  1. Hi Tamiz1067, if you are post op, stage one, you will need Protein... Have you had any Isopure or clear Protein powder like nectar? Broth has little or no protein & that's probably why you're getting headaches! Hope you feel better.
  2. I remember one time a doctor asked me to let him know when I was out, lol. I remember the other day, as I started to wake up, my husband told me that everything was fine and the surgery went great... big smile then zzzzzz

    October Sleevers - Who else

They gave me liquid Percocet at the hospital, after surgery, which definitely did the trick. Dilaudid is about the strongest painkiller out there, even more so than Morphine. Honestly, for me, my pain level was never over a 4, mostly a 2 or 3, and I would describe it more as discomfort more from the gas than the incisions... Hope you find it easier than expected as well.

    Moving to CT

Yes, Drs. Craig and Neil Floch, and also Dr. Friedman are Fairfield County Bariatrics- They are moving to Shelton on October 24th. Just had my surgery with Craig Floch on Tuesday, at and I could not recommend them more highly... Awesome, caring, competent doctors!
  8. I'm home... Hope everyone is feeling better today!
  9. Had mine out this morning and it felt like a snake was being pulled out of my body... Yes uncomfortable and strange feeling! So glad to be home.
  10. Update... Of course that particular surgeon came in to see his patient yesterday & saw me first. He asked me, "do I know you?" When I told him my name he nearly turned grey and said that he thinks of me from time to time. He then goes to the other side of the curtain to see his other patient and the nurse comes in to examine my incisions and notes the large scar that I have... (That was caused by the guy behind the curtain.) Now I have a new room mate who just had surgery with the same doctor, SO I guess I get to see him one more time before leaving today.... Awkward!
  11. Glad you're also doing better now... What are they giving you for pain? I've had liquid Percocet and it helped but not sure what they'll be sending me home with today...
  12. Sweetness- I hope you're feeling better! They were able to give me gas x here in the hospital... It helped a bit, as did the walking and the heating pad. Good luck to you!

    Would you do it again?

I'm 44 and noticed that my hair started shedding a bit two years ago... so I started taking Biotin and multivitamins. Just had my surgery yesterday and my room mate who's female & a bit older than me and female- she was part of a study & swears by Rogaine (yes for men) which is over the counter and available at Target. Smaller light brown bottle with an eyedropper. Will have to ask my doctor about this! I've also heard that fish oil helps. As far as the would I do it again part... Surgery itself was pretty easy and not nearly as painful as my past surgeries... Excited for what the future brings!!!!

    any CT sleevers?

I am doing really well, no nausea, just a little sore. Much easier than I thought! Slept, but you know how you are always woken up at night in hospitals, my room mate just had WLS but gastric bypass and she had it a day earlier but has much more pain than me. All in all great so far. Had my surgery with Dr. Craig Floch... Very happy!
  16. Just had my surgery today and the whole process for me, from the seminar on took about two months, but it really depends on what insurance you have. I have UHC choice plus with a 3,000 out of pocket max, and there were lots of pre-op requirements and testing which cost a bunch even before the surgery costs. Good luck with everything!

    any CT sleevers?

Yes, just had mine @ St Vincent's in Bridgeport this morning
  18. Yes, in my case it was night and day because the worst procedure I had involved a 12-15 inch incision and was done quickly because of an emergency situation and internal injury. My c sections were not so bad but still worse than this. I actually spoke to my dr this morning prior to surgery and he said that he's only had to perform 3 open procedures for WLS so usually they can work around the scar tissue.
  19. I have had 3 open abdominal procedures and my surgeon told me that I might have another. I was very happy today when I woke up today after my surgery that was laparoscopic! My docs ordered a ct scan in advance and my dr's approach was different as a result. Surgery went great and the nurse said there were high fives from the OR Team! Hoping things go smoothly for you as well.
  20. I have a drain that will be removed before I leave the hospital on Thursday.

    October Sleevers - Who else

Just had my surgery- everything went really well!!!
  22. Surgery went great and I'm a little sore but feeling pretty good- went for a walk with my husband... Feeling very grateful for no complications this time, no need for an open procedure. What's weird is that my roommate just had surgery with the doctor that screwed up my surgery in 2007! Definitely will not mention that... Hoping surgery went well for all of you today!
  23. BTW, my docs ordered a CT scan to look for the strictures and scar tissue...
  24. I've had 2 c-sections plus an open emergency abdominal procedure, so my bariatric and vascular surgeons consulted prior to my surgery (which is happening in about 3 hours!) they were looking for scar tissue and/or strictures. We are hoping that the scar tissue won't be an issue and that the surgery will be able to be done laparoscopically, but if it can't be done, I'll have another open procedure. Hoping for the best, either way. Good luck to you!
