5'9 women what was your goal weight?
luckypants replied to Thinkingthinner1109's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi! I am also 5'9" and currently weight 146lbs. My goal weight was 168lbs but continued to lose easily. At this weight lots of people comment that I am too skinny compared to when I weighed 160lbs. But whatever! I like this weight and I am of picture perfect health and wear a size 8. So I am content...I would also be content if I loosen up the reigns of my "diet" and did go back up to 160lbs and a size 10. -
For breakfast I have a premier protein shake with a tbsp of PB2. Lunch is 3oz of meat with asparagus, mushrooms or onions and supper is the same. I try not to snack but if I get snacky I will go for almonds or pickles or cheese
-
I had to limit my carb intake drastically, Not including veggies. So basically no bread, pasta, potatoes, or sugar.

I started my preop diet weighing 384 lbs in August of 2013, went for Gastric Sleeve Surgery in mexico in September of 2013. As of July 2014 I had lost 238lbs. I am now holding steady at 147lbs!!! It can be done with the sleeve! Just follow your doctor's orders

Oh my god! Greatest thread ever! Heck no I wouldn't trade being fat again for no "snow-woman skin that looks like it's melting off of my body" would rather have all of my loose skin then the disgusting round belly and fat face and bum and enormous boobs that I was carrying before. Not to mention the billions of medications I was on, not to mention couldn't walk five steps without being totally out of breath, not to mention having total sweat stains in the middle of friggen winter...IN CANADA....not to mention all of the rude arse people and their looks and ignorance. Nah I wouldn't trade being healthy AND HAPPY for any amount! Love this saggy body. My doc told me to view my body as a reminder-just like mothers and their stretch marks from carrying their babies-just like war veterans(yes compared my body to a war veteran) WEAR YOUR SKIN WITH PRIDE! And maybe a lil bit of spanx just focus on the good and deal with the bad.

Listen to your doctor and your body and yourself. Forget everyone else. I still don't understand how people think they have the right to comment on your body? It's yours and yours alone. As long as you are healthy!! I am getting those kind of comments now. I was 384lbs and am now down to 168lbs in 10 months and feeling wonderful. This is my goal weight but if my body choses to lose more who am I to judge it? As long as I am eating healthy. Buuuut noooooooo my inlaws particularly my mother in law who is always telling me I look anorexic and sunken. I just tell them wow I can only imagine what you said behind my back when I was morbidly obese! That seems to shut them up
-
Oh my gawd! They are like a candy bAr in my house. I have to keep them in my freezer in the garage. They are an excellent alternative to a protein shake or a meal on the go, but one that I sure could over indulge on that's for sure.

Those who took over two years to get sleeved
luckypants replied to greensleeve's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I got a bank loan. Paying it off in 5 years! I wanted it so I did it and my mexico experience was wonderful and uneventful! My surgery was done at the INT Hospital which is super clean and had wonderful staff! My coordinator Debra handled everything! It was a crazy and fun experience! And I would do it again in a heart beat!! Just do your research! Someone my husband works with went through this in march of 2013 so I had a pretty good feeling after I had researched other surgeons...I knew dr ponce was the one for me and knowing someone personally who went the same route just validated it! I was scared poopless leading up to the whole day, don't get me wrong, but after I I crossed the border and actually settled into the hospital room and talked to the surgery team I felt so much better! -
Those who took over two years to get sleeved
luckypants replied to greensleeve's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hang in there! I waited six years! I too live in Canada. And EVERYTIME I applied for the first 5 years I was told I didn't meet their program criteria because I was too fat...does that even make sense? So after five years of rejection and diets and fad diets and exercise regimes, I started the research on medical tourism. My family doctor was impressed with my research but she accepted my decision on going to tiajuana to get sleeved by Dr. Ponce de Leon. But she made me promise that we would try Canada one more time and I said sure whoever is first wins. So I contacted weight no more consulting out of Saskatoon sk, got accepted as a patient and got my surgery date of September 9, 2013...I called on June 18, 2013. And I could have gotten in sooner but the surgeons wanted to give me a couple months to shrink my liver as my starting weight was 384lbs. And low and behold not a week later I got my acceptance letter for to enter the bariatric clinic of Winnipeg. It would only be a 1.5-2 year wait for my surgeons consult. HAHAHA! I said forget it, flew to tiajuana and had my surgery on sept9 as planned. Now 4 months later I am down 134lbs and a million sizes and couldn't be happier! I had the fastest painless recovery ever. I am $12000 poorer mind you, but incredibly thankful. (Sorry for the long story) so be patient, explore all of your options and fight for what you want! -
Sleeved sept 9, 2013 Starting weight 380lbs Current weight 261lbs Christmas was the worst! I stuck to my surgeons rules, but all of my inlaws kept on my arse saying things like "it's Christmas! You have to have something!" "It's Christmas! You have to have a drink!" "It's Christmas! Enjoy!" I FINALLY STOOD UP ON MY CHAIR AND SAID "I need everyone to listen to my words! I PAID $12000, had surgery in Mexico TO FIX WHAT I HAVE BEEN DESTROYING FOR THE LAST 10 years!!!" I think I hurt their feelings. But for the last 10 years they have been sitting there judging me and treating me horribly for gaining almost 180lbs. REALLY PEOPLE!!?? Anyway! CONGRATS to you people for losing and wish you many great successes!!!!!

Tastes Of Food? Better Or Worse?
luckypants replied to Borders3's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I am the same way! Used to love tuna, salmon, basically all fish now one little smell of it and I gag! Chicken will make me cringe but I force myself because it is so high in protein and you can do soo much with it! -
All SEPTEMBER 2013 SLEEVERS..Check in here!
luckypants replied to Heather M's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all, sleeved 09/09/13 Starting weight: 384lbs Current weight: 284lbs Lots of heartburn which I've never had before in my life , but other then that it's a wonderful sleeved life -
Hi there all! I was sleeved on 9/9/13 and including preop weight loss I have lost a total of 95 lbs. for the past two months all I have been doing for exercise is water aerobics twice a week and walking. But I have noticed the the skin is really starting to sag I want to start toning by lifting weights but I have heard it slows the weight loss. And I am only getting in about 560cal a day all protein(70/80g protein a day) and that is all I can handle while getting in all my water(65-80oz/day). Now my question is this: will I continue to lose weight if I start lifting weights or will my body think I am starving and try to hold on to it?
