I also suffer from severe Migraines. The biggest reason I'm having this done is to get the weight off to hopefully get rid of them. I was diagnosed w/ pseudo tumor cerebri and weight loss is supposed to reverse it. I was told NSAID's would be ok post surgery, I use them as well as many different prescriptions. Hoping to be Migraine free soon, best of luck to you too!

I was set for Sept. 9 but just got moved to Oct. 14 due to financing issues. I'm ready!!! Not even really nervous now, just want this time to fly by!

Melissa1234 - I am on Ability and Pristiq but my Pristiq is not crushable so I have to go on something else for a couple of weeks which scares the crap out of me. Thanks to all of you for keeping me grounded and realizing that this really is the best decision I have ever made - just can't wait for the actual surgery!I take Pristiq also & really do not want to switch... Do we have to?!? Why can't we swallow pills? It's not that big!

I'm really bummed I was scheduled for Sept. 9 but I'm self pay and had a last minute financing issue so had to move to Oct. 14. Good luck Sept. Sleevers, I look forward to hearing about your progress and seeing your skinny pics!

I was sleeved on 7/29 with Eschette. Great guy stayed two nights in hospital and back to work on 8/6. Still working on getting fluids and Protein in' date=' but easier everyday. Good luck[/quote']
Thanks! You were back to work pretty quick huh? My doc said 2 weeks off min. ?!?

My surgery is scheduled Sept. 4th' date=' in Houston, Texas, only 6 weeks from my first app't with the surgeon, Dexter Turnquest. Because I am self pay, I have not been required to jump through all the hoops that ins. companies require. I thought I had done plenty of research, but yesterday ran into a pretty negative article about potential side effects that made them sound common instead of unusual. Now I am getting a bit anxious for the first time. :-([/quote']Hello, I'm self pay as well because its not covered by my insurance. Would you mind sharing some of what the article said? Thanks!

Your comments on compensation are so true. I have a BS in Environmental Science and I work in Public Health (also not known for being a particularly high-paying field). Of my closest friends' date=' one has an MSW and has been working in the field 2 years longer than I have and I make more than 10/hr more than she does, and another has been a therapist for a public agency for about 3-5 years longer than I've been in the field and I make about 5/hr more than she does. I don't have anything special in my background that would explain the pay discrepancy and I view the work as being roughly equivalent in level of responsibility and technical expertise. Both with MSWs. At least with the Feds, compensation is comfortable, benefits are good, and it's generally very stable employment (not withstanding the last few years).[/quote']
This may be a silly question, but how does one go about applying for a federal job? ☺

I'm pre-op, my surgery date is 9/9. I work for a non-profit agency as a case manager with kids who are involved with the juvenile justice system and also have mental illnesses. I'm also a single mom to a 9 yo daughter and was in school working on my Master's in psych, but I'm taking a break from school for surgery, etc.

Lots of stuff but the first few that come to mind are having more energy to play with my daughter, the ability to cross my legs, buying clothes off the racks and not from plus size stores, being in photos... EEEEK!!! I can't wait!

Does anyone know or have a list of all the Vitamins we'll need post op? Or is this something our doctor gives us because it may be different for everybody?

Yea I passed psych. Ktodd how did you do??I think it went great! Mine was not what I expected, more of a life history & not a lot about food or the surgery at all... Hopefully it's accepted by the surgeon & I'm not delayed!

I'm in the waiting room at my psych eval appt. I'm excited, it means I'm one step closer to surgery!

I do have severe Migraines and 3 doctors have told me losing weight will help them get better but, other than that, I have no obesity related illnesses either. Normal blood pressure, no diabetes, nothing... No family history, either. My reason for wanting the surgery is mostly cosmetic, but also as a preventive measure. I've thought long & hard about the risks and weighed my options, but I know I will never be truly happy if I don't get my weight under control. I'm 32 and I have too much life left to live to be miserable!

Awesome! That is very encouraging! I take a TON of meds for mine and I really want to be able to be off of them! Thanks for sharing!
