I'm on pre-op diet of liquids - day 3 - and I go a lot....it's all liquid (sorry for the TMI) but I am going.
-
My pre-op diet is to habe 3-5 Protein shakes a day and to get in 700-900 calories. I am also allowed to strain Soup but I made sure to choose the lowest carb soup that I could stand. Just having some thing that wasn't sweet was awesome. I can also have sugar free popsicles which I love and they give you the benefit of actually biting into something which was awesome to be able to do. My hubby has been so good about not eating in front of me but right now I am not craving anything really. Of course, if I could I think I would have a pizza funeral....missed that one. LOL

So, here I am on Day 3 of the pre-op diet and wow. The new term in my house is LILO - liquid in, liquid out. I am so cleaned out and I have lost 5 pounds. Of course I know that most of that is Fluid but hey a loss is a loss. Caffeine withdrawal headache is gone...almost so that is making me very happy.

You are not alone at all!! I have been freaking out. What time is your surgery on the 6th??

2nd day of liquid pre-op and the caffeine headache is still around. I felt "sloshy" last night which almost made me feel sick at my stomach.....blech! Had warm soup at lunch which was awesome and somehow comforted me. I am going to have a fruit smoothie tonight and am hoping that will be as awesome as I think it will be. I found out my surgery will be at 2:00 p.m. on the 6th and that I will be taken down to pre-op at 12:30 p.m. Does anyone know how long the actual procedure lasts? Just curious as they said that I would be in pre-op about 1.5 hours, in post-op about 1.5 hours and in the operative area about 4-5 hours altogether. Thanks!

Are you using hte UnJury Chicken Broth? WAs going to order some to see how it tasted so was curious.

Congratulations!!! Sounds like you are doing awesome! -
Okay, caffeine withdrawal has kicked in and I have a wonderful headache. I am hoping that these will pass in a few days.

I know that it sounds cliche' but I am going to journal, journal, journal. I also have a friend who is having surgery (along with her daughter) just a few weeks after me so I feel like I have a built in support system too. I'm not sure how it is all going to work but I know it is.

So the doctor is picked out, surgery is scheduled for August 6th, scheduled to go on liquids next Tuesday for two weeks and I am literally scared to death of the surgery. This happened before my hysterectomy and another surgery I had too but geeze I feel overwhelmed with it all. Any suggestions? Hints? An offer to knock some sense into me? Thanks!

Thanks everyone!! Nancy thank you for prayers!!

Me too Beachbum....I don't know anything about self administered blood thinners!!! I know my nutritionist told me that I would have a prescription for something post-op but nothing pre-op.

I begin my liquid diet tomorrow and in two weeks (EEEK!!!) I will have my sleeve done. I am scared of everything you mentioned.....going under, losing so much of my stomach, complications, etc., etc., etc. However, I am more scared that my weight will continue to increase, that my health will continue to get worse, that the complications I feel from the weight are killing me for surely they are, etc., etc., etc. If not for a friend of mine who is also having the surgery in August I am not sure that I would have looked too deeply into having bariatric surgery however her research really made me look closely at myself and where I was heading by trying to do it on my own. The outcome of that conversation with myself changed my mind and my research solidified the decision. Am I still scared? Yes, but I put a lot of effort into researching doctors and believe that I have made the best choice. I have friends and family that will be praying me through it and I know I will be okay. Before my hysterectomy I used a guided meditation CD that I am going to download for my MP3 player...it helps you calm down, it helps your recovery. It is called Successful Surgery and it is put out by Health Journeys (http://www.healthjourneys.com/default.asp). Something to consider perhaps. Also, talk to your doctor about your concerns, it is so understandable that you would have them. Sending thoughts and prayers your way.

sleeve On My Way to a New Me and a New Life
Pangur posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay! I am on my way to a new life and a new me. My friend and I are both doing the surgery in August - me in the states and her in Mexico (we are both self pay) - you can follow us on our blog www.sistersleeves.blogspot.com. I am excited for this chance to be the person that I've tried so hard to be on my own but I am a bit (A LOT) anxious about the surgery. Anything that could help calm the fears? Were you anxious at all? I find that I am excited one moment and horrified the next. Read through my pre-op diet last night and know I can handle that. Would love y'alls feedback. xoxo -
August 6th here!!

Anyone else getting sleeved in August?
Pangur replied to Living4Me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be sometime in August and I am very excited about the procedure and what it means for my future but nervous about the surgery going well. Is anyone else a scaredy cat like me about the surgery? I am consumed with fear about it. Yikes!!!
