Hello Kaye! Had a great weekend and only blew it one day..yesterday. I wasn't even hungry then my daughter cooked a batch of brownies and the smell had me salavating. I ended up pigging out on them with some icecream to wash them down. But, my theory is that it was the only time I blew it all week. I feel slimmer this week. I can really notice a difference in how I look and I think I will reach goal this month..(to get into the 170's). I think that tricking the metabolism by blowing it once a week or so..may kick the metabolism back into gear..at least that my ferverent prayer! Thanks for all the good info. I have had a prescripton for something like Ali before. I don't think I need it now because I eat very little fat. However it would have helped yesterday! I am getting so excited about how I am feeling physically. I feel so much better about how I look too. I feel ten years younger! I know you must feel great too. Ms. Kitten - Welcome... How much wght have you lost total? Have you tried the 5 day pouch test to get you back on track? I'll look up the link and attach it. It really helped me and some others get back on track. Weazer

KC, How sweet of you to reply. I think this is a great thread. I was hoping it keeps going! Well, it sounds like you are doing really good! Let's work at keeping each other motivated. Seems like we are similar in how we are handling the band..and our age is the same..cool! you said you started taking Ali when you eat something fattening. What is that? No I don't think I've heard of the Barium thing. See that's why I love these threads..I learn so much! I switched insurance after I had the band and my new ins does'nt cover the fills. So next year after I change back..maybe I'll have the barium thingy. I am at 3.5 cc's in a 4cc band. Pretty tight, but I can mostly eat anything I want even Pizza or bread if I take tiny bites. It takes me an hour to eat 2 pc's of pizza..sometimes I do PB the first couple of bites then my band seems to just relax and open up..weird. Have a wonderful holiday weekend..I will be working hmmpppfffft !!! Weazer

Hello all, I had my band installed May 2007. I am one year out. I started out at 232lbs and am now at 180. Thats a 52 pd wght loss. I would like to loose 30 more. Anything at 150 or below. I am 5'6. I have been at this wght for 3 months..can't seem to get off this plateau. The funny thing is that this is the weight that i could always diet down to before I had the band. Then I would get discouraged and blow it and gain all of the weight back. At least now I won't gain the weight back! I love this band but I am not where I thought I would be in a year. But, I finally accepted the reality that this is not magic..it does take a tremendouse amount of dedication to take the wght off. I am getting there and no that I will succeed! I have gone from a size 18 to a 14 in one year. I am off of the Blood Pressure medicine. I feel so much better. I am just a very slow looser. I say that I stick to around 1200-1500 cals a day. What has slowed me down is that I don't exercise. So it's my own fault. I do fall off the wagon from time to time and eat slider foods that I shouldn't. I know what I do wrong. I will get it right one day at a time. Blessings, Weazer

Manatee, Hmmm, that's one of those things that you really have to think about. In my personal case I would have to pray about it. Sometimes God likes getting me out of my comfort zone. I would pray really hard and if I felt that this was something He wanted me to do, I would just trust Him and do it. Ya never know what changes this could bring about in your life and the lives of those that you are speaking to. Blessings, Weazer P.S. Even with all your troubles with the band, you are an inspiration. You have a great attitude and you don't give up. Plus I think it's fair for people with the band to know all the problems that can come up.

Melissa - Congrads and Happy Bandaversary!!!!! Great Job! What a year you had! Blessings, Weazer

As the famous Scooby Doo would say....."Rut Roe"....I have had a baaaad day! This is Hospital week and Administration keeps bringing by goodies...I fell off the darn wagon today. Not just a little either! Will someone lend me a hand and pull me back up. I hope I can get back on track tomorrow!!! Why do people have to be so nice and bring food all the time...gift cards would be much better!! Blessings, Weazer

Laura, I am so sorry. I so relate. I know how crushed you must be. I have two sisters and a Mother. Sadly my Mother cannot keep a secret. I shared something very private with her just a couple of weeks ago. Really opened up my heart to her...she must have jumped on the phone the minute I left to share it with my other sisters. This happens all the time. It is a crushing feeling. I have finally got it through my thick head that I can't trust her. Makes me so sad. I'm very sorry that you have had to go through this. My youngest sister is the only one who knows about my surgery. She is so supportive. I would never tell my Mother or other sister because it would be told to everyone and brought up at every meal. I know your hurt and mad. Go ahead and let yourself experience those emotions..they are real. I never said a word to my Mother about finding out she shared my secret..I just chalked it up to her needing to feel important. She obviously has issues that she needs to be convicted of. Now I will know to never share something private again. lesson learned. Weazer.

