I am trying to find out how to know what the calories, carbs, fats, sugars, Protein, Vitamins, etc. Examples are: 1 cup of red seedless grapes. Cooked great northern Beans - how many = what? Jiffy cornbread - 1 slice. Need to know how much it "costs" me to eat things like this. By "costs", I mean the things we need to keep up with mentioned above. I would appreciate any help you can give me? I'm sure there is a link somewhere but I'm not finding it. Thank you so much for your help! I am post surgery but don't have a nutritionist to ask these questions.

flat butt blues - shapewear recommendations?
peytonplace replied to CowgirlJane's topic in The Gals' Room
Thanks for all the information. Yes, I have wanted to start with my head and stop with my feet on the plastic surgeries but I don't know any doctors that would do it for free advertisement. lol I know it is very serious but if I look this good (losing back to where I was) I would like for it to look good too. My boobs are a biggie. I've had big boobs since I was in the 5th grade so these pancakes are killing me. I mean I'm just devastated. Next is the tummy, legs, and arms. Oh yeah another biggie is my face! When I was almost 300 pounds I had beautiful skin and no wrinkles to speak of. At my goal weight I looked like I was a grandma! An OLD grandma! So, I don't know which is most important - I think the face, then the boobs, then the stomach, then the legs, then the arms....no hope for the butt. My luck it would turn out looking like a tidal wave. Think I'll just come up with something that works and become a millionaire. What do ya' think? rofl The app I was talking about I think it was for notes and exercise...I don't remember. It looked a lot like this but more like exercise on the front. I think it was kinda like a food/exercise diary. Anyway, it was different and I loved it with this. I had it on my phone but something happened that upset me really bad and my hands were shaking and I couldn't remember my code on my phone so it went back to factory settings. If I find it, I'll let you know. Thanks so much, good to hear from you and I appreciate you more than I can say. Hope to continue this new friendship, Have a great one... Marsha -
flat butt blues - shapewear recommendations?
peytonplace replied to CowgirlJane's topic in The Gals' Room
Well girl, I'm going to try this again. I had a reply started and I guess it got possessed because it went to the wild blue yonder somewhere. Anyway, I was saying I know how you feel and I have a problem also. My DDD's went to pancakes and my hiney went to, well... I'm not sure where it went but the boobies are definitely pancakes. @@@:-( Anyway, thought ok, I'll go to Spanx website and ordered me a pair of "bootie panties". I was so excited when they got here I just didn't know what to do. I ripped my clothes off so fast even MY head was spinning! I just couldn't wait to turn around and look at my nice bootie in the mirror. Girlfriend....when I looked in the mirror it looked like I didn't even have a pimple on my butt! I was so disappointed! I've had all kinds of thoughts about giving my extra skin to the burn hospital for burn patients if another doctor would do something to give me a butt. I envisioned an implant like you see these crazy people who have implants put in to look demon-like. Weird cheeks, shoulders, etc. You get my drift. Anyway, started researching surgery to give you a butt and it said it is a really hard surgery and most of the time they didn't turn out with good results. The things I read said it would most likely (from their experience with it) turn out so bad and uneven that you would regret having the surgery. So...guess I just have to do like I do when I have a bad hair day...I don't look at the back and I just act like it looks as good as the front does. So, that's what I'm going to do. Now, I have gained 50 pounds just out of the blue - I retired in Feb. last year, so I have been home but we have traveled most of the time seeing grandchildren. They are all spread out - some in DC, some in SC, some in FL, and some in Seattle. We have nine all together. So, before we hit the road again I am trying to get firmly rooted in a routine so I can get back on track. I am so miserable and unhappy with the way I look I have got to get started here. I am going to try to go on liquids the first week and then go to soft liquids, then to pureed food just like I did when I first got home from my surgery. I figured that way, my stomach would shrink if I have it all out of whack, and I would eat a lot less and not binge on sweets. I did write down all I ate today with the breakdown for everything so that is hopeful for me. I realize I have gotten off into my life story here so I will shut up. I don't know if I said anything or not, but I had another app on my phone that I liked to use with bariatric pal; the app icon looked similar to bariatric pal but I can't remember what it is called. If you know what I'm talking about, please let me know. I appreciate you so much for all your help. You've helped me immensely. Thank you so much, Marsha -

40 pounds to go and I'm stuck.
peytonplace replied to psharpe's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Glad to hear back from you. I, like you, am glad to have someone to talk to who is struggling too. I'm hoping we can encourage each other and I feel if I have to "answer" to someone every week, it will help me to stay on track. Will hate to say I haven't lost anything this week or I gained something. I feel this will make me stronger. I have always liked sweets but not just crave them like I'm doing now. I could be happy just eatting something yummy and gooey. Just have to be strong and at least get back on track. Will keep in touch! Well we must be kin somewhere down the line cause we seem to want the same things. lol Well have to go check on supper. Still have to cook for my two boys...husband and son.Talk to you soon, Marsha -

