Felt my first restriction yesterday. We were traveling home and had some very thick broccoli and cheese soup at Jason's Deli. I had several bites then a slight wave of nausea hit. I stopped immediately, and after that I started to feel like I had eaten a three course meal! Amazing! I haven't had any physical hunger since surgery, but hadn't felt any restriction on liquids either.

frustrated and venting...

That's a lot to handle on very little sleep even when you are not recovering from surgery. I hope things become more peaceful for you! -
Had my post-op appointment today. I am down 10 pounds since surgery on the 6th! And I'm not in the Morbidly Obese category on the BMI chart anymore! Finally heading home from Houston tomorrow

I had horrible nausea the first night! Walk if you can for the gas. I'm a week out and feel pretty normal (but no physical hunger!). -
That's great! We had lunch at a friend's house yesterday. I'm missing the taste of savory foods! My friends know about the surgery and I wasn't hungry, so it wasn't a big deal. They had a cheese ball though, and I love sharp cheese. I can't wait to have cheese again. I ended up stopping at a grocery store on the way home and got a jar of olives to suck on (and spit out for now). I may have to experiment with adding savory sauces to my yogurt. Too many sweet protein shakes!

Good luck and well wishes returning to the real world! -
I'm on full liquids day 3-14. It's basically 4 oz of liquid protein/hr, then 4-8 oz full liquid/hr....every hour from 8 am to 8 pm. I'm just trying to get two 8 oz shakes in and whatever liquids I can. I am not loving the shakes right now. Went to go see Elysium this afternoon....everybody had a snack but me. Beforehand, I had some Panera French onion soup no cheese or crouton and strained out just the broth. It actually tasted pretty nasty. I found myself longing to eat a turkey sandwich . I had a bottle of water at the movie. Not hungry, but food is starting to look good again.

A heating pad has also been helpful with back pain. I'm going to try moving more today.

. So sorry you feel badly. The swelling will eventually go down and in the hospital you will get IV fluids to stay hydrated. Hang in there! -

Lukewarm water and G2 go down easiest for me. The protein shakes I have "froth" when I mix them and I DO NOT need any extra air in my tummy! I'm not doing pain meds and I'm sore. Haven't had a BM since the morning of surgery. Wondering when I should break out the MOM. -
Sorry you're feeling so bad. I can't tolerate the liquid Lortab either. Try some Gatorade G2? I'm not taking any pain meds and thought I would not be this sore. I ended up having a hernia repair at the same time, so maybe that's what is bothering me. I didn't get in enough protein today, but will try again tomorrow.

I'm supposed to have 48-64 oz fluids & 45-80 grams protein. For me that means at least 16 oz protein drink and 32 oz water. No more than 8 oz per hour. I've gotten in almost half of my requirements by mid day, but I've been sipping constantly since I woke up. I want to take a nap, but worried about staying hydrated.

Two Days out of Surgery, and here's my experience...
ShrinkyDinkMe101 commented on PGee's blog entry in Patty's WLS Blog
Way to go! I'm having trouble gauging how frequently to take tiny sips. A lot of them get "stuck". I'm also glad to be untethered from the IV pole! -
How's everyone doing? I'm trying to start the protein shakes again today...massive gurgling & burping! Pretty sore. I guess whatever they gave me in the hospital has worn off. I hate pain meds, so I will just tough it out. Last night was the first out of the hospital & I slept really well. How much should we be walking?

Surgery complete, but my white cell count is up. So I get to stay another night at the hospital. Dr thinks it's because of a steroid they used to stop nausea. I was dry heaving all night. Feel much better today. Please pray this doesn't turn out to be a leak. -
Today is my day for gastric sleeve...I feel nauseous BEFORE I have surgery, lol! Any prayers would be appreciated. Thank you to this community for being a wealth of information and support.

Good luck everyone! I am nervous!

I'll be going in for surgery at 8. I'll be praying this evening for wonderful outcomes for all of us! My Dr. Is going abroad on Wednesday, so guess who gets to pay for another 3 nights on top of the week I was prepared for in a hotel until he comes back? Annoying...

Heading out...last time I drove down to Houston a car in front of me kicked up a huge piece of metal mesh and it ripped out my wheel well liner. I'm hoping I have better luck this time.

Wow! You look great! Love the white top!

Where is everybody today?

I'm planning on a last run to Walmart to pick up a few things to take with me that I don't already have around the house. I'll be staying for a week afterward in a hotel suite with a kitchenette. Here's my packing list (for out of town surgery): Nightgowns, T-shirt Dresses, Slip-on Sandals, Sports Bras/Low Cut Panties, Pillow, Heating Pad, Extension Cord, Thermometer, Earplugs, Toiletries Bag w/Toothbrush, Chapstick, Lotion, Facial Wipes, Gas X Strips, Sugar Free Hard Candy, Clear Liquids, Full Liquids, Shaker Bottles, Strainer (for soup), Demitasse Spoon, Cooler (for the car trip), Dish Soap, Vitamins, Coffee Stirrers (to use as a mini straw), Nook, iPad, Phone & their chargers, Laundry Basket with Detergent Pods, Softener Sheets & Color Catcher Sheets, and my paperwork for testing I had done in my hometown. I'm also thinking of some small board games & puzzles. Any thoughts? Am I missing anything I might need in the first week away from home?
