i love the coffee flavored one too, but my nutritionist only allows dannon light and fit. the oikos has too much sugar (like 19g, i think?) so she said to take a few spoonfuls and mix it with regular greek yogurt so i'm still getting the taste, just not the sugar.

Congrats on the loss! I was sleeved the 18th too! Sleeve buddies! I don't go to the doctor for another week, so I'm not sure how much I lost all together, but week one I lost 13lbs!

Post-Op day 2. Feeling great!
Chelsi replied to krystalherrington's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sore for about the first week. I'm a side sleeper so I used pillows as like a barricade to stop my stomach from hurting (or at least that's what worked for me!). The gas pains honestly went away around day 3 or 4 for me, but I walked A LOT. I still get gas pains when I sip something like my protein shake or water too close together. But the second week, you definitely feel a lot more like yourself! Good luck! -
hey! when i got under 300 i cried, i was so happy. congrats to you! you're doing an amazing job!

Can't get my protein in
Chelsi replied to time4me2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i, too, have had a hard time "enjoying" the protein shakes since surgery. i turned to isopure for a while but got sick of that quickly. so instead of having to drink 3 shakes a day i bought the ready to drink premier protein shakes, they are 30g each and i think they are 10 ounces? i can get one down in about an hour. i drink one in the morning and one at night with little things in between. and it brings me right to my 60g of protein. see if you can find heavy protein filled drinks that way you don't have to have a lot during the day. good luck! -
How much is too much soup?
Chelsi replied to saralyn4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i got nervous because i could almost eat a whole serving of one of the premade jello pudding cups, but a half of a dannon light and fit yogurt filled me and i can't eat more than like 1/4th cup soup. but i realized i was eating it too fast. so i slowed down the next time i ate it i felt the feeling. -
so my friend and i went to panera bread tonight and i got a cup of cheddar broccoli soup, not even thinking twice that even though it's a cream based soup it's CHEESE. i brought it home and strained it and ate about 1/4 of a cup. so far i haven't had any issues, it went down and didn't come back up. but i don't think cheese is approved on my phase 2 diet. does anyone know why i would be allowed milk and creamy soups but not cheese? is there a big difference?

Sidelined by a UTI! Help!
Chelsi replied to new_me_2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got lucky and didn't get a catheter (I had my period and I guess my surgeon wasn't too concerned, I used the bathroom two hours after surgery), I didn't even know I had a UTI before the surgery. They totally surprised me when pre-op called saying so, I had no symptoms! But I'm feeling really good. I'm still sore, but the gas pains are mostly gone and those were the worst! -
Sidelined by a UTI! Help!
Chelsi replied to new_me_2013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i actually had a uti before and while i was in the hospital and they were giving me antibiotics the day of and day after surgery. from there i took it for two days at home, and i lost 13lbs, but that was the first week after surgery. i think you should be fine. congrats on the 40lbs! -
I'm allowed plain oatmeal at week 3. I can eat cream of wheat/farina now at 1 week post op. Maybe try that instead?
-
I'm fine, it's been a few hours and nothing happened. But I am curious as to why creamy soups and milk is allowed and not cheese? Is there a difference between cheese getting digested from milk or creamy soups? Just wondering if anyone knows! Thanks!

late menstrual cycle post surgery?
Chelsi replied to crystal916's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my doctor actually said it might not be regular after surgery (even though i'm not regular anyway), but they did say i couldn't use my birth control 4 weeks before and 4 weeks after my surgery. which i find weird, i guess hormones affect you a lot more than you think. hm! -
my gas pains went away pretty much after day four. i find if i take sips too soon together i get that weird gas pain, so it definitely reminds me not to do it!

1 week after vsg and i'm feeling fine
Chelsi replied to lawree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i'm five days post op and i feel amazing as well. i am totally contributing all of it to the crazy amounts of walking i did both in the hospital and as soon as i got home. congrats on the loss! i can't wait to go to the dr tomorrow and see if i lost anything. i know i feel like i did. YAY! -
i feel really good! the soreness is going away, and i'm feeling really positive! thanks for asking!

Bruised Belly Button
Chelsi replied to megandearcos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i'm five days post op. they didn't go through my belly button, but right above it and it's definitely the worst out of all the incisions. it's black and blue and really itchy, probably because it is our pants/waistline. i feel your pain! just do what your doctor says, and i'm sure it'll all clear up! good luck! -
i'm five days out and i'm craving to actually chew something. i'm on clear liquids until hopefully tuesday and then i'll be able to eat yogurt and farina and stuff. i did freeze one of my protein shakes this afternoon and ate it like ice cream, which satisfied a bit of the chewing problem. it's all mental, though, because i can't drink that much without feeling full. stupid brain!

you will do great! i was so confident until i got into the waiting room and then i lost it. it's scary, it is major surgery. but you need to think about the positive! this is a wonderful thing you're doing and it took so much to admit you needed to do it! focus on the positives, you're going to look fabulous and feel great! good luck! we are all here for you!

How long did it take to schedule surgery?
Chelsi replied to Lenac0001's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i met with my surgeon for consultation on july 2nd and he wanted to schedule me for september right away. but i couldn't pick a date because i had to figure out if i could switch my college classes to online classes because attendance would probably be an issue. they scheduled my surgery for september 19th, but moved me to the 18th. so they scheduled me first and then made all my appointments. i guess it made it more real for me. it gave me a lot of motivation to actually lose the 20lbs they wanted me to lose, and to get all my appointments done quickly. good luck! -
i was told no muscle milk because it's got a ton of iffy stuff in it, and it doesn't have a lot of protein.