I loved the reference to "the sliders" Laurie, Yes, that was exactly my problem too. Having it called slider food really put it into perspective for me. And the Ice Cream...I was starting to eat it most ever day! That is a absolute no no! We are really going to have to work hard for every pound now. This is where we are going to have to eat right. It won't always be easy, but I know that with each other we can do it. I made sure and eat a broiled chicken breast for lunch. It is hard to eat at first..but if I put my fork down between bites and give it time to go down. It usually does. Blessings, Weazer

Delo - hello. You look great! You have done a fantastic job. You are an inspiration to us all. One of these days I will figure out how to attach my pictures to these posts...I am really proud of the work I am doing too! Blessings, Weazer

Surgical Weight Loss 5 Day Pouch Test Laurie - Click on the above link and read about it. It really helped alot of us get kick started back into the right direction. It is called a pouch test..but we have been using it to get ourselves back on track. Also, thanks for the inspiring tale of your friends wght loss journey. It was so encouraging! Sue - I will be rooting for you on your 5 day pouch test too! It wasn't bac at all. Yes, I believe that you add onto the day before diet as you go along. I think the point is to get us back onto more protein...(band rules). It really helped kick me back into gear. I made pink lentils and turkey burgers this weekend and didn't blow it once! I'm on track and loving it. Thinking I will make my in the 170's goal this month! Blessings all! Weazer

Afternoon all! Thanks for the bandaversary greetings. Just wanted to check in before off for weekend. A friend took me out today for lunch and we split the entree. It wasn't what I would normally eat but I let her pick. We had pulled pork soft taco's. I only ate one. But, I didn't think I would be able to eat a tortilla at all. I took tiny bites and chewed chewed chewed. Gosh, I think I can eat anything now. But, I eat so slow. I think if I had to say what has changed the most about me physically since the band and it would be that. It takes me forever to eat my food. I really like that. It is so nice to not gobble my food anymore! Deb4339 - Congrads on your bandaversary! 72 pds! woot woot! Laura - Can't wait to hear about meeting the ex. Fill us in come Monday! Melissa - Thanks for the ispiring talk. It is good to know that we will continue to lose the weight for a couple more years! (It may take that for me!) Leg - glad your getting that restriction now!!! Good for you. Y'all have a great weekend.
-
Oh Leg - I am so happy and excited for you..I am still not brave enough to try on bathing suits! Wow, a size 12..amazing! You must be pleased as can be! Raysbabe, you are adorable. Good for you. 52 pds..oh, I just remembered , this is my bandversery! I am still down 50 lbs. I had been hoping for more..but there is not a day goes by that someone doesn't ask me how much weight I've lost..or make a comment about how skinny I am. So, I am glad for that. HAPPY BANDAVERSARY TO ME! Blessings to all, Weazer

That's a good sign I would think. My daughter had the lap band a couple of years ago and she went from perfect to her side hurt so bad in just minutes..they rushed her to the ER and she had to have her gallbladder removed. I sure didn't mean to scare you. I just talked to one of our nurses and asked her if you not having pain for the last day ment there wasn't a problem with your gallbladder..she said, no, if the pain comes back go to the doctor. She said you may want to bland out your food today. If there is a problem developing..it could have been agrivated by the food you ate. Now don't get too scared. My tummy was really hurting yesterday..like never before..right up around the port. I was thinking that I had hurled to hard..(something tiny got stuck) and that I had a big problem with my port..but, today I feel great. God bless and try not to worry. Weazer
-
Mischievous1 - About that pain in you side. The gallbladder is on your right side and if the pain persists I would see a doctor proto..the pain can build up or just go from no pain to bad pain quickly. It is usually diet related so be careful about that! Have fun in Vegas!!! Ragdoll - Yes, the sweets are one of my downfalls too. Along with chips and dip. I am comitted to lean proteins this week and minimum slider foods..maybe as a side vege or something. Two more days till my 1 yr weigh in. I am excited. You have made amazing progress. The end will prolly be the hardest to loose. But, I know that you will do it! Me too... Blessings, Weazer
-
Way to go Ragdoll Way to go! Can you here me singing it out loud! You have done amazingly. Whats you secret. Let me in on it...I bet your exercising..that is the one thing I am not doing. I need to start doing it! I know exactly what you mean about not careing before the band about getting certain things fixed. It wouldn't have helped our self esteme very much. Now we are looking good and a few nips and tucks would just make it even better. I think taking care of your teeth is a great way to keep you looking young. keep coming back. You really encouraged me! Happy Bandaversary! Blessings,Weazer

