  1. Hi, I had my sleeve on August 7th at Pindara with Dr Nolan. I live in Surfers Paradise. I am interested to hear from any locals who have been recently sleeved. Still finding my way around this site which is why it has taken me so long to find this thread.

    Where Is Everyone From?

    Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia.
  3. I had this on the third day as well but that was all. I am all good now. So it will get better! I am day 12 now, on puree. Still burping though.
  4. I was an NZRN, a long time ago, nursing did not cause my obesity. I was a fat baby, then a fat kid, after the nursing bit I was a stay at home mum to 2 girls who are now 29 & 32. I have two grand daughters who live in the Uk with their mum and dad. If I am forced to fill in a form which has an occupation question I put Textile Artist! I currently live in Australia but have lived in up state New York and in Ottawa, Canada.

    August 2013 Roll Call

Today I am 9 days post op. I am now on puréed foods. My teeth are still feeling redundant! I have had no pain since coming home from hospital on day 2 post op. in hospital the only pain med was I V Panadol. Yesterday I worked out on MFP that I am getting about 300 cal a day, which must be why I feel a bit washed out sometimes. I don't have to count anything yet, that will come with the next food stage. Today I am allowed to take my dressings off. I have 5 entry sites. During Surgery a small hiatus hernia was repaired, apparently this is quite common. Next week I am allowed to drive again! I have lost 2.7 kg (6 lbs) since Surgery and 8 kg (17.5 lbs) since the beginning if the pre op diet. Luckily I don't work but I would not feel like going to work just yet. My surgeon has stressed that this is Major surgery and despite my looking and feeling so well there was still a lot of repair work going on inside. I am enjoying reading all of your posts and many of you make me laugh, it is weird that I feel so aligned to you just because we have the same surgery month!

    One day post op HELP!

I am on day 4. When I first had water it felt like swallowing rocks. They explained that if there is a little something in the water like gastrolyte it starts getting absorbed on the way down and so no rock swallowing feeling. This worked for me. I am home now and am improving every day. Good luck!

You could say "thank you for your concern". Then just leave it at that. She would not know how much research you have done about this. The time and effort you have spent getting ready for your surgery. The way you feel about your body and past failed dieting regimes. She has crossed a boundary and you should be wary of her in the future. It is good to have somewhere to vent isn't it? I have a dog - he gets a lot of my venting!

In Australia so my surgery will be over before your day starts! Weird huh?
  9. My understanding is that the high protein diet pre-op also helps protect your muscles so that when you can't get enough protein in immediately post op your body will take its energy from your fat and not your muscles. Then you won't feel so weak and muscle depleted. My surgeon also said that it would shrink my liver by about 20% which would make his ability to do a good sleeve better. Does that make sense?
