3rd day of pre-op liquid diet...and I ate grilled chicken at a baby shower sit down dinner. I didn't eat anything else, including the cake pops. Still went down another pound yesterday. I've been reading about a lot of complications lately and started getting a little freaked out. One of the grandmothers at the shower told me she had gastric bypass and that I was making a good informed decision. I feel like God put her in my path to calm me down.

ANY SINGLE INCISION SLEEVER'S?
ShrinkyDinkMe101 replied to newmeby50's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'm having single incision surgery August 6th in Houston with Dr. Sherman Yu. i couldn't find a doctor in Oklahoma who does this procedure, so I'm having to travel out of state in order to get it. I'm hoping to have some "pretty" skin left for a tummy tuck afterward -

Yes, I live in Tulsa. I haven't had surgery yet. I'm scheduled for August 6th with Sherman Yu in Houston. He does single incision surgery through your belly button. I couldn't find anyone around here who does that. I'm looking for a local surgery buddy because I don't know anyone who has had gastric sleeve. You can send me a private message if you're interested. -

The doubting game begins :/
ShrinkyDinkMe101 replied to Bethzy143's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it's natural to have doubts and fears. I've only got a 3 1/2 week window between my initial consultation and surgery. I am confident in my surgeon, but am very scared of complications, failure and death. Now that I've started my pre-op diet, I've started second guessing myself thinking that I might be able to do this on my own. I've never been successful in keeping weight off before, though. I am praying that everything goes perfectly and trying my best to do exactly what the surgeon says. -
Preop diet starts today!

If you watch TV, the DVR is your friend. Just fast forward through the commercials. I am drinking lots of water, having a shake when I get hungry (4 a day), and having a cup of chicken or beef broth at lunch and dinner. I can have a sugar free Popsicle or sugar free jello if I want something sweet besides a shake. The key is keeping busy. And working your way through the headache. I gave up sugar and caffeine before the diet and still got a headache yesterday! -
3rd Day of Pre-Op diet
ShrinkyDinkMe101 replied to vinniej3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm allowed chicken & beef broth...there's 5-10 calories in a cup, no carbs. Counts as a clear liquid. -
I was told mymorocedure will last 45 mins to an hour. I'm having single incision through the belly button, though.

That's a bummer! It's interesting to see who is allowed what. Hope you have a better day today. Did you get the bad storms we had last night? Part of our neighbor's fence blew down!

I looked at the stats on the Carnation Breakfast Essentials...you're probably starving to death if they are just mixed with Water (60 cal, 12 carb, 5 pro). The point of this diet is to put yourself into ketosis through high protein/low carb. That's what is going to shrink your liver. I'm mainly using the EAS AdvantEDGE Carb Control drinks from Walmart (110 cal, 6 carb, 17 pro). I also ordered Celebrate Vitamins ENS packets. I tried the Cake Batter one yesterday and it was pretty good (140 cal, 9 carb, 25 pro). The Fruit Punch Protein I tried yesterday was yucky, but had a LOT of protein. The protein will keep you from feeling hungry.

Who's ready for day two of the pre-op diet? Yesterday was much better than I imagined. I just need to keep busier. My family ended up eating fish (hate it) and veggies from the grocery store food bar for dinner, so I didn't have to make it.

Amazing! You look so good and I absolutely love your dress! -
No, just regular broth. I should be getting enough protein from the sweet shakes.

Shrimp remoulade is low carb. You could have that, wait and enjoy iced tea afterward because it will be HOT this time of year . Red beans & no rice. Fish. Po-boy innards (no bread). Have fun! -
Endoscopy and Psych evaluation done...I guess this is really going to happen! I just guzzled down a fruit punch protein drink and it was absolutely disgusting! I'm rewarding myself for getting it down with some chicken broth. I gave up sugar and caffeine last week, so no headache so far.
-
I started the liquid diet today too. I'm allowed low carb protein shakes, broth, sugar free jello, crystal light, sugar free Popsicles, decaf tea & lots of water. I plan on freezing some of my shakes in an ice cream maker in order to have more things to "eat". My husband and I went out last night for a last meal of guacamole, tortilla soup (without tortillas) and a cheese enchilada. I've been doing low carb this past week. My psych evaluation is today. Not sure if this was the best day to do it, lol! But it was the only appointment available before the 6th!

Anyone else getting sleeved in August?
ShrinkyDinkMe101 replied to Living4Me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Endoscopy done...everything looks good! Start my two week liquid diet and have Psych eval tomorrow. Can't decide if I want to have something yummy (carby) for my last pre-surgery meal or just stick to low carb the way I've been doing since approval. I want to lose as much weight as possible before surgery, so I guess I know what my answer is... -
Pre-op Liquid Diet: Sugar Free Torani Syrup O.K.? Spices?
ShrinkyDinkMe101 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Getting ready to start my two week pre-op liquid diet on Tuesday. Would it be ok to use sugar free Torani syrups to flavor the protein shakes? What about spices like cinnamon? Also, would protein ice cream (just the shakes frozen in an ice cream maker) be acceptable? -

Just getting started - Surgery in 3 weeks!
ShrinkyDinkMe101 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Long time lurker here! I had my first consultation with my surgeon, Dr. Yu, last Thursday and my surgery is scheduled for August 6th. I live in Oklahoma, but am traveling to Houston in order to have the single incision (belly button) surgery. I've started back on the Medifast foods I had left over from my last failed dieting attempt this spring and will do a two week liquid diet before surgery. Most of my family and friends are on board with my decision to have the gastric sleeve. My husband, a physician, is not happy about it. He thinks I should buckle down, eat paleo and do cross fit. He's also said that I will probably put the weight back on....grrrrr! I'm excited/nervous/scared about the changes this surgery will bring. I enjoy playing tennis, antique/junk "treasure hunting" & traveling and am looking forward to living life without carrying around an extra person on my back!
