Hi all I hope someone else can tell me they started out like me. I have so much anxiety I am about 5 weeks out and until yesturday I could hardly eat anything. Now food is going down easy and I just over ate I had about 1 1/2 cup of chix, carrots, string Beans and squash that I made in the slow cooker. I don't feel terrible just really full and when I bent down to put dishes away I got a throat full. But the real problem is my fear that something will go wrong, that I will PB ect or slip. I am over focusing on everything going on inside me and am dying to drink Water to wash down this full feeling, I know I can't. Am I going to be able to do this? The thought of getting a fill is filling me with fear. I want to be one of the smiling faces on this board that says "I love my band" But right now all I can say is I am afraid of my band. Does it get easier? What is wrong with me? Diane

I am so sorry to hear about your Mom's death, thats a lot of changes in one year you are a very strong person. I will say it for me and your Mom I am very proud of you...:clap2: -
Thanks SD Chick and everyone else who replied I just found out from my Doctor that I am slightly hyper thyroid so I know that is contributing to my post op anxiety. So I have to lower my thyroid meds and wait for them to get out of my system.

HI I know this is new and I have heard that depression ect is common after surgery but what about anxiety? I am feeling so afraid that something is going to go wrong even though I have thankfully had an uncomplicated recovery, just some nausea and weakness. I keep obsessing about a problem arising and having to have surgery again....... Mostly because of the sleep apnea machine i had/have to use I was never given the machine untill a couple of days before surgery and I was so anxious about surgery that everytime I tried to use it I felt clostophobia (sp) then after sugery when they gave me my pain shot and I laid down with the machine it didnot stop me from not breathing and the nurse kept comming in and waking me up yelling at me that I wasn't breathing. I was so frightened that I wouldn't go to sleep or take pain meds. I was told that my sleep apnea was very mild the lowest number being 5 i was a 7. I did not use the machine in recovery and am unaware of any complications. I think the pain meds were to strong for me, I always need only small doses of medications. When I expressed my concerns to the morning nurse she said that my saturation and oxigen levels were always fine so I guess thats a good thing. So now I am afraid to eat or do anything that might cause problems with my band, and am in constant watch and anxiety mode. Feeling stuck in this situation as unbanding would mean facing my biggest fear. Please tell me I will get over this thanks Diane

I had a bladder infection and they were considering canceling however I went on antibiotics and reculterd before surgery and it was fine However at my preop testing they would not test for a bladder infection because I needed a prescription for the test SO make sure you get one for a throat culture before going for testing. good luck Diane

I am having mushy food and am going a way for a week just as I start solid food, I will be 5 days on solid food and thinking of canceling the trip. I will be able in a limitted way prepare my own food, fear of eating who knew I would ever say that.

Hi all I am scheduled for surgery on Tue 7/17 and now I am worried about complications during surgery due to the fact I that I did not follow the preop liquid diet. I started with a low bmi if that matters but I went from not being sure I wanted to do this to a set date in 10 weeks and during this time my Father passed. I also went nuts eating all the high carb foods I have been depriving my self of mostly pizza and bread.:hungry: I did still managed to loose 5 lbs but not the 20 that was required. please save me from the "what if monster" :omg:

thank you all who have replied I am even more scared to tell the surgeon, afraid he will cancel the surgery My ultra sound came back that my liver was normal in size I was at the office a few days ago and they weighed me no one once asked if I was sticking to the diet, I was down 1 lb I was reading the papers that I was given at preop and it gives you the out line for eating 2 days preop it says "all your heavy eating should be over at this point" so i guess they know people are going to cheat i know I am hearing what i want and I appreciate all your advice thanks
