Help need a good surgeron at good price
socialator replied to tracywright37's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my lapband put in at St Mary & Elizabeth Hospital in Louisville/ My surgeon was Dr. Olsofka. He charges $4000 for his services and if you are paying out of pocket it gives you lots of extras. post op exam. adjustments the first year and any surgical revision if problems. Remember the operating room and hospital charges are separate. My insurance with Anthem BC/BS paid all of mine. My lapband was placed June 27, 2007. to date I have lost 41 lbs. I hope you have it done. Its the best thing I could have done -
Hi Beccamay Are you the one whosent me the reply asking if my insurance was throught the state? No its not. I am covered under my husband's insurance who is a teacher with the federal government on base. He chose FEP BC/BS Preferred Basic.

Emotional hunger vs physical hunger - how do you deal with this??
socialator replied to Bandwagon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not an emotional eater. I am a "big" eater. I had the lapband on June 27 2007. I started the pre-op diet on June 17. I have lost 17 lbs in 22 days and havea not even had my band filled for the first time yet . Take it from me the band will not let you eat a lot at one time or eat it fast. It will not let you eat certain foods with out choking you or making some people throw up. The band makes you full so full you dont want anything else. Some people cheat and eat between meals but you still cant eat much. I believe you would have good results with the band -

socialator replied to mommiranda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had lapband on June 27 and started my pre-op diet on June 17. I have lost 17 lbs in 22 days. My pre-op and post op diets allows coffee with caffeine. I drink a cup 30 mins before breakfast or I drink it an hour after breakfast. sometijmes I have a cup at night. -
pre op diet was high protein shakes, broths sugar fee jello, sugar free pudding, sugar free yogurt. diet soda, koolade etc skim milk. It actually made me full but became monotonous after 10 days. I lost 10 lbs. The anesthesia went fine. the whole surgery went fine. I was sore for a couple of days .I was driving within 24 hours.I walked at the mall but became easily tired and had to go home right away. Day five I was no longer sore. I did discover Im allergic to the steri strips that they close the incision with. I broke out and had to remove them. It is day 6 and I am now eating pureed food. I "never" got nauseous before or after surgery. My surgery so far has been textbook. I alswo have lost another pound

I am 49 years old. I am married with a 13 year old daughter I am so excited that lapband is available to me. I dont know If I could handle bypass surgery. I weigh 285. I use to be thin but after my 3rd child I developed a thyroid problem which started my weight problem. I have gained, lost and regained large amts of weight. I snore , cant sleep or lay on back without breathing problems , Im breathless, my legs swell at slightest activity. My bloodpressure is going up. I am lucky tht my BMI is around 46 so I was eligible for the surgery automatically without the need for health issues but as you can see I have few of my own. I am currently on the preop diet whcih I am sticking to to the letter. It makes you full but it is boring
