i was allowed poached and soft cooked eggs (no scrambed) at 3 weeks (pureed). scrambled came last week at 4 weeks post op (soft foods). scrambled definitely settled different than the poached egg. and after having a deviled egg, that settles different than the scrambled egg as well (it was a little harder on my sleeve, at least).

i ate a lot of refried beans, and tuna mushed really well with low fat mayo and just broke it up really well with a fork. i pureed meatloaf once and decided it wasn't going to work out for me. so i basically stuck to tuna. there's also tuna packets in the supermarket with different flavorings (garlic and herb, sweet and spicy) i lived off of those for the week. they were so soft and moist, i didn't bother pureeing them any further. and i could only eat about half a pouch so i got two meals out of it!

day 4-5 is when it got considerably better for me. just keep walking, and getting your liquids in! the more you walk, the better you feel. plus, it gets you up and feeling somewhat normal. it will get better! hang in there!

I've wanted to do yoga so many times. I have extensive wrist problems, though, so I've always been afraid to try it, especially being heavy. I'd love to hear more if/when you decide to try it!

Back to work after sleeve?
Chelsi replied to alrsr28's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm direct care staff and was out for four weeks. I usually do a two person transfer for one of my clients, so the 15lb weight limit of lifting kept me out longer than I had hoped! I went back yesterday and I feel great, though! -
i was never told to NOT drink coffee. even during my three week pre-op diet, i was allowed to drink coffee with milk. i think my surgeon's issue with coffee is the amount of sugar people put in theirs.

i never thought pureed food would be so good
Chelsi posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Three week post-op appointment today. Only lost 5lbs in the last two weeks, but hey! That's 5lbs gone forever! Bye bye! Started pureed stage today, I'm just so happy I can eat something other than pudding/yogurt/creamy soup! Does anyone have any good suggestions for this stage? I already had tuna fish today, just waiting to see what I can conjure up for dinner. -
I know I've got to take a stool softener because things aren't working out down there. haha! I can't remember if we have to crush for a month or for three months? I'm thinking of crushing it just to be safe.

i'm 4 weeks out and i tried a piece of a spicy tuna roll and had no problem with it. i imagine it will be very filling with the rice, i picked a lot of it off. i was a bit worried about the seaweed, though, so i didn't have a second piece because i'm not cleared for raw fruits and veggies yet and didn't want to push my luck.

When will i get my energy back?
Chelsi replied to tampa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i agree with doing some exercise. on the days i go for a walk or two, i definitely feel better and more energized. i also sleep less and still wake up feeling refreshed. -
Feel real tired after i exercise, im 13 days postop.
Chelsi replied to HalloweenBaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was only allowed to walk 15 mins at a time until 4 weeks. and i thought i could go further, but remember you just had major abdominal surgery! your body needs time to recover. do two 15 min walks a day, and then it'll get a little easier as time progresses. -
when i was on pureed food, the only way i was allowed to have my eggs was poached or "softly cooked/runny". i wasn't allowed scrambled eggs.

Whats it like being under and waking up from surgery?
Chelsi replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
they told me they were mixing me a great cocktail, next thing i knew i woke up in recovery. felt like five seconds! i was very nauseous when i woke up though. -
One month after surgery
Chelsi replied to ReadyNewM3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was sleeved the same day! so far i've lost 18lbs that i know of, i haven't been back to the doctor in almost two weeks and don't own a scale. oops! but go us! -
my dog has permanent "pound puppy face" and even after he's eaten half of a chicken breast he looks up at me like he's starving! haha!
-
it's nice because my husband works 60+ hours a week. so at least i don't have to eat alone! LOL!
-
i just did a ten hour road trip with my mom and brother and they stopped for mcdonalds. i couldn't even smell it, i had to get out of the car. watching him eat those chicken nuggets was gross. i had a string cheese from a gas station! you can do it!

i used the flatout bread for the first time yesterday and i tolerated it well. i'm 4 weeks post op. i haven't tried regular bread, i'm scared to. also because regular bread is a trigger for me. but i've also had a whole wheat wrap from a restaurant and that went down easy too. i'm think bread might be a little dense for our sleeve.

i know how you feel. i'm 24, 4 weeks post op, and my friends, husband and i go out A LOT. it's a big difference at first, mostly because for the first three weeks, at least, after surgery (for me) i was on full liquids/purees so any time my friends went out i couldn't go. it hurt, and i cried a few times, but i knew it was for the best. i'm not allowed alcohol for six months after surgery, but i wasn't a big drinker anyway. but yesterday, for example, my two friends and i went to a local bbq place. they both got cheeseburgers, ate the WHOLE plate with their fries. i got a wrap and immediately asked for a box, and boxed 3/4th of the wrap and 90% of the fries. i ate the insides of the wrap and about 5-6 fries. i made a decision to not limit myself when going out to eat because i would think it might make me feel lousy (but i do stay away from my triggers which is a slice of something like italian bread, a breadstick, the bun on a hamburger...) plus, while my two friends scarfed down their meal in under ten minutes, i can still get three more meals out of mine! haha! gotta look on the bright side. will you be a bit different? yeah. but when you see the difference on the scale, it's really not that bad! good luck!

the first few days after surgery my stomach was weird and made weird noises and had weird feelings. about a week after, everything seemed to normal out. i, personally, don't feel hungry and need to remind myself to eat. i eat something about every 2-3 hours and track everything with myfitnesspal.

Full Liquid ideas besides gagging shakes
Chelsi replied to dp81796's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i ate a lot of greek yogurt (dannon light and fit greek, some have 2x protein!) to get some extra protein in. but the shakes, unfortunately, at that stage were mandatory for protein intake. -

First day/night in hospital?
Chelsi replied to Fit2btied's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was only required one night in the hospital... my suggestion is don't bother bringing them up! my husband and a few of my friends came to visit and i was asleep 90% of the time they were there. i was all sedated and kept dozing off during the conversation. -

Chelsi replied to Chelsi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i'm actually not allowed to have scrambled eggs yet? on my diet progression it says "soft cooked or poached egg (NOT SCRAMBLED), which i'm really curious as why i can't have scrambled. BUT I'M DYING FOR EGGS! LOL
