Coffee Question.,,
Kattastic replied to DirtyHarriett's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I weaned myself off of caffeine before surgery and haven't gone back to it except for the past two weeks, one day each week. I don't know what it was but I just absolutely needed a cup of coffee! -
What's Your Food Philosophy: Abstain Forever Or Eat In Moderation?
Kattastic replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe the "honeymooners" input starts to matter after we've been successful enough to take provocative pictures and post it as our profile picture? Okay if that wasn't snarky than I don't know what it is. And I told myself I wouldn't be bitchy… -

I took it in a condescending way, but maybe I'm wrong. We may be honeymooners but someone has to reply! -
The Sleeve A Cure For Emotional Eating?
Kattastic replied to Camella's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am very happy with my sleeve, but it is missing one thing... the ability to cure emotional eating! I am 6 weeks out today and have been struggling with emotional eating the past few weeks. Since I'm new, it's so easy to say no, but I do worry about down the road which is why I go to therapy now and try to make as much emotional progress now as I can, because as stated above, it's only going to get harder. I'm glad for the people in your support group, but it's definitely not a cure for everyone. Probably not even for most. -

gamergirl, Since your kids are still young, why not start a new holiday tradition which doesn't involve chex mix? Maybe it could be a healthy cookie recipe where everyone, including the kids, helps out making them... does such a thing exist??? If so, send me the recipe -

You two and your chips! Hahaha. The only food that I won't allow into my house is anything larger than an individually packaged ice cream. Like you with the chips, if a half gallon were to be in my freezer, I'd find a way to eat the whole thing. But, for my daughter and fiancé, I buy individual servings of ice cream and have no problem not touching it. -
What's Your Food Philosophy: Abstain Forever Or Eat In Moderation?
Kattastic replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with you as long as 90% + is heathy. I subscribe to moderation and one way I hold myself accountable is with tracking every morsel. However, there are a lot of people, like my sister, who simply can't do things in moderation and she abstains. Know thy self, as they say! -

Does It Always Have To Be That Way?
Kattastic replied to WeeWers's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As previously stated, stay strong and positive!! And use a psychologist and/or doctor when needed. My Surgeon's office has a monthly support group and at Monday's meeting, my surgeon talked specifically about how regardless of the tool you choose, the mental battle and the patient's willingness to commit to a healthy lifestyle is OVER half the battle. He said you can get lap band, RNY, the sleeve... and they'll all help you to lose weight, but it's up to YOU to continue the weight loss long term. I already know that I'm going to struggle, but dammit, I didn't get this surgery done just to give up before I am really even getting started. You can do it! -
I haven't noticed any difference...

Headaches... like the above poster asked, are you drinking enough Water? Also, are you on a PPI? My Prilosec was fine, but when my sister took a PPI she had nasty headaches and her surgeon switched her to Zantac instead.

Thanksgiving Challenge
Kattastic replied to FabMomof4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm here for my weekly check in! CW 235... only 6 more to go to reach my Thanksgiving goal! -
Yes, ketones! If you remain low carb, the smell will most likely stay. I smelled for the first 3 weeks and I'm 5 weeks post op now. I eat carbs though and I noticed that the smell has gone away. I still put Protein first, but I eat a mix of good carbs too when I have room. Keep panty liners around for frequent changes and breath mints. Good luck!

Grazing is what my surgeon & nutritionist call a slippery slope! My 5-6 mini-meals are intentional though and the "grazing" thing is dangerous when it's mindless and due to boredom. I make sure to track ALL BITES (ABCs = all bites count) and as long as I'm within my Protein goal and Water goal, my surgeon and nutritionist encourage the small meals. They discourage grazing when it's not tracked. Head hunger is my enemy, but so far, I've been able to control it. I'm worried more for down the road with that one!

Hi, I'm almost 5 weeks post op and my surgeon uses of 44 bougie. I am also eating about 1000 calories a day. I don't understand how people are only eating 500 and 600 cal per day!! I have not hit a weight stall yet but I'm sure that I will eventually. I'm so glad that you posted this because I swear we are the minority here, haha.

Ns"v": People Are Talking About Me!
Kattastic posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 1 month post op and I am hearing from people that other people (at work and amongst other friends) are asking what I'm doing to lose weight because I'm "shrinking"! I had been sitting here after a cold walk feeling sorry for myself because I wanted candy, but when another unsolicited compliment came in from my fiancés best friend, it cheered me up! And he has NO idea about my surgery. Pre-Op W: 262 CW: 236.3 -

Thanks so much! I try not to dwell but every once in a while I catch myself. Most if the time I am positive though! Congrats on the 105 you lost and never want to find again!! -
Tylenol as stated. Do you normally get headaches? One of the most common reasons in General is dehydration so make sure you're getting your liquid in!! Good luck!

I'm 4 weeks out and get between 1000-1200 depending. I've lost about 25 lbs since 10/6. (262 to 236.3)

How do you pick your goal weight?
Kattastic replied to Bombs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sure that everyone is different. I talked about it with my bariatric doctor and also used a time when I felt healthy even though I'd still be overweight by the bmi chart. I chose 175 lbs. once I get there, I may make it 150. We'll see. Only 65 lbs to go!
