plate. I ordered a side of veggies, but only ate one little piece of broccoli and one little piece of zuchinni. It was an odd experience - especially because we haven't been out to a restaurant in week in about 6 weeks. It will absolutely help the out to dinner food budget! lol!!!
  6. All I did was sleep. I even told my husband to leave because I couldn't stay awake to talk to him. The first night for me was rough. Threw up and some dry heaves. Day 2 I felt a little better later in the day, and was up walking but they still kept me the 2nd night. By the 3rd day, I was ready to go! Up, showered, dressed, walking the halls, etc... Each child is different. You're the best judge if they should come up.

    Body image/clothing issue

A friend at work told me on Thursday it was time to donate the outfit I was wearing. Friday, I tried on a pair of jeans I haven't gotten into in 4 months. They fit beautifully. I have clothes in my closet in a wide range of sizes - from 22 pants to 12 pants. Tomorrow, I need to try on some smaller size pants and see how they fit. I don't know how I'm going to see myself once the weight comes off. I find myself looking at clothing in catalogs and thinking "I'll never be able to get into it" When I finally get to go shopping, I'm going to bring a friend with me who promises to be completely honest no matter what. I'm really interested to see how other's deal with this also....

    Questions for post ops...

I had surgery two weeks ago. Out of everything, the worst thing for me was I threw up once and had some dry heaves the first night. The next morning they gave me some wonderful medicine and it went away. I needed help getting up for a few hours in the hospital, but after that, I was able to do things on my own. They did keep me for two nights, instead of 1 because of the first night. I didn't drive for a week, but that was my choice. I have a very low car and didn't want to have to climb out of it. I never needed pain medication so I didn't have to worry about driving while on it. I went back to work part time 5 days after surgery and the following Monday went back full time. It was exhausting in the beginning of the week but get easier as the week went on. I tried a few protein drinks and found I like Unjury the best. I particularly like the Chocolate Splendor and I put PB2 in it, with my NUT's approval. It's wonderful! I found while on the liquid diet portion and taking the protein drinks, it's hard to get it all in. The water hasn't been a problem. Just sip, sip, sip away! I haven't had sex yet. Not for any medical or physical reasons, just haven't. My husband is being more than patient! Now that I've moved on from pureed food to soft food, I seem to be alternating constipation and diareaha. I haven't been able to get in as much yogurt as I'd like, so i'm not balanced out yet. I'm sure once I get back on it, I'll even out. Everyone's journey is different, but I was exactly like you! I wanted to be prepared and ready for when I got home. I found I over prepared, but I guess that's ok! Emotionally, I was so ready for it to happen already. Even now, a couple of weeks out, I find I'm more excited than ever. The weight is melting away and I feel euphoric! Best of luck to you!!!!!

  13. Had my sleeve surgery one week ago and have found it all easy except the first night with nausea. Never used pain meds and the nurses didn't believe me with I said I had no pain. They still kept me two nights instead of one. Completely off Diabeties medicines which completely blows my mind. The past three weeks of liquids has been ok, I guess. I'm getting ready to start the pureed food portion and really looking forward to it. I want to have the taste of some real food in my mouth and not just broth or Protein shakes. I went back to work on this past Wednesday (half days) and my husband had taken the week off so he drove me back and forth. I found I made it through the few hours, then came home and was exhausted. My office is very supportive and there were no issues there. Next week I'm going to try driving myself and do full days. 25 lbs down (17 pre-op, 8 in one week). I've decided to only weigh myself on Fridays. Some in my office have said they can see it already. Not sure I believe it, but nice of them to say none the less. Not going to see my family until Thanksgiving. Really hoping to be at least 60+ more lbs down by then. I think that is more than attainable. I hope others who are thinking about this investigate all your options, understand the risks and all possible side effects. I had and was prepared for the worst. My story so far has been smooth, but I won't forget all the things that can still happen. I already wish I had done this years ago.
  14. Congrats! Looks like you're doing a great job!!! I'm just shy of week to surgery and I'm looking for results like yours... Any advise?

    Pre-op question

I've been ordering from Unjury.com. I like their flavors - especially the chicken soup flavor. Their unflavored is just that and their chocolate splendor is quite yummy.

    Looking Forward

It's been 5 days since I've started the liquid diet and it's going better than I expected. I've found I'm still getting hungry and that's annoying. Sugar Free Peppermints and Hot Tea seem to help. I'm getting a bit nervous and wondering if I'm doing the right thing. I'm worried about going for my pre-op meet with the Surgeon and him saying No, we're not going to do the surgery for any one reason or another. I really just want to get it done with already and get on with the next stage of it all. I have an incredible support system and I know I can rely on each and every one of these wonderful people. I don't want to speak my fears to anyone except my husband. And even then, I don't get too involved with it. And then I think about the goals I have set for myself. Both on the scale and not on the scale. I think about how much fun it will be to have the ability to shop at any store and buy cute clothes. I think about being healthy and getting off a lot of my medications. I think about living to see my grandchildren being born and being able to get on the floor and play with them. Then the fear goes away and I know I'm doing the right thing. The wait and the prep work will be well worth it and I'm guessing forgotten once it's all said and done. I'm looking forward to living the rest of my life and not just being being alive.
  17. I am also using Dr. Kim. My patient advocate was on top of it all since the very first meeting at the seminar. I did, however, have most of my clearances before I even walked in for that first appointment. My Advocate received the approval letter today @ 11:30 and was on the phone with me by 11:45. Really excited! All the doctors I had to go to before getting the authorization all said the same thing to me after I told them it was Dr. Kim doing the surgery - "He's the absolute best!".
  18. Received my surgery date today - September 20th with Dr. Keith Kim at Celebration Hospital in the Orlando, Florida area. Emotions are running the full gammut at the moment. I start my liquid diet on September 6th and I'm actually looking forward to it. Kind of crazy, huh?
