Stapled, Stitched, or Glued???
KarenG. replied to Poopsie's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had the dissolving stitches and the steri strips. -
I have to admit I was very sore after new years eve and have been sticking to spinning as a result. I am going give it a shot tomorrow as I seemed to have healed today.

Why so many fills to make the band work?
KarenG. replied to kagoscuba's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am on my 4th fill in under 5 months. I asked my surgeon today why it keeps getting loose and he said it is a combination of factors, some of the saline can evaporate, your body can adjust to the fill level and also the weight loss. Each time I am filled under fluoro I can see that the opening is very tight but it only lasts a few weeks/month. Don't be dissapointed if you need more fills and in my opinion staying on top of your fill level is key to success. Good luck! -
definately great for wl. I have been spinning about 4x a week as well so it is hard to say for sure what to attribute it to but I have been losing steadily. I am sure you can start running if you played soccer. good luck!

I have to admit I am proud of myself. I was actually PASSING PEOPLE! They were prob drinking and I was not but STILL! I will post a blurry pic of myself later. I don't usually like to post pictures but I will because this is such an awesome accomplishment for me! Thanks so much for your support guys! I owe a lot to you. Also remember if I can do it ANY OF YOU CAN TOO!

Poor you. I felt really depressed for a few weeks after the surgery. I think it causes some mild depression in some people. I felt GREAT after that though and you will too. Take care of yourself.

I f(#*@)(# did it! All four miles! It took about 48 minutes which is about a 12 minute mile. WE took only one 1-minute break at the 2 mile mark for Water. It was by FAR one of the best things I have ever done in my life. My friend's husband got pics of us running and I will try and upload tomorrow. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Things looked different didn't they? For me at least they did. I had no hope of losing weight. I was tired all the time. I was in a relationship that didn't make me happy. I was CRANKY! Now I am so much more fit. I am also hopeful about making it to goal and losing another 50lbs in 2008! Happy New Year Everyone!
-
Whos - I will be thinking of all you guys! Trying to get a pic of me running to post too! My sister has an early am flight - leaves the house at 515 - she is wondering the same thing! Be safe and Happy New Year.

KarenG. replied to Karen85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Trystelle, I have the VG band and my restriction doesn't last more than 3 weeks. I still have some restriction but it seems to fade away - is that a VG band thing? I go in for another (4th) fill on Friday and really hope that this one will last longer! -

OK guys - so nervous for my run tomorrow night! It is actually 4 miles whch is slightly more than 5K but I haven't even made it 5K yet - although I can run for 30 minutes. Wish me luck and happy new year to you all!

Hi fellow Nyers - Anyone here from NY hospital?
-
You should make it by Tuesday for sure don't you think? I am stalled at 207 and not expecting to lose much more before my fill on Friday. THis despite spinning 4-5 times a week and running! Frustrating.

JulieNYC's medial thigh lift, breast augmentation and mons lift
KarenG. replied to JulieNYC's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hi Julie - first of all you look fabulous! You must be so excited. I am sorry to hear that you are draining so much, or that you are having a slower recovery from the last surgery - remember how much your body has been through recently. You owe it to yourself to rest before you get back to rat race here in the city. My port sticks out a lot and I have barely lost 1/2 the weight that I am planning to lose. How soon did your port start sticking out? Mine gets in the way and I even saw it through a wool sweater ( a clingy wool sweater) that I tried on the other day. I am also very hour-glassy and carry most of my weight in my boobs and in my butt and hips. I did discuss it with my surgeon who said we can change it/move it when I am closer to goal. He never mentioned putting it below the muscle but that sounds like it would be super painful to fill/unfill. I am very curious to see the difference with the low-profile port. Rest up and take care of yourself! K -
Been pb'ing for an hour and a half now....
KarenG. replied to Sue Magoo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This has never happened to me but I noticed that nobody has answered you yet. I hope you are feeling better. Have you tried taking a deep breath and holding it? That sometimes helps me if I feel stuck. Good luck! -
There is no "bad" only preference! Whatever feels right to you.

Nutritionally imbalanced? Be honest
KarenG. replied to juliegeraci's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Julie - you are always such a good poster that I thought I put my thoughts in. I think it is really great that you are taking some out so that you can eat solid Protein. For one thing it is more sustainable, and also of course your health. WW is a good program but I have never tried it with the band. Good luck! -
I am fuming with my Doctor's office !!!
KarenG. replied to ivyrose325's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just realized you already answered that. You probably don't want to go all the way to upper east side for an appointment. Good luck!