Well, I'm no expert, but I do know if I don't track everything like I am supposed to, it is soooooo easy for me to have too many carbs. I ride a recumbent bike at night while I watch tv. It makes it real easy to do an hour (one program on tv) when I do it this way. Sometimes I take a rest for 30 minutes and do another hour. You don't have to do this every day, just 3 times a week. Other times I watch tv and use my bar bells while I'm watching tv or just during the commercials. Since it doesn't hurt me to walk since I've lost this weight, I do walk alot more. I'm not a runner but I love to walk. Sometimes I just go to the mall and take my time walking through it. Watch your carbs, drink plenty of water or mio. I go back and forth when I get tired of water I drink Mio. Hope something I have said will help you out. This happens to most people when they are losing weight. We just have to truly remember this is the way we have to eat forthe rest of our lives, as bad as I hate to, I have to make myself write everything down, what I eat, drink, exercize, weight, and my blood pressure and heart rate every day. Staying with a routine is the trick. I have 30 to lose and it's real hard for me too, but I had gotten lax on keeping up with everything so I'm right here with you my friend. Sticking to it every day - most of the time, it is minute by minute because I have, fior whatever reason been eating sweete like I'm a toothpick or somethiing. I'm NOT giving up on what I've accomplished - I WILL get this last 30 off! Will try to keep in touch. Maybe you can say something to me to help me with my struggles. WE CAN DO THIS! ill -
Join the protein shake potluck...share your favorites!
peytonplace replied to disneydreamer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used the Body by Vi protein shakes and used 1% milk and sugar free jello puddings. I would add ice about three quarters of the way of the individual blender shaker, put about 2 tablespoons of the pudding and the 2 scoops of the protein mix (which is flavored vanilla and tastes good by itself). Blend until it is the consistency of a shake. It is REALLY good and you have the opiton to have so many flavors that it doesn't get boring. I still have those every once in awhile. It is hard to drink all of it, so I save the rest for an afternoon or evening snack. Give it a try, it is really good and most of all filling, while also helping with your sweet tooth. You feel kind of like you're cheating - having a malt or shake that really isn't one but tasts like one! I hope you enjoy! PeytonPlace -
These sound pretty good. I am pretty much on a maintenance but these would still be good for a change. I forgot to tell where I had my surgery so I'll do that now. I had mine at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas on 3/15/13. (I think) I had to send a text to my daughter to find out. As you will notice, I am not good with time and dates. I had the gastric sleeve and have been REALLY happy with this choice. The day I came home from the hospital, I didn't even need not one pain pill. I wish the "not being hungry" that lasts for about three months, would last all the time. But I mostly stick with it really well. I do have something I'm not supposed to have that I really love and miss from time to time. I just ride the bike longer. lol I look forward to more recipes! Thanks for sharing! PeytonPlace

Hello, my name is PeytonPlace. I had my gastric sleeve on March 15, 2013. By the first year I had lost 142 pounds. I have now lost 8 more pounds which is about what I want to be. I stay between 140 to 150 but want to lose down to 140#'s. I haven't had the support I need as far as figuring how much carbs, sugar, and Proteins, and calories, I should achieve each day to maintain or lose the last few pounds. I would also like ideas on what to eat as I have lived on Life Choice products pretty much the last 2 years. They have Protein bars, very good and a good amount of protein. The ones I purchase have between 19 and 21. They also have what I call chips and sweet Snacks. They are round or oblong shaped "puffs" flavored white cheddar, garlic herb, brown sugar cinnamon. These are the ones I eat. I also have the veggie straws. They have different flavors also, the apple cinnamon, ranch, cheese. I eat Revs or premade salads from Wal Mart for lunch. For supper I eat baked or broiled meats, green vegetables, cheese sticks, and Dannon light and fit yogurt. I'm sure there are alot more things I can have. If someone could give me some sites to look at and get some suggestions, menus, recipes, etc. I would greatly appreciate it. I ride a recumbant bike but not on a regular schedule. I recently got a stair stepper I guess that is what it is called. The handle bars move back and forth and of course the feet are set to have the tension you need and can change and adjust as you get stronger. I just retired, actually, next Friday, the 27th is my last day and I don't want to eat out of boredom. Since I love food I think about it alot but when I was at work, I naturally couldn't eat or get hungry like I do when I am home all day. Well, I didn't mean to write a book, just need a little help and look forward to have some new friends to chat with. Hope to hear from some of you soon! I will see if have a before and after pic to post. Thanks for all your help and support, I know you will be here for me as I will be for you in any way I can. I appreciate all of you and am so proud of you for all the progress you have made!

How do you get your protein in a day
peytonplace replied to mitz's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Some good ideas for me. I have got to get a program to help me keep track of everything on one page. I have not been faithful about that since I have been eating solid foods. I had my surgery on (gastric sleeve) on March 15th and I have lost 95 pounds. Part of that was due to the 6 months of dieting before the surgery. I have got to start a REGULAR exercise program with people that can assist with my ( and most of us) "problem areas. I appreciate the forum and all the help I can get. -
