Can anyone verify if Medicare covers tt?
-
I'm super embarrassed too. I have wanted to ask for a while but been too embarrassed so thanks for bringing up the topic. Since I take biotin for hair loss, I think the hair grows more in places I have never noticed before. My daughter does Brazilian and described sticking her butt in the air and being scrouched with knees tucked to have her backside waxed. The idea of that position would embarrass me so much I would need a couple xanax before....

Do you miss anything about being fat?
Nevermind replied to aSleeveStory's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't miss being fat but don't like the excess skin... Also I do have to actually watch what I eat and it would be easy, in my opinion, to put the weight back on. For instance, drinking Starbucks. I sometimes miss (and I mean rarely) being able to eat anything and everything because I wasn't concerned with weight. I don't know if this is coming across the way I mean for it to, but I sometimes wish I could eat more because it tastes good but I physically cannot. But I wouldn't go back for anything! -
Finishing weight for this challenge: 136.5. Gained 3 # last week but still under my goal, so it's good. Wow, eating all those cookies cost me 3#... So not worth it. Thanks for doing this. I look forward to 2015. I speak new life into myself in the name of Jesus. Happy New Year, everyone.

133.5, same as last week.

sipping water makes me nauseaous.
Nevermind replied to thesweetone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For first 4 or 5 months plain water of any temp made me very nauseous. I could only drink flavored water, particularly strawberry watermelon G2. That was getting really expensive though and now at 7+ months out I can drink regular water again. I recommend experimenting with zero calorie, non-carbonated drinks to see what works for you. -
137 today. Shocking since Thanksgiving, prednisone, and this week I've logged less and worked out less. I am pretty sure I was working out too hard although it's hard to wrap my head around that. I don't want to readjust my goal weight just yet to allow for wiggle room.

Heading back to ER again, prayers please
Nevermind replied to nprcowboy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm praying for your healing. I am so glad now that my insurance didn't pay for my surgery and thus I went to Texas to Dr. Nicholson. Tampa General Bariatric Center is a joke. After reading this thread, I remembered that when I met with the surgeon that the walls were so thin that my husband and I could hear every single word of the patient in the next room, which of course is a privacy issue, when I mentioned it to the nurse she said that they were having the walls "redone" because the contractor cut corners to save money. Well it was newly finished! They took my deposit, didn't check my insurance, stiffed me... the staff was horrible, particularly the administration staff. Sorry to be "off topic" slightly, but I feel like the Lord saved me from going to this place. Sounds like they don't have their act together. I hope you and your wife are okay.... -
140. Down half pound. I may go up a bit next week because I am starting prednisone and it really blows you up big time. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

Same as last week. No change. 140.5. Thanks.

chew, chew, chew and binders
Nevermind replied to pheonix's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
PS: Mine was just a white velcro binder you wrap around your tummy to keep everything from moving as much. -
chew, chew, chew and binders
Nevermind replied to pheonix's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to a local medical supply store for mine. Also, the hospital pharmacy where I had my surgery had them. If I remember correctly, it was $30ish or so, maybe little more. My memory is fuzzy. Check with surgeon's office or call around. Good luck. -
chew, chew, chew and binders
Nevermind replied to pheonix's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's always a good idea to chew food. For me, I eat normally now (6 months post-op). Chewing helps with digestion. The enzymes in your mouth start to break down the food. Regarding an abdominal binder, I found it to be a God-send after surgery. Especially since my surgeon did an extra deep muscle stitch. I would definitely recommend the abdominal binder. Good luck and best wishes. -
Oh my starting weight is 141. Goal is 138, but may adjust later. I think I'll be happy to not gain during holidays. Thanks again.

Unprepared for this complication
Nevermind replied to tammygRN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Prayers for a better recovery this time around. Thanks for sharing your experience. Sometimes pre-ops want to just read about good results but need to be informed about the bad as well. (I am thankful I've had no complications). God be with you today. -
Ok, I'm in. I don't want to be unrealistic with my goal. I am simply setting my goal at 138 and hoping to go further. It was kind of a bummer to not make last goal..... But I like the accountability. Thanks for the time you put into this.

I have had no problems and praise God for His blessings. I have a separate chronic pain condition that I thought this surgery would cure but I still am dealing with that. I do feel better that I am 55 pounds down and within 20 pounds of goal. I hope your surgery goes well for you. Sorry I didn't see your message right away. You can do this.... -
The true evil of Halloween - candy
Nevermind replied to *Lexie*'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
This day has been a serious trap for me. I went way over my calorie limit. Definitely slider foods...yeah, I've sworn it off and getting back on the horse! Yeehaw :/ -
My goal was 140. My weight as of October 31 is 142.5. I missed my goal by 2.5# I am still proud of myself...I just keep wondering if there's ever going to be a day where the numbers don't bother me. Congrats to everyone who moved closer to a healthier you

Anyone from Central Florida?
Nevermind replied to nprcowboy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did not have my surgery done by Gonzalvo but almost did. By that I mean I went through the ENTIRE process and they told me and my insurance told me it was covered. Right before I went in to have my Pre-surgery appt, I was told there was an exclusion and it wasn't. The Bariatric Center didn't even check my benefits as they said they had. They did however get my "program fee" money. And the money I spent on nutrition classes, etc. At $40 a pop. I did feel like Gonzalvo seemed knowledgeable BUT the office staff and the way they run the business is beyond bad. In the end, I ended up being self pay and going to Dr. Nicholson in Texas. I feel it was a blessing because Dr. Nick is top-notch. Sorry, that's the only experience I have with them. Hope everything works out Ok. -