Laura - 66pds! That is wonderful, fantastic..I am so happy for you. I consider that a sucessful year! I am going to weigh in on my bandversary on the 7th! I think we all did well. Metalband - I just had to do a three day liquid thingy. I really was out of control and it helped me get back on track. I started on the day three portion of the 5 day pouch test yesterday and had no problems sticking to it. I posted the link in a earlier post. It wasn't bad for me at all. In fact, I enjoyed it because it is so much better than feeling out of controll to me. I felt in control for the first time in a while. These last two months have been the hardest for me since banding. I was eating the wrong kinds of food for a while. I am comitted to getting into the one seventies for the month of May and making the most of the next six months for weight loss. We can do this together. Blessings my friend! Weazer
-
Laura, Exciting..tomorrow is you bandaversary! Please share the total weight loss with us. Mine is going to be on May 7th! I am going to make this next six months count! I know you will look great and the x-wife will look at you and be slightly jelouse...I don't like to wish anybody to feel bad..but, hey, I know exactly what you are talking about! You have to look fantastic so she can eat her heart out!!!!!! Oh dear, that's not a good attitude is it!!!! Keep up with the liquids..you won't find it hard at all. It is refreshing! I started on the 3rd day of the plan today which had me add some soft protein. I had a half cup of cottage cheese and a handful of soy beans..with a small cup of tomatoe soup. Dinner will be a tad more soup and some sugar free popcycles. We can do this! Weazer
-
Melissa! Glad you liked it! How are you doing on the liquids.. Laura - It has kicked me off the sweets mode...drum roll, everybody. I did my weigh in and gained a pound! Three days of liquids and I gain a pd!!!! I am sure that it is water weight and will drop off quickly if I really stick with it! I though my stomach fell a bit mushroomy! Well, I am not discouraged..I will make the 170's this month. I will feel so good when I get there!! Blessings all, Weazer..

Melissa, Hmmm, what could we name him..or is it a her? How bout Shar Pei..or just Shar for short! Blessings, Weazer

Shell, Sorry that you have been down. Please come back here more often! Well, 40lbs in a year is nothing to sneeze at. I have only lost fifty. I think allot of us have lost about the same. You know this band won't do the work by itself. We have to take the bull by the horns and work with it. Some of us are doing the liquids to get us back on the right track. It is really helping me. This is my third day. I am going to keep doing it till at least Saturday. I think it will be harder on the weekend. I may do this for a few weeks except on weekends..then on weekends stick to to high protein and low carb diet that I should have been doing all along. I am determined now to work with the band..not against it! We can do this! Weazer

Hey Leg and Sue, I think it will be great for us even if our pouches arn't streched out. Like Sue said, the cleans and weaning ourselves off carbs will be a good thing. I really enjoyed the site. I had no problem with the liquid diet yesterday. I did have to go out with my new son n law for his birthday and they had no clear soup, so I had shrimp. I figured the protein would be best. But, I could have easily had chicken broth and been totally satisfied. Today, stricktly the liquids. I am really enjoying this 5 day pouch test. I think it is kicking me back to where I need to be. Blessings all, Weazer

Oh my, sorry to be so chatty, but i just took a couple of minutes to search around on the 5 day pouch test site (the first link I sent you) If you click on all the tabs, it gives you really wonderful information. Be sure and check it out thouroughly (sp)! I can't wait to get some time to really read it! Weazer

Here is the blog on this site about streched pouches that was helpful Weazer Click the below link http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f78/scared-i-have-stretched-pouch-18676/?highlight=streched+pouch

Laura, That is really cool that you doctor has gone through this! How long has he been banded? Can you believe it is so close to our bandaversary's! Mine will be May 7th. I mananged to stick to liquids at lunch. I had chicken broth and sugar free jello. I was doing fine until they just delivered a huge amount of BBQ and all the fixings for the entire Emergency room staff. I am staying out of that room. I think I will make myself another shake just to fill me up. I learned something when I was researching stretched out pouches. It said to stay away from "slider food" I.E food that slides down easy, because it will not set in the pouch and give you the feeling of fullness. It just slips right through to the lower stomach. Well, that is entirly how I have been living since I got the band. I have to stop that. When I am off the 5 day shrink the pouch back diet. I am going to stop doing that as a rule. It will be hard, but I have to stop. I will look for that article and try and copy and paste it. It was very interesting. Blessings, Weazer
