What is the recovery like for tummy tuck, breast lift with agumentation
PsychoVGS replied to hkdontplay's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I just had a tummy tuck w/ muscle repair & lipo and breast augmentation-- I am in week 2 of recovery. It has kicked my butt. The pain has subsided but mobility is limited. I am also physically exhausted. I think its going to be at least another week before I have the stamina to go back to work (and I sit a lot). -
How are people paying for plastics?
PsychoVGS replied to hkdontplay's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
My tummy tuck cost $9,800. It also included lip of flanks. I think I got a very reasonable cost by a reputable doctor in my area. I took it out of savings. My payment of the surgery was due before the surgery. Good luck!! -
Hospital or Surgical Center
PsychoVGS replied to IcanMakeit's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I recently had a tummy tuck and was given the same two options- to stay in the hospital or the surgical center. My last several experiences in the hospital were horrible, so I opted to stay at the Plastic Surgeon's surgical suite. I got terrific nursing care!! Nurses were attentive and were like private duty nurses. I felt pampered and in excellent hands. The doctor checked on me multiple times because he was in the office practicing. I paid a little more to have the surgery in the Plastic Surgeon's surgical suite, and so glad I did. I would definitely do it again. BTW, you may want to request experal, a pain medicine that is injected right into the abdominal muscles during surgery. It helped me tremendously with managing pain. As a matter of fact, I stopped all pain meds on day #3. Good luck to you. -

PsychoVGS replied to gettinMeBack's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Love them myself! I drink all the flavors. I also mix extra Protein powder in them to boost the protein count. I recommend them completely! -
Have not noticed loss of public hair, although its nice to be able to see that part of my body again!!! Ha! I have been losing hair from about 5 months out from surgery to now, 9 months out. Hair loss is sooooo disturbing to me. However, in the past few weeks, I have seen baby hair growing, so I know regrowth is happening. Whew!! I expected hair loss because its a natural reaction to the stress of drastic weight loss on the body-- Ive read many scientific reports that document that theres no way to prevent it. However, something I have not read about is the brittleness of my nails. I have gone from consistently long and strong nails, to nails that split and crack. I can't even get them to grow out before they break off. Anyone heard of this?

Oh yes, indeed! Loose skin EVERYWHERE! Initially, I was horrified at the unattractiveness of the loose skin on thighs, stomach, arms, butt, back…. but it is gradually firming up a little. I don't expect it to go away, but I have noticed it is not as loose as it was at first. I don't know if this is the experience others have or not, but it is lessening. And, it doesn't bother me because the tremendous benefits of my weight loss is much greater than this problem. For me, I am grateful everyday that I had this surgery.

June 2013 Sleevers! "The List"
PsychoVGS replied to rebecca_dsu's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Im June 10th, 2013. -
I too am horrified by the gobs of hair that Im losing on a daily basis. Im 5 months post sleeve and have been noticing hair loss for the past several weeks. Ive been careful to take all Vitamins associated with keeping hair in good health, but I think there is probably nothing that can prevent the loss of hair when we lose so much weight so rapidly. Still… hard to cope with.

What's Unique About Being A 50S Sleever?
PsychoVGS replied to EileenFrances's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Losing weight for many years, has been something I would do in the future. Now that I'm in my 50s, the future is here. As we get older we realize this stage of life is not infinite. I don't want to be fat my whole life. I've decided the time to live is NOW. I was sleeved in June 2013 and my entire life has changed! Every dimension of my life has improved!!! -
5 Weeks Post-OP Still Teaching Myself to Eat Slowly
PsychoVGS commented on joatsaint's blog entry in Gastric Sleeve Surgery - An Unexpected Journey
Relieved to hear others having trouble with eating slowly. I am 8 weeks out and consistently find myself in pain after eating. I think that eating too quickly makes it difficult to sense when I am full, so I end up eating beyond that point. I have got to SLOW down! -
This thread reminds me again of my true journey: Losing excess layers to find my true self. Thanks!

I like that you are now focusing on gaining personal strength and not the numbers on the scale! Good for you.

12 weeks post op update..
PsychoVGS commented on makemyownluck's blog entry in I'll make my own luck
I love your attitude. I too, have approached this entire endeavor with the belief that I am exactly where I'm supposed to be, taking right action, and making a free choice to invite change and growth. I had nearly no pain post opt and have been losing steadily in the 6 weeks since surgery. Keep your mind in the same direction! Best regards on your journey! -

Good for you. I ate at a Mexican restaurant tonight. It was only the second time I've been out to dinner since my sleeve on June 10th. I ate chicken and guacamole from a fajita dinner my daughter ordered. Definitely much less food than usual. It felt good to be normal, but not overdo on the food like normal.

My new favorite food for pureed/soft foods is...
PsychoVGS replied to LipstickLady's topic in Soft (stage 3)
I like these combinations: *sausage crumbles, onion, cheddar cheese *sun-dried tomatoes, feta, spinach *broccoli, swiss cheese, red pepper *ham, cheddar cheese, bacon -
I am definitely going to try these. I want something I can grab as I head out the door to work. Maybe mix some sausage crumbles and cheddar cheese, or sun dried tomatoes and feta cheese??
