I can't really compare the two, but I don't think it is that bad...at least for me. I have some gas pain in my left shoulder, but the most uncomfortable part is the exterior staples. IMO, this has to be easier than either an c section or any open surgery. None of my pain has been bad enough for pain meds after I was released from the hospital 24 hours after my procedure. When the nurse has you rate you pain...you know...1-10 and has emoticon faces...I wouldn't rate any of this above a 4 and way, way, way easier than natural childbirth ...actually even childbirth with meds. Although I can speak for anyone else, I hope this helped a bit.

Sept 24 surgery date. or as Mom puts it, the day I lose my "funny"

Our pre-surgery numbers are pretty close. I had my surgery last Thursday and it was smooth as silk. I was pretty nervous beforehand and got even more so in the staging area immediately prior to surgery. I was terrified that something would go wrong and that my kids wouldn't have the kind of mother they need. Three days out, I'm not taking any pain meds but OTC Tylenol and feel good. I actually feel more energetic that before the surgery. You'll have wonderful luck too & surgery will be over before you know it. Then you mom can learn how much funnier a thin you can be. -
I'm not terribly knowledgable about protein drinks, but do know that muscle milk chocolate is one of the few I can choke down.

OMGosh...I've been the same way. For the first few days after surgery I couldn't keep dry mouth under control. I started sleeping with a sugar free cough drop in my cheek and sipped every couple of hours on Water through the night. I hope yours gets better soon as it is a miserable feeling.

Funny NSV ( well I think so anyways)

I love it! A similar thing happened to me about 8 years ago but in reverse...I saw a really fat version of myself across a store...sadly it was me. -
Arts had great advice and I believe he is 100% right - focus on yourself and everything else will follow. I met my husband at work and had passing contact with him several times a week for over a year. He never once gave me a second look...until the day I dyed my blonde hair red. He saw me and immediately asked me out. Lol. I could be irritated that he didn't notice me earlier, instead I choose to believe that things happen when they are supposed to.

Embarassing Moment during Pre-Op diet
Old self replied to extracat's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a similar experience, but fortunately I'd been lurking on the forums here for a while. Whoever coined the term "Never trust a fart" is my hero, because they saved me from pooping my pants several times already. -

Whos in September? We need some September buddies!

Congrats! We'll be under at the same time. From what I've read a couple of things you must take are gasx strips and a heating pad. There is a whole thread pinned on this under the pre-op forum. Good luck! It will go well for both of us. -

I've only told my husband and best friend who lives far away. They are both very supportive but I know the rest of my family would not be. I love them, but I don't need the negativity about this. My mother is awful about it...when my father commented about how nice his mechanics wife looked since losing so much weight( she was sleeved) my mom pursed her lips and said "we'll she won't keep it off she goes back to her old habits."

I would donate only if my husband was on board with the decision. I don't defer to him on my every decision, but this one does effect him. There are a lot of hormonal changes you're going to experience during the process and they will effect everyone in your house. Good luck on your decision.
