Attention ! Australian Sleevers

Hi everyone how are you all? I started my pre op diet on Monday doing well so far!! Getting excited that my op is so close! I can't believe its actually here, I've waited over 12months for this and it's finally here!! Woohoo!! Question, can I have lean meat like fish or grilled chicken in my pre op diet? I totally forgot to ask my dietitian, she didn't mention it and the booklet the surgeons office gave me says nothing about it.. I'm assuming the answer is no.. So far I've had protein shake (optifast) for breakfast lunch and dinner. With 1 cup of salad with my lunch shake and 1 cup of vegetable with my dinner shake! If I get hungry after dinner I'll have a little sugar free jelly!! But I'm really craving meat! Thanks for your help in advance guys -

Hi thank you for offering your help with any questions I may have! It's so nice to have this forum to ask questions from others that have/are going through the same thing! I am also in a health fund and only using my super to cover out of pocket expenses. At the time of posting my question, I hadn't spoken to anyone about the super release. Today, I did. I'm not so worried anymore. I spoke to a lady from department of human services today, she answer all my questions and eased my mind, she assured me that I wouldn't have a problem if I filled in the paperwork correctly and supplied all relevant documents! Although, if I do have any further questions, ill be sure to message you thanks again! -

Thanks Liss I actually phoned the department of human services today, the lady I spoke to was very helpful, I was worried I wouldn't be approved, but she assured me that, that wouldn't be the case if I filled out the paperwork correctly and supplied them with all the relevant documents! I'm not worried about that anymore, which is good! She eased my mind in that department! I had this idea that it would be extremely difficult, thank goodness it's not -

Hi everyone a quick question, who used their superannuation to fund their surgery?? I'm planning on using some of mine and I'm currently waiting on my surgeons letter to arrive so I can send off my application. Did anyone have any troubles? And does anyone have any recommendations to make the process easier??, if I don't get approved I can't have my surgery! Fingers crossed hey -

Hi everyone My name is Nikki, I'm 24yrs old (25 on Tuesday 16/7) I'm 114kg. I live in Wollongong I'm new to this forum and I'm so happy to have found it, already you guys have answered many of my questions and I was even more excited to see a thread just for us Aussies!! I'm 4months away from my surgery date 8/11/13 I have chosen Dr Talbot to perform my surgery, due to the convenience of being able to consult with him here in Wollongong. He operates in st. George private (Sydney) and consults with his patients in sydney and comes to Wollongong once a fortnight for consults also. Has anyone else here been sleeved by Dr Talbot? I'm so excited to do this but at the same time I'm so scared. The other day dr Talbot asked me what my fears were! My reply to his question was, death! That's it, I'm honestly scared shitless that I'm going to die is this a normal fear? Is it my conscience telling me something? I just want to feel 'normal' again to feel happy and healthy! I suffer from POCS and am doing this for my fertility, and my overall health (physical & mental) I just hope I'm doing the right thing. I have been planning this surgery for way over 12 months now, and I gone through stages where I'm totally set on doing this and then other stages where I think I'm doing the wrong thing! I guess that is normal when I've had so much time to think about it.. It just sucks that I couldn't loose the weight myself, I've tried everything, I just hope this works for me!! -

Hi. I'm currently booked in to have my surgery in November 2013 with Dr Talbot. Who else out there was operated on by Dr Talbot. What was your experience? How is everything going with you post op? And if your like me and yet to be sleeved, what are your thoughts? How are you feeling?
