24 pounds in 10 days? whaaat?

I know what you mean Bruce. I went on Medifast 10 years ago and lost 57 lbs in 9 weeks. After the first week it was like I was on a high all the time. I exercised 1-1/2 hours a day and the weight just fell off. Six months after I was off the liquid diet the weight started coming back on and it hasn't stopped yet. So August 1 is my band date. Good luck to you. Nancy
  2. Hi Carrie, my date is August 1 with Dr. Spivak. I am counting the days. I wanted to go to Mexico with Dr. Ortiz but my hubby wanted me to get a Dr. in Houston where we live in case I have problems and for follow-up and fills. He has a very good repretation. He is also the first Dr. to do this surgery in the U.S. Good luck to you. Keep up informed on how you are doing.
  3. Thank goodness I don't have to do a pre op diet. I am so up and down about doing this surgery in the first place I don't think I could handle a diet. Anyway...if I could diet successfully I wouldn't need the band. I think I have to be on full liquids the day before the surgery though. I think I can manage one day.

  5. How do I join? I don't know how to get to the August banders sight? HELP.
  6. I can really relate to this one. I have gained almost 10 lbs since June 20th when I scheduled my surgery for August 1. I think I am trying to kill myself. Went to Pappadeaux's for lunch and just had a big bowl of ice cream with chocolate sauce. UGH.

Wow, if you can loose that much weight that fast with Optifast why are you banding?

    Please help me decide!!

I am scheluled for surgery with Dr. Spivak August 1, 2007. Do you like him? Is he as nice after the surgery as he seems before he has your money? Is his office staff really as nice and helpful after the surgery as they are before. I ask these things because I know I am going to need a lot of support. I went to the seminar last night and everyone was so nice and so helpful I made my decision on the spot. Now I have so many more questions. How did you feel after the surgery? Are you hungry all the time? How hard has it been for you to stick to the rules? Looking forward to hearing from you. M.

    First Fill

Hello all, I am new to this sight but am excited to finally find a group that I can talk to about my surgery. I attended a seminar last evening after doing research for about 6 months. I was greatly encouraged and have decided to do the surgery. My best friend came with me and she is doing it also. I am scheduled for August 1 and hers is August 6th. I asked lots of questions and new ones come up every second. I guess my main concern is how hard is it to suddenly stop eating? Since my surgeon dosn't fill the band for 4 weeks after the surgery am I going to be hungry and weak all the time? How many times do you throw-up? I really hate to do that. I don't want to spend all my time hanging over the pot. I know this won't be easy and I am prepared for that I just want to do what will cause me the least pain and I don't want to feel hungry all the time. If I wanted to do that I could just go on another diet. Help!!! Tell me how you felt the first weeks after surgery. Thanks so much.:help:
