  3. I was totally sure last week I wouldn't make the 20 minute run but somehow I did. You can do it just don't think about it too much and keep going! I did week 6, day 2 today the ten minute runs - not too bad. I really look forward to runnng now - what kind of sick person am I?! Next run is the 25 minute run and then on to week 7! Yikes. Good luck everyone.

    First Bite Syndrome

    Thanks for your answers guys. I don't think first bite syndrome is being full after just one bite - I think it is feeling some pain after the first bite or two that goes away after a few minutes. Can anyone shed some light on this?

  10. I think it just depends on how your weight is distributed and how much muscle you have. Muscle is heavier and takes up less space than fat.

    Runny Nose

    I dont know if I am a too tight. I feel ok - I have pb'ed or slimed and the only thing I really have a prob with is sushi rice. I have had the occasional first bite syndrome type of thing but not every meal and I am able to eat solids.

    My nose starts running the second I start eating after my most recent fill. I don't think it is a soft stop because it happens almost after the first bite - what do you make of that? Anyone else have that issue?

    Sushi

    I just tried sush for the second time since my fill on 11/16 - extremely painful. This has been virtually the only food I absolutely cannot eat - the sticky rice is just too sticky. I had to try it again though because it is my absolute favorite food. This is a sad day. I am sure I will try again! (stubborn)

    I dont care for the show because the administrator guy is adamantly opposed to WLS and campaigns against patients having it. There was one episode where he explained his reasoning and was like "it just seems unatural to me."

    Deciding

    I would go with the absolute top person and the best hospital in your area as long as you feel comfortable with that person. That said, if you have a choice of serveral people in your area I would go with the one that is most convenient to you or your life. I chose my doctor among many doctors because he is at a hospital where all my other doctors are affiliated - so I had visitors in the hospital! (I didn's choose because of the visiting factor really)!

    Hi, I am almost 4 months out and down almost 45lbs. How long did you guys take to start dating after surgery. I was thinking of waitign 6 months but now i am starting to get lonely! I know that I need the time to myself to adjust to my new lifestyle. What do you guys think?
  18. I was fitted at a bra specialty shop called the Town Shop on the upper west side in Manhattan. They didn't measure me but eyeballed me and had me try on a bunch of the same bra in different sizes. I was so suprised by the size they even called in another fitter for a second opinion!
  19. and yes, I was tired since I did week 5, day 3 yesterday. I didn't feel like I was tired in an endurance kind of way but more that my legs were just plain tired. Oh well! Learned my lesson.

    Why do I dislike myself more now?

    I understand how you feel. I "feel" like I weigh 140lbs now but in truth I am about 60 from that now and it shows in the pictures I saw from thanksgiving and in the mirror. Also, when I see myself without clothing I feel like I look even worse with hanging skin. I know in my heart that I look much better now but I don't feel it 100% yet. I think it goes to what Jack says about not seeing himself the way he was before - I always thought I was sexy - some sort of delusion and did not see myself as fat as I was in the mirror. Now when people get excited over my loss I HATE it because it reminds me of how bad I was before.
  21. I actually want to start week 6 tomorrow - particularly if it is easier. I know I should really rest its just that weekends are so much easier to fit running in and I have spinning on Mon and Weds. JMcambra - you could totally do this. I have to say that I really really did not think it was possible but if you are injured spinning class is really great too isn't it? Look at me so enthousiastic about exercise! Whos - It is so weird after 5 minutes it stops being hard - I guess it is the endorphins. Such a great feeling.
  22. I had my third fill on 11/16 and was totally freaked out for a while - only wednesday was I able to start eating relatively comfortably again. I realize that while I am tight, I am not too tight. This is what I have been doing - take a bite, chew, chew chew and then wait a minute or two before the next bite. I always have some discomfort - I think they call it first bite syndrome. If it is really really painful you may be too tight . I also find that it helps to take a big breath and hold it for as long as I can and that helps that first bite to pass if it hurts. I have also noticed that fish works much better for me. If you are drinking liquids I don't think it is a medical emergency but if you aren't able to eat solids I think the band is defeated. Good luck and keep us updated.
  23. Don't you think that the military doctor's could contact your surgeon if there is a problem? Maybe your doctor could write down some information for you to take with you in case you need it.
  24. I would be at my first goal of 158 if I lost 100 lbs in the next 8 months. I actually kind of think I can do it even if my weight loss slows down considerably - that would mean 56 more lbs in a little over 8 months and that means I only need to lose 7lbs a month and I have been averaging around 10 so even if have a big slow down I am hoping to be close to my first goal by then. As I am writing this I see myself next August sadly reviewing the post!
  25. So excited - I DID the 20 minute run!!!! I cannot believe it since 4 months ago WALKING 20 minutes would have been exhausting to me!!! Can't wait for next week! Plus - particularly exciting that I made it the enitire distance around the bridal path in central park - I will have to check how far that is.
