Hi Brandi, I had my surgery on Dec. 26 and just had the drain removed last Firday, Jan. 2. You won't even know it's there except when you have to get up to use the bathroom and have to be careful with the pouch. I just let it hang while I showered and didn't feel lit. I kept mine in a pocket, even after I returned home. It doesn't interfere with anything and doesn't hurt at all. When the surgeon removed it, I didn't feel anything, just a slight tug. Good luck, Betty

Americangirl, Try Pinterest.com...they have a lot of vegan recipes for sleeve patients. My daughter has been using this sight for some time and loves their recipes for gluten free too. -
Shopping list for the hospital etc.

I was released yesterday after my surgery. I was able to use Gax-X strips and throat lozenges, also no mention was made about the chapstick or Blistex. I guess it depends on your hospital and I was in a hospital of excellence because of Medicare. My surgeon has me on Tylenol with codeine liquid for the pain. The best thing for the gas pain was walking...walk, walk, walk as much as you can, it really helps! I'm happy to be home and beginning my new journey. -

Thank you, Superfatty. I have Blistex so I will be bringing that with me instead of the Chapstick. I wasn't aware of the difference. I going on Thursday and I am ready...can't wait for this to happen! -

You're welcome, donaboss. I've been reading a lot of posts and most people said that after the surgery, our mouths and lips will be really dry, even though they give us ice chips. I glad this helped, also the worst complaint was pain in the shoulders from the air they pump into our stomachs, that's why gas-x strips are important. Also, if you bring a pillow, just don't have a white pillowcase on it! I'm getting really excited...hope we both do well. Betty -

Hi donaboss, My surgery is scheduled for December 26. I have been using Protein shakes for Breakfast or lunch even though my surgeon has me on an Atkins diet. The ones I like are Muscle Milk, Atkins and at BJ's I got Premier Protein Shakes which are really good. My doctor's office gave me a whole schedule for before and after the surgery. I guess the most important things you'll need are Gas-X strips, some kind of chapstick of lip moisturizer and throat lozenges. Also, you might want to take your cell phone, phone charger, socks and slippers, a pillow and anything else that will make you comfortable. As far as pain medicine, I think the hospital will give you that if needed. Hope this helps...good luck. If I can be anymore help, let me know. Betty -

Good luck, Raine! This is my first time writing too even though I've been following it for several weeks. My date is December 26 so it will be a Christmas present for me too. Hope it all goes well. Betty -

I'm happy to see someone else is having their sleeve surgery on December 26th. Saw my surgeon yesterday and I'm all set for my surgery. I'm to start an Atkins diet this weekend, which is basically lots of Protein and low carbs. Good luck with your pre-testing...hope it all goes well. -
