  1. Gibson_girl, where do those stats regarding mortality rates with bariatric surgery come from? I've been looking for a while and it seems everyone has different numbers. 1 in 400 is extremely high.
  2. Pulmonary embolism is a risk of surgery regardless of who the physician is or where the procedure was done. So sad to hear this.

    Complication insurance

The complication insurance will not cover any complications that are taken care of in the US. It is strictly for care provided in the country the policy if issued for. Won't work for me.
  4. Anyone heard of this or had any experience with it? My insurance will not cover any complications if I am self-pay. This is the only thing keeping me from scheduling surgery.

    Complication insurance

ChaoticBliss, I will post if I find anything definite. As long as it's not against any rules

    Complication insurance

*ROSANA*, sorry, I don't think I was clear. I have medical insurance with the state. I am looking into getting the complication insurance if it's possible. Since my medical insurance won't cover and complications, I need something to cover that. I read on a forum about it and that was the first I had ever heard about it.

    Complication insurance

*ROSANA* I have insurance with the state of Texas. They will cover the surgery only if I have monthly visits for 12 months with my physician, a psych consult, a few other restrictions I can't remember right now, plus, I have to pay $5000 up front and the insurance will only cover $13000 of any expense incurred. The policy also states it will not cover any complications from a self-pay procedure. With my co-morbidities, I really need this done sooner than that. I heard of complication insurance on a forum so I've been looking into it.
  9. Thanks KatlnFl for your response. Sounds like what I've been trying to do. I have noticed the difference in the names. Did you check out the hospital?
  10. I am looking for reliable information regarding physicians in Mexico. What I am finding is patient reviews or the physicians' websites. Would appreciate any help with this.
  11. Thanks Pantala! Will do.
  12. How do you check the credentials of a physician in Mexico? I have been researching and am not coming up with information. Is it even possible? How many of you have had VSG in Mexico?
