Hey Cheryl, I was around after the meeting I just got swept up by the newbies, they had so many questions and I remember being in there shoes and having so many things that I wanted to aske someone who had already been through the procedure. Thanks for the kudos, I have been working hard and have more work to put in. I know the feeling about the closet I have a closet FULL of clothes that dont fi size 18 and 20 all from Lane Bryant... a small fortune invested that I just cant seem to purge. I try to make some of them still work because if got rid of everything that didnt fit id be left with barely enough clothes for a week =-). You know I'm down 91lbs but 38 of that was pre surgery so since the band i have only lost 53lbs but I still have about 30 or so i want to take off. I think anyprogress we have made is great because with out the band we would both probably be where we were before if not heavier! I dont regret it at all!

Hi Denise, good to see you. Wanted to tell you how great you look but you disappeared. Congrats, you are an inspiration and your hard work hard shows. I've come to terms with my wt loss/lack of. Cleaning out closet the other day, couldn't believe how old clothes were swimming on me. Made me feel better and have accepted that maybe this is it but that's ok. I haven't gained in 2 yrs and am not hungry or suffering. Never one minute of regret...even if I'm foaming at the mouth with unwise food choice. Whoo boy, that's bad.
Keep up the good work!

Should one have the band unfilled before having gallbladder surgery? Are there risks of vomiting or aspiration?

hey cheryl, how are you? I am really happy with the band so far. i am down a total of a 73lbs according to my home scale which notoriously weighs me 2 lbs less than the scale at dr. takahashis office. 38 of thoes lbs were off as of the day of surgery, but the way i look at it is that every lb counts. it took a while to find my so called sweet spot (about 4 fills) but once she found it things really started to progress. i am about 1/2 way to my goal and still have a ways to go, but so far so good! ive got another appt. ina bout 2 weeks and im not sure if she his going to give me any additional fill. i am always nervous not to get one, and i have been having some intermittent heart burn which really doent seem to be food related, but i'll address that with her at the appointment. i am plannig on going to the next support group meeting in may, so if you go maybe ill see you there. take care

Hi Denise,
Long time no see. How are you doing? Are you happy with your lap band? I still have no regrets. Wished I lost more wt but happy with the 30 that are gone forever/lack of hunger. I probably have to have my gallbladder out, not looking forward to that. Hope all is well. cheryl

hey cheryl, big bear was awesome. we were there during the snow storm which was great, beacuse up until that day i had never seen snow fall before, so i was excited my children got experience that. i did some skiing and just got to spend alot of time with my husband and kids which was great. my band didnt give me any problems, i'm still searching for my sweet spot. had a fill today not great weight loss, but some loss is better than none.

Hi, Glad you liked him. I recently asked someone who works in surgery about him, said he is a very good surgeon.
Don't know how to advise you regarding band vs bypass. The bypass affords faster wt loss but one can regain, have absorption probs and it's irreversible. The band is a lot more work, ie, finding proper restriction, slower wt loss but is reversible. Just remember, you can eat around both surgeries, liquid calories go down just fine. With the bypass, often times you can't tolerate much sugar and will have dumping syndrome (nausea, diarrhea, sweating) Lap Band, sugar, ice cream go down fine, so you have to not even have them around, if that's an issue.
I'm happy with my choice but you just have to read everything you can to make the best choice for yourself. The support meetings are helpful, not my favorite thing, I would prefer a smaller group but have made an effort to go lately. good luck to you.
