How to work around not telling everyone about VSG?!
mylero replied to jessicaanders29's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally, the only person that knows about my surgery is my husband. My mother nor children know. I didn't want to hear speeches or make small talk around it. My mind was made up. I have told people that I had a hernia repaired. That would help to explain the stomach pain and loss of appetite. They go' oh ok then'....end of conversation. Sent from my i-tab using VST -
Lansoprazole and Other Medications
mylero replied to LaManche's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cut them in half and take them with applesauce or pudding. I still take liquid hydrocodone for pain. Sent from my i-tab using VST -
Anyone else has a gas pain everytime the drink something?
mylero replied to chass003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc says that you have to swallow in small doses. That should help. Sent from my i-tab using VST -
I am three wks out and understand exactly how you feel. I went thru the "why did I do this" and thought that I made the biggest mistake but when I look at the scale and my clothes are fitting loosely, it all comes together. It is normal to feel the way you do......its just emotions. But believe me when I tell you that it WILL pass. You will look back and be amazed at how far you've come in such a short amount of time. I was 274 going into surgery on 7/29 and now I am 7 days post op and weigh in at 258. Is this the normal rate? Still not getting my full protein in but I do have an appetite. I am on full liquids/stage 1 baby foods. Anyone else experience a loss like that or is it because it is the first week?

I also had surgery on the 29th and asking myself WTH did I do? I'm down 11lbs, no appetite, barely getting in protein, and the bathroom is my new best friend. The only meds I am taking are my liquid hydocodone and promethazine. Like everyone else said, the sf popsicles are great as you need hydration. The protien will come. You don't want to be in the hospital. I take small 1-2 hr naps and its ok. Don't worry about the weight. Are you in a rush? It will come off in due time. Afterwhile, we will both look back at this and laugh. Take care!

We're you ever thin before surgery?
mylero replied to Reigo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was thin even after my kids, 5'8 150-160. Diagnosed with PCOS and the weight followed after. At age 30 I weighed 180. If I can get back to that, I will be most pleased. -
Surgery was fine on Monday. Last night I was in a lot of pain even with the pain pump and ball. Today is much better. Should go home today. Hoping that everybody that was scheduled for Monday is doing very well.

Too "small" for surgery?
mylero replied to bettyboo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am also a 40 BMI with family history of all the co- morbids. I was approaching that same fate. I tried diets, pills, training but nothing stuck. Do it for YOUR health....not what others think. -
Labs and tests complete
mylero replied to LeaMarie617's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes its easier to lose when your BMI is higher. I have lost 6lbs and I am on day 4 of my two week pre-op diet. I started in May and got appoved in July. I only had to have 3 visits with my NUT and 2 surgeon consults. All tests and labs done in between. Scheduled for July 29th. They prob won't submit till you are close to your last NUT visit. At least mines didn't. -

Pre op diet start Monday
mylero replied to FRED1977's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello...I also am scheduled for July 29th. I start my pre op liquid diet tmrw and I think I am ready. Nervous, but ready. Good luck to us all! -
Greetings from Fort Woth TX...My hubby doesn't want me to have the surgery, but he just doesn't understand how difficult it is to lose weight with MANY failed diets. I am 5`8...280 and pre diabetic and have PCOS. I started seeing my surgeon in May and will be sleeved on July 29. Whether or not I have support doesn't matter. In the end, my health does. Do what's best for you!
