Happy dance time!! Down 30 lbs since pre op...sleeved 8/29 ????

Maybe you're making yourself crazy by getting on the scale at all right now? As hard as it might be, why not put it out of reach for a week or two...think you might be pleasantly surprised when you do weigh in.

Hang in there Mocha! I was sleeved same day as you and experienced the same problem. It was so bad that I barely took in anything the next day, plus I was throwing up what I tried to take in! In fact, they didn't want to release me until I could keep stuff down without the nausea meds. I managed to convince them that just getting home would help (who the hell can rest and recover in a hospital??). Surprisingly they agreed, and it has made a world of difference. The nausea is completely gone, pain is minimal, and the gas is much, much better! Keep on walking...it really does help. Increasing my intake slowly, and not beating myself up for falling a little short at the end of the day...as long as it improves a bit more the next day. Mostly focusing on fluid intake to avoid dehydration...but once your sleeve "wakes up" and the gas subsides, you'll know when your tiny little tummy wants nourishment. We'll get there! -
Any Michigan Sleevers?

Hi all! I'm three days post op...living in Texas but native to the Walled Lake/Wixom area (southwestern Oakland county). My heart...and most of my family...are still in Michigan. Happy to say that it's been pretty smooth so far. First 24 hours wasn't so much fun...nausea and gas interfered with taking in much of anything, but it's improved since then. My question is, how did you all figure out the "pacing" of your intake so that you didn't overwhelm your sleeve, but take in the amounts you should be? This seems to be my biggest problem at the moment. -
Me too! Arrive at 8am...surgery at 10:00. Good luck to you...see you on the other side!

Good luck to all those on deck for tomorrow! Sending up those positive vibes for a smooth procedure and easy recovery. One more day to wait for me til I get to the other side...anxious and excited all at once! ????

This really is my one true fear as well, even though my head knows it's not going to play out that way. Fear of the unknown, I suppose! -

Yikes! Throwing up large amounts of blood?? Just when I think I've got my head in a good place about this thing, some poor soul such as yourself pipes up to remind us that recovery can be pretty dramatic. So glad to hear you're doing better!

I'm still a newbie here, but I had my suspicions as I read through this thread!

My surgery will be on 8/29 and planning to return to work on 9/9...eleven days after the big day. I'm a middle school teacher and really hoping that I'm not biting off more than I can chew (pun intended lol!). Seriously though, it's the start of the school year for me (kids return on the 26th)...so just enough time to greet them and get them a bit settled before I'm off. Fingers crossed all goes well and I'm one of the lucky ones in terms of healing and recovery! I'm feeling very optimistic after all the positive stories I've encountered on this site. Thanks to all for your inspirational stories...keeps the mindset positive and hopeful!
