What would get you upset if all I am trying to do is help those that are going thru all that they are . Everyone is willing to tell what they use but is it working . You can't deny that there are some of the same effects from banding as any of the other processes and what works should be what we are talikng about.

August '07 -- Compare pre-op diets
Crystal Rhinos replied to Alexandra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is what I don't understand...everyone thinks the pre-op diet is so rigorous, but the truth is that this whole process is rigorous and anything you can do to ,help your body adjust to a new lifesyle will be good. Any steps you can do that will satify your hunger and keep you from craving or obsessing on food will help. And if you can lose weight and get your body shifted over to the weight loss side rather than the weight gain side is also a plus. Lets look at what a benefit the preop can be and not how hard it is. -
So I am reading all the threads and I start looking at all the different things everybody is trying and I am thinking what is wrong with this picture? I see two things wrong...first we spend all this money to get this surgery in hopes of being successful and we byuy the least expensive and the vitamins with the least nutritional value out there. Alsowhy are you not working on strenghtening your system rather than making sure that you will continue to stress it out with vitamins with very low avaiability and nutrition for your body. Let me explain if I can...the side effects of banding are three fold1) -poor nutritional support of your body,2) low calcium absorption during banding, and 3) poor caloric support for you during weight loss. If you look at these three disadvatages,to my thinking you should be doing three things to counter the effects of the lapband...1) take a nutritional that is waer soluble that can be taken in a liquid form that allows for easy acceptance thru the pouch,2)a redily available source of calcium to make sure that you are not depleting your bones of the valuable nutrient, and 3) a balance food replacement that will help you to conquer your physiological cravings and is easy on the banding. I have such a product and if you are nterested let me know and I can let you know how to try it...the folks that are using this are well on their way to their weight goal and it is easy for them. Let me know!

I just wanted to talk about the fact that it should be refered to as a preop life style not diet...we know what the word diet does to us all....Secondly ..if we look at what we do now as an act of our free will , more than it is of our doctors orders ,the more success we will have as time goes by. The banding is our decision to do something different with our lives. If the only thing we decide to do differently is the banding ,then we might want to ask ourselves what we are going to do in addition to the banding and what will ultimatly bring me success as a result of my own decisions and not by directive of someone else. If you want help with a diet that changes your life style and your life send me your contact info and let us help you. Regards, Crystal,

Eating plan for diabetic bandster
Crystal Rhinos replied to NancyRN's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just logged on for the first time and this caught my eye. I have been helping someone thru the first weeks of the surgery and she is doing well. We started her out on a preop diet that helped her lose 10 pounds in the three weeks up to her surgery and then got here blood sugar lowered to where she was closer to normal .after the initial clear liquid post op she was back on the same plan and has slowly introduced her soft meats and kept her preop plan going and 1 month post op she has lost 30 lbs and has no cravings and has been doing well. The plan called for a nutritional supplement that is water soluble so the pills can be disolved in water that is used to mix a meal replacement shake...It takes her roughly 2 hours to get the shake drank in the morning and the same in the evening .Low glycemic meals in between help her to keep going and a great support team to help her . If you are at all interested I can give you all the info and support you need. There are really great plans out there to help get you thru this . You do not have to be alone thru this.
