Soo Just wondering how everyone is doing?? Started out at 350 surgery weight was 333 current weight is around 287 (haven't been on a scale in a week) but total weight lost is over 60... not including my pre op diet though I think I'm a slow loser... but how are yall doing with everything? My stomach acid still gives me problems but it seems to be getting a little better than it was last month for sure.

Only FOUR Days! What have I forgotten?
bigntexas replied to TxCalico's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had surgery with Dr Garcia Aug 27th... At the hospital there was definitely a lot of sleeping, and I only stayed one night at the hotel but just FYI text messages with at&t are .50 a text (adds up quickly) so for sure use the wifi at the hotel. And the popsicles they brought me were GROSS! I've read since then that the green popsicles are better... the market or whatever they call it was pretty neato... you have to take those little red taxis for quite a ways to get there but if you're feeling up to it then I suggest going, just to get moving and see some stuff. -

How do you know when you overeat?
bigntexas replied to MissErika's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm new to this whole thing also (six weeks out) but I'm the same as you... I can eat steak without dying when I've heard other people say it's too heavy and all that mess. But my doctor told me it would be VERY hard to stretch out your stomach because the part they left in when they did your sleeve is very hard to stretch.. the other part they took out was the part that made you hungry (i forget the name of that stuff it starts with a g) and was also the part that stretches. I think you're doing the right thing by staying comfortable. and I don't think that if you do stuff yourself once or twice its going to stretch out the sleeve. But I'm new so I don't know everything or want to pretend like I do. -

Sorry Tmi! Just Woke Up Choking On And Throwing Up Stomach Bile(I Think)! Advice?
bigntexas replied to AllForMy4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ugh... This happened me to last night I know it's an old thread but I'm glad I found it... freaking GROSS!! and kinda scary when you're just sleeping and next thing you know you're choking... and the taste is just nasty. I've been taking Omeprazole that I bought over the counter once in the morning but im assuming I need to take one at night also.. I NEVER want that to happen again! -
Worried about getting stuck at the border
bigntexas replied to Italiancurves's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I was in Tijuana almost a month ago... they did look at our passports on the way back in but then just let us drive through.. (we got lucky and there was no line) If I was you I would for sure get my passports. I know they have a deal where you can get it in a few days... it's more money but worth not having a huge hassle. -

Tijuana, and the birth of Frankentummy

wow I'm so sorry your trip was so miserable! Yes, the hospital rooms were very dated but other than that I had no problems. My step mother was my travel buddy and she speaks Spanish so it was easier to communicate to nurses and staff. While I was sleeping or walking she was out roaming Tijuana and to be honest it flew by for me pretty quick... we stayed in san diego the night before surgery and were only at the Marriott one night... when we arrived there we did have to wait while others took smoking rooms we waited an hour (which wasn't fun) but then we got our room. Once again I went to sleep she went exploring. We were told to only take the red taxis because they went to "centro" (the market). After my step mother got back she dragged me out to go with her to see Tijuana... it's definitely different than an average city in the US but it's just like Progresso, Cancun, or Cozumel if you get out of the tourist areas... I haven't had any problems and actually went back to work Tuesday (surgery was Thursday) I hope all your problems are behind you! I'm sure once you're home you'll feel 100 times better!! -
Just got sleeved with Dr Garcia last Thursday! Bring small bills for tips, bring an ipad or something for the hospital stay incase you get bored... the cable is mostly Spanish.. don't be nervous! I was terrified and they did a great job! the Staff that will be taking care of you is mostly young but they know what theyre doing. A couple female doctors that youll speak with before surgery have also had gastric bypass and sleeve so ask them questions if you have any.. they're very nice. after yours surgery youre gonna wake up with sticky crap all over you! Make them help you get it off! lol REST and WALK!!! GOOD LUCK!

My father just had surgery last week. He went into remission in 2010. He's doing great and I've never heard about the five year mark either... Prayers your way. -
