I ate a piece of pizza last night..... And I liked it!
MindiJean replied to xmarycontraryx's topic in Food and Nutrition
I was four weeks out yesterday. We had a Christmas gathering with cookie decorating, gift opening, and four large pizzas. I had four ounces of pureed chicken. I'm on regular diet now. -
I will be 30 days out from surgery tomorrow. Today I weighed in at a 29 pound loss. Hoping to lose that one pound overnight to make it an even 30 pounds!!

My husband brought home a small turkey today from work, so I guess we have our dinner planned! What kind of things can I add to the dinner menu that have at least SOME redeeming (ie:protein) qualities?
-
What are you planning on making/eating? Will you just eat the turkey? Will you make some other high Protein dishes? Will you eat a little of everything? I plan on mostly having some dark turkey. I am also making a few high protein dishes....a quinoa dish with powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury cheese mix, a brussel sprout with bacon and parmesean, a waldorf salad made with Greek yogurt, apples, barley, walnuts, grapes. Our friend is bringing all the dishes I can't eat...the mashed potatoes, the stuffing, pies.

Anyone else?

I was eating pureed before I left the hospital. Have been on soft food for over a week now and will be on regular food by Christmas. I am cooking for my husband and my friends. I can always put leftovers in a container and just heat them up for another meal. Makes my life much easier!

Anything with tomatoes is not working for me. Funny, I had the same issue with tomatoes during chemo.
-
just wanted to add.....when I read the title of this post, I thought you were talking about boogers.
-
it tasted like pureed egg, chicken and regular greek yogurt. Pureed to a pulp. I think it was one ounce? Add salt and pepper. I don't know anyone who has had the sleeve and not eaten pureed for a while. You can't go straight to regular food. Even now, I'm on soft food, only what I can cut with a fork. Last night's dinner was 3 ounces of baked chicken thigh, cut into tiny pieces and then chewed to a pulp.

Those sound gross !! Um, most people have to eat pureed Protein for a few weeks.

I ordered whatever I wanted off the stage one menu. Most of the time it was three tiny bowls, and usually it was pureed egg, pureed chicken and Greek yogurt.

This answer my question about hair loss
MindiJean replied to jungarcia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having lived through chemo and drastic hair loss, I'm not worried. -
Pureed food ideas
MindiJean replied to chanelle102's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would start slow and bland, just pureed chicken. I did simple pureed one ingredient dishes for two weeks. Tomatoes, once I started them, made me sick. I wouldn't go adding anything. Just pureed chicken with salt and pepper. -
Pureed food ideas
MindiJean replied to chanelle102's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I already mentioned mine, but here it is again: pureed eggs, pureed chicken, pureed tuna, pureed turkey, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese. -
I had pureed Proteins. I still only eat proteins. Egg, tuna, chicken, cheese, cottage cheese, fish.
-
I was eating three pureed meals a day before I left the hospital. Some surgeons do it that way. At two weeks out, I was eating regular soft food. I've lost 25 lbs since surgery on Nov 20
-
I'm trying to make a few things that I can take a bite or two of, and I'd rather it be protein-rich.
-
I was thinking sauteed brussel sprouts with a sprinkling of bacon and parmesean to up the Protein anti. I found a recipe for a black bean and quinoa cold salad that sounds good?

I am two weeks post-op today. I am starting to feel a little less sore. Went for surgical appointment on Monday and they lowered my insulin again. Its sounding like I might be going off the insulins soon! Blood sugar was an unhealthy 57 when I got up this morning. I have lost an even 20 pounds in the past two weeks. Amazing to me! The surgeon said, on average, people lose 30 pounds in the first month, so I am well on my way to being "average"! Yay to average!!!

Nov 2013 Sleevers Progress So Far...
MindiJean replied to soonerorlater's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on November 20, and I had pureed egg while still in the hospital! My surgeon has us eating before discharge. I'm now on the soft diet, anything I can cut with a fork. -

My Surgeon Doesn't Require A Pre-Op Diet?
MindiJean replied to sleever427's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not even necessary to do liquids two days before! My surgeon did the surgery just fine! He stopped any food or liquid intake at midnight the night before surgery. I ate "regular" food up until midnight, just smaller portions and high protein/low carb so as to shrink any fatty liver. -
My Surgeon Doesn't Require A Pre-Op Diet?
MindiJean replied to sleever427's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have a pre op diet really. My surgeon doesn't believe in getting nutrition through liquid. I had pureed food while still in the hospital. I'm two weeks out tomorrow and moved up to soft foods yesterday. -
I'm so sorry Susan. My nausea and vomiting was pretty controlled during chemo, I took Emend and Zofran and Lorazepam. But I also didn't eat much, didn't feel like it. I worry about if I'll ever need chemo again with the sleeve. Susan, you and all cancer fighters/survivors are in my prayers.

Nov 2013 Sleevers Progress So Far...
MindiJean replied to soonerorlater's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Back from the surgeon's. My total loss, from two days after surgery, 10 days ago, is 17 pounds. Is that good?
