Soooo... Whad I miss?!
kwigillingok replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sounds like an awesome vacation! Glad you had a good time!! -
I'm 6 months out and still have to take a heart burn pill every morning or I'm in pain by the afternoon.

Motor Vehicles. The process for me was pretty simple. I told my primary that I wanted the surgery and she referred me, then I went to a seminar later that same month. I started the whole thing in May and had surgery in September but did have to lose 30 pounds prior to receiving a surgery date, per the surgeons orders. I only paid co-payments for my doctor appointments and paid nothing for the surgery itself since I spent the night in the hospital.

The Uncomfortable Truth....

I'm sorry about your brother, Laura. I know all to well what kind of pain that leaves for people who were left behind. My brother also took his own life twelve years ago and I've been angry with him since. I never really got to grieve for him because somebody needed to be the "strong one", and my parents (understandably) fell apart. I'm sure that as I continue to work on all my crap, I'm going to go through that grieving process. It kind of scares me, to be totally honest, I'm comfortable with anger, I know anger. Vulnerability freaks me the fucked out and makes me want to run and hide. -
I'm a state of Ca employee but I have Kaiser, not CalPers.

The Uncomfortable Truth....

Oh yeah I still work on the physical stuff every day. I eat what I'm supposed to, get my protein, and try really hard to get all my water in. The water seems to be what I struggle with most but I'm getting there :-) I am still drinking one protein drink per day which is a little annoying because I'm really sick of them, but if I didn't drink one I fall short on my protein count. -

I don't think you're more fucked than the rest LV. I don't post here a whole lot, mostly because I just don't feel like I fit in. I go to a support group once a month but keep coming back here because I feel like I need more. Have shared a couple of times before why I'm fat, and what it basically boils down to is I am fat because I don't feel like I'm worthy of being loved. I ate to stay fat so nobody would want me. I'm working on that, and it's going to be a very long hard road to get where I want to be. Losing the weight isn't going to make those feelings go away, and I've already caught myself wanting to stuff my face more than once because I've been getting emotionally closer to someone. Its rough... -

What the heck is an Omron? I must google! Ok, I googled.... how does that thing measure body fat if you're holding it in your hands?? Interesting. I have an Omron as well and those things tell the real story.....not the scale. The scale will eventually move for you, trust in that. But if the Omron is showing you progress now, you're doing it right. Keep it up. -
I also read a ton, and so do both of my kids. Another series of books that we enjoy (and I got my dad to read) was the Drizzt Do'Urden series by R. A. Salvatore. Omg I love Wheel of time! One of my employees is very active in the forum/gathering of WoT events, organizes their conferences, has set up a charity for it, etc. She got us into it. My husband has read them all, I've read about 7 of them. Game of thrones, I have to tell you, I read the first one and started the second. Then I realized that I pretty much didn't give a crap if any of those characters lived or died so I decided it was time to read something else it just didn't appeal and frankly I didn't find them well written. Before I got addicted to this forum, I used to read for 3-4 hours a day, so I'd end up reading 2-3 books a week. Right now, I'm reading Allegiant, Amy Tan's new book, and good calories, bad calories. But I spend too much time in here

Love the sookie Stackhouse series and game of thrones! I'm actually getting ready to read the game of thrones books again because I heard the next book is coming out soon (probably just wishful thinking in my part) I also enjoy the Anita Blake vampire hunter series by laurel Hamilton. Total smut, but they are fast and fun reads!

I didn't have a stall at week 3 like everyone told me I would. I am currently stalled though and have been for about a week and a half. Had a follow up appointment with my Nut on Friday and she suggested that I eat more and to drink more. I'm supposed to email her on Friday and tell her if the scale is moving for me. The whole being stuck thing is kinda frustrating but it is what it is, not gonna stress about it. Just wish it would have waited a few weeks since my 20 year reunion is at the end of next month. Would be nice to be able to buy a dress and know it will still fit when it's time to wear it! -
She's 14, and I haven't read them so don't know if that's too old or not but she has them all and loves them! Another series she likes is the Maximum Ride books by James Patterson, and he also has another series called Witch & Wizard that she likes a lot.

She said it made her cry! I haven't read it and of course she took it back to the school library before I could read it. I'll have to see if I can get it on my kindle through the local library. I will have to look for the Wool Series books, maybe I can start her on them for Christmas. Would be so much easier if the girl liked e-readers but she insists she likes reading real books. Teenagers....

I bought that book for my daughter a couple of years ago. There is a movie being made out of the story too if I'm remembering my movie previews right!
-
My daughter is sitting here (because I asked her about those other books that GG mentioned) raving about a book called The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. I agree that teen fiction is a million times better than what was available when I was a kid. I pretty much didn't bother with reading books that I was a target audience for, instead I read Stephen King and Dean Koontz. Now I'm just as quick to read one of my daughter's books as I am one of my own!

bah!

and again

Well, we've both read the books. Did it keep true to the story? Or did they take cinematic freedoms with it?

double post

Loved Firefly and Serenity!! Can watch them both on Netflix, or at least my daughter and I did.
-
I just asked my daughter if she'd heard of the Veronica Roth books and she got pretty excited saying yes LOL! Guess I'll have to borrow her books and read them myself!
-
My daughter and I are going to go see it on Thursday. I figure since I can't really eat anyway, might as well go to the movies!

When I was taking my son to meet with his recruiter a couple of summers ago I would constantly be waiting around for them to decide to show up. Most frustrating!
